Here is a link to amazon the stuff I bought in the past is no longer available because I used to get it polished this is not and depending on size can work well if you want high strength spring steel http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Unpolished-Precision-Tolerance-Diameter/dp/B00CNLXNW6/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1379020563&sr=8-10&keywords=stainless+steel+wire+.040 I used it for making spinner frames and stuff like that made a few bucktails as well but haven't dressed them yet... again if your making smaller stuff go with the welding wire its alot cheaper... if you start getting into musky, striper, ocean size baits then you probably want to look at spring stainless that comes in wire/rod for welding or making custom springs...

make one

The other place I forgot about is Fastenal can get wire for you if you have one near you... you'll get it cheaper if you know a contractor with an account there.
-
depending on the size of lure you are making... welding wire works good, I ordered some stainless steal wire off amazon that came in a tube for dirt cheap, musky lures I found the smaller bike spokes work great just take a bit more effort to bend and you can usually get them for free at the dump or the bent ones from the bike shops since they just pitch them... and there stainless as well. I have heard of some people using 14 gauge copper wire from house wiring on smaller stuff since its pretty stiff as is and won't rust.

yeah figured it would be something like that... my GF messed up her ankle and she has been doing almost 18 weeks of therapy since she keeps re injuring it they will probably give you exercises to do at home and I HIGHLY recommend doing them as they tell you to... you will heal ALOT faster
-
Well there are some good ideas in the cook book I would also suggest checking the how to sections I would also say check out the gallery and if you see something in there you like just ask the person that posted the pic on how to do it or what they used

Oh and the reason I say a sports specialist at the beginning is because they deal with this kinda injury all the time
-
Ok my GF is becoming a PA and her best friend is a chiropractor... my advise on something like that; look up online or in phone book and see if you can find a sports physical therapist/Chiropractor in your area that will take your insurance... if need be go see your normal Dr for a referral to that person... if that is not possible make an appt with your normal Dr... and have him refer you to a physical therapist and be prepared to do your exercises and what ever you do under no circumstances get a cortisone shot!!! And if you aren't getting the help you need from the first Dr... go see a different one until you do... ER folks were correct in telling you that there isn't anything they can do because its the ER what they should have said was you'll want to talk with your normal Dr... about physical therapy so you don't make it worse... also switch back and forth between ice pack and heat pad to keep the swelling down and don't over do it on over the counter pain meds... if your taking them switch back and forth between ibuprofen and tylenol until you see your Dr... it's alot of running around and a pain in the ass and you'll have to do stretches and all the stuff but in the end of all the stuff you may not want to do it is worth it and you will heal much faster...

Oh yeah Paul Adams video when he was making his baits yeah I forgot about that been awhile since I have watched them... the other thing alot of people don't know is a fine tooth metal blade in a jigsaw cuts the stuff like butter... and if you need to cut circles just use the jigsaw as the end of a compass with a board and you can cut perfect circles with them...
-
sounds kinda silly but thin lexon like that cuts on impact pretty easy since we used to do stuff like that in sign building alot... a total random thought for some one to try would be to take some 18gauge sheet metal of some sort role it in a circle put a board on top of it and wack it with a hammer... if I had to take a guess it would cut a nice circle out of 1/32'' which would make some nice round nose bills just my thoughts I don't have any of the material handy to try it though... I know we used to have half moon shaped chisel type tools for cutting out letters of lexon on the corners and stuff at the sign shop... used them more in the field for repairing broken ones vs driving back and forth alot to cut a new one out with a band saw...

Take a pic lets take a look at it
-
whats wrong with how it dried by the way I suppose one of us should just asked that to start with? Perhaps it can be fixed in that area vs striping the whole thing
-
So really random question how high and how much humidity in the weather have you had lately... I know in Minnesota there was a couple weeks there it wouldn't have paid to use any kind of two part epoxy the humidity was so high nothing would dry.
-
Sandblasting never thought of that... I am guessing depending on the sand it may not take to long

Ok first off if you are making trolling lures for fall fishing musky's you are not going to need to go very deep... in the fall they go nuts feeding getting ready for winter fishing October/November is probably the best time to get them... Granny Lures and Large Original Rapala like lures are almost best for these types of baits... your looking for the 10-18ft max range of things... Rayburns idea is probably actually the best plan for you if you are in the mood to build deep divers... I would also recommend looking at Solarbaits you tube videos he makes big baits in europe he is a member here and youtube same name check the how section of the forum... on a final note fall fish are after flashy big stuff so don't forget to add some bucktail or a twister to the end of some of your lures on a hot bite day it can make a huge difference.

How Can I Make My Own Dive Lips With The Line Tie In It?
Griffond replied to Uncle Jays Fishin Shack's topic in Hard Baits
Here is an example of a Salmo show the front lip with two wires on it... the pic is from there website this is probably as simple as it gets to look at... also for something to look at Original Rapalas... the minnow shaped ones are thru wire... the jointed ones are as well and then they use a plastic piece to fill the belly. Hope it all helps -

Dieter is probably one of the better people to ask about things like this and since he didn't mention or show it here is the link to his youtube channel I would recommend getting a full pot of coffee or a six pack of beer since after you watch the first episode you will be hooked and watch the rest of them...which means you better have a few hours of time on your hands lol. http://www.youtube.com/user/61diemai -
This Is What Happens When It Rains For The Weekend
Griffond replied to Griffond's topic in Hard Baits
So yeah after much beer and a hacksaw and a sacrificed spinner bait and someones left over silver spinner from a walleye rig we have a complete body and a bunch of grinning old guys still debating what the best color is but the consensus seems to leaning towards blue like a blue rapala. Sorry the pic is a bit grainy it was dark and cell doesn't have the best camera. -

Here is a link to a guy on youtube named Paul Adams that has a nice little three part on making a Balsa crankbait with thru wire its worth the watch if you have never done it before

I agree NorthernScriptures channel is worth checking out

So pardon the really crappy paintbrush drawing but it was handy I am sure you will get way better pictures from most of the guys on here and other ideas but this is the general idea the black line is the wire, red is glued thread... blue is your lure and grey is the lip essentially you run the wire under the lip and drill a hole in the middle and push the loop through. If you have a Salmo (Hornet) store brand lure that probably shows the best example to look at.
