  1. Very sory, to hear that. I wish you both the best! Definitely watch out for the sun! Both of my parents had bouts with skin cancer, brain cancer took my mother. My dad still wears long sleeve shirts and hats when outdoors.
  2. I remember those things back when I was a kid. My brother got a set for his birthday in '64 or '65, not sure exactly. I bought a bunch ot those molds off eBay and would hand pour things for my grandson. Actually didn't think to use them for fishing up here, of course my mind to work as fast as it used to either. I remember my youngest brother getting the Incredible Edibles, too!
  3. My name is Bryson, 54 years old. I live in Eagle River Alaska with my Wife, 4 children grown and on their way, 4 grandchildren so far. Retired from Submarines and currently supply the tech equipment for the Alaska Court System until I retire in June 2014. I taught myself flytying way back in the late '70s and was fishing and losing lures rapidly up here and a buddy says " you tie flies don't you?" "I said yes" and he says "Why don't learn to make lures?" and so that began the descent into another hobby. I am very willing to share what knowledge I have, especially since this site has helped me to learn so much! I haven't quite found my niche yet, whether it be plastic, wire or hard lures, so I am dabbling a little in each but I am willing to try anything.
  4. yeah, poweder by the pound; great place I've never had a problem with them even up here!
  5. Merry Christmas from Eagle River Alaska!
  6. A very Merry Christmas to All!
  7. Been a life member since 1985. Stopped getting the magazine in 1995. I find I can get as much or more information from online, talking with folks with similar interests and locations.
  8. Not to be a tool but I read your title with the Moody Blues "Kights in White Satin" melody. I apologize. I haven't worked with white cedar. Cheers and keep on, mate!
  9. Like RAW said, I like the Plano type boxes and other makes of organizer boxes for various parts. For the smallest parts; split rings, clevises, etc., I use some of the drawer organizers. Same thing, label each compartment with item, size, color, make, model and to make it easier on me, I attach 1 item on the face of the drawer with hot glue so I can see at an instant what is in each one. Oh, and I like to include where I purchased from also. Truth be told, i got the ideas from my wife and oldest daughter on how they manage and organize their crafting stuff.
  10. Like others have said; I don't don't make baits to save money but to have fun tweaking them and experimenting. I only do so for me and the immediate family and so I don't need perfect baits, whether it be bo open pour plastic, hand carved wood or twisted metal. It is the same reason i brew my own beer, make my own cider, mead and wine. or even reload ammo but not all at the same time.
  11. This is, to me, the most informative and friendly site out there. I like the search function and love the tutorials!
  12. No, i don't sell anything I make. I share with Family and Friends but I wont sell.
  13. Awesome! Thank You, I missed the site, glad to be back!!!!!!!!
  14. Yep, I tried to get to the site just now and was redirected yet again. And sssssslllllllooooowwww. Maybe I'll check back in a couple of weeks.
  15. Incredibly slow and got redirected twice when trying to come here. I really like this site and the information and comraderie and would be willing to pay for an improved site, whether it be an upgrade fee or annual membership. I do on a couple other sites for other hobbies but the response time and behavior of the site would definitely have to be improved.
  16. My grandson wanted wanted to help grandpa make lures. So, I bought some of the SpikeIt cold pour plastic and let him make me some egg clusters. grandpa puts them in the oven for him but he enjoys helping out. My point is, Nathan, I think I wouldn't mind trying your suggestion for single eggs and it gives me something to experiment on - Thanks!
  17. Thank you and you also!
  18. Very nice, is my jealousy showing? LOL, Thank you so much for sharing!
  19. All of you make good points and I am very happy to acknowledge the generosity of folks on this site. Before I asked my first questions, I did alot of searching, copying, cutting and pasting into a little digital handbook of information from many members here, mostly just articles and how-tos that I semi-organized. I build only for myself and my family but i greatly appreciate the improvement in my abilities gained from here. I have found that as my confidence increased, I tended to start adding comments and suggestions to questions I was reading. There are many members I could thank specifically but since I like the whole site so much - Thank you everyone!
  20. Very nice! They look great and give me ideas as a homebrewer, thanks!
  21. This just happened to me twice today on 2 different PCs, 1 at work and 1 at home this morning.
  22. Very Cool. My dad always had time to take us fishing and do 'fishing' stuff with us growing up. We fished regularly together until I left to go into the service and he continued with the rest of the family. He finally started slowing down on in his 60s and then when my Mom passed away he stopped altogether but he still has some great fishing stories from when were growing up! It is always better with family for me and mine!
