  1. Well that is a good question for Frank or one of those guys. Bruce at basstrix keeps it up to 2-2 1/2 hours for dipping but he has some pretty expensive pots. Never seen them he said he would have to kill me if he shows us. Not sure what a presto is gonna do and I don't pour everyday especially with that lengthy time frame. Hope I threw in a faucet if not tell me and I'll mail you one. Jeff
  2. Frank in the finish product I have and the only thing I have personally seen with our brand is yellowing but nothing else unless stored incorrect. Moisture will ruin it and most will settle at one point any brand out there. In the raw materials I have never seen any changes unless rain was to leak on the stack of drums and again water the issue. Is this component plastic you are talking about? Glitter may also suck up moisture, so many variables with this stuff. Having plastisol where you can see it like in a jug is best so you can see it settle and most fellows that buy drums truly know how to store & keep it stirred 100% keep away and out of the rain. Keeping your drums outside is a no no! We had a contaminating several years back and lost a few customers and call it toxic but cant beat what we have currently and to answer your question I would say fresher the better (YES). Jeff
  3. Mics have everything to do with it maybe in this case. 1 have 3 setting side x side x side and all 3 do not heat the same, the older of the 3 works best for me the newest with the highest heating setting is not good for me and blast the heck out of it and do not use, it only for show to walk in customers. Basically everyone will have to experience the good and the bad personally, this is a good place to start for your questions as you are doing. Example: Hot plate cooking medium high heat, phone call.....Sir I got to go my plastic is smoking and burning call you back in a few.....Thats how easy it is to burn. Larger companies only keep the plastic just long enough to shoot, over and over again without waste and reheats. This is why smaller folks have the problem your having. Try to cook exact what you intent to use to get the best bang for your buck. There is also the bubble effect, hopefully thats been gone through enough.. Glitter will fade and turn plastic colors over heating will ruin all plastics if not at least discolor many issues with plastics and why so many trade secrets folks keep to their self...color formulas is a main one. People want me to match a color named xxx without seeing it, it is impossible. Customer: well its purple with a glitter or 2 in it and its kinda green on the bottom. Me: Lol Sir I need the bait in my hand and maybe i can get you close... 30 minutes later I have a small bait coming to match lol... Sorry if jumping around just trying to help a bit but my post up top my breakfast was ready and this one well its Monday. My bad I know what Caney Creek is I thought Do-It bought it out and Do-It would be a better name to sell this in my opinion only. I'm also sure without many years experience (Plastisol) do-it is having issues because so much can go wrong and might try and pass it along to customers either because cost or who is making it for mixing and bottling it so on. I am sure CC did not make his own plastic in his shop because of storage, overhead, ventilation and lack of experience with problems that most would not even think about. (it may of been circulated there but not made from scratch) With less than 2 years experience not sure many folks can make it through the ups and downs for many reasons. From beginning to end there is a heck a lot that goes in a business with many things out of our hand that can go wrong, even the customer, off speck material, not mixing and overheating #1 user problem...OK got to go hope all has a safe and good week! CC is Caney Creek. http://www.caneycreekmolds.com/ Jeff@Monday
  4. I'm finding currently pouring with my current plastisol is 337 degrees. It may be the glitter turning or your plastisol. Basically can't take reheats as most folks would like to see. Not sure what CC is but of you over heat any brand you will get this yellowing, the pearl may easily be the problem and hot microwaves. I've said before I don't put my steak in the mic for 8 minutes and come out edible, not that I eat anything cooked in a mic. Microwaves are very hard on all these materials especially reheats. Jeff
  5. And I'LL trade any soft plastic for clean seafood caught and a nice trade would benefit my family and me, say a 5 gallon price exchange hopefully up north for seafood shipped to me in cold packs with this cooler weather coming....any takers with some fresh salmon?? It may be a good exchange as long as it don't break forum rules. jeff@mf never cook with DINP!
  6. Yellow or not free is a good price for DINP, if your trying to resale it you better check with your supplier. Albertsons sales meat as PRIME and I know damn well its not prime and the seafood is not right of the gulf but they make you think so with the price but the smell gives it away. Man it would be nice to get my hands on some prime seafood/steak! DINP same goes with this you can put any label on this stuff don't make it top shelf. If you are trying to get the price down to resale it you need to at least buy in totes. May us readers know why you need to know if a particular product for it to be price worthy, free is GREAT! All raw materials are subject to spoilage either contaminated, heat or storage problems. If you only need a pint its not an issue. Jeff @mf
  7. Have you called the major suppliers that can supply your needs? If you are you needing quantities in the range of 80 drums ( a full truck load) is pretty available if you stop dealing with typical suppliers and have plenty of storage room and either CLEAN totes or spare CLEAN drums laying around It may take lots of phone calls instead of e-mail or forums and many years buying in bulk before you get what you are looking for say at least 5-20 years before you get in the old Rolodex or suppliers to drop by your business. Hope this helps and this is a common question question and its not information many folks pass around. If you find the goods please pass on the contact info. Most reps from the 80" and 90's have either passed or retired. Good luck in your adventure. One company out of business now hired his own private chemical company to find out whats really up with these materials. Jeff, oh and a fork lift will be very useful!
  8. By dropping water into heating plastisol will 100% make it pop or make you duck really quick if would try some with proper gear & protection or the same effect like pouring hot plastic into an open bucket of water, depending how hot that plastic is. Small amount of water in some plastisol can either gather on top of the lid and be drawn in by pressure or just an open lid contamination and happens more than you think by a can of beer or melt off of a coke can, very little water will show up in say 40 gallons of plastic. Moisture can do this also in Texas same as Florida can make condensation when there’s ice on top of the building then turn heaters on and heat metal drums up accidentally and make small amounts of moisture and can easily be cooked out in a short period of time. No ice here as of now. If what you are explaining that it started and didn’t have this problem and does now would be human error probably and not condensation. It can cook out in time but we have never 100% effectively drawn water out of a drum. I have never seen this just stored with the correct lid tightened correctly. In mean time buy you some fresh to stop the frustration until you get this figured out if you need to pour at this time to fish or fill orders. Hope this helps
  9. Every Company International USPS should be close to the same since its priced by weight, some may add handling fee. If you want to try a sample gallon contact by e-mail M-F and a cheap gallon may be provided shipping on 10lbs is approx. $60.00 to $77.00 flat rate depending on the Country. Some companies may help you and eat some shipping charges to get you started, depends if you connect or have personality and/or communication conflicts .Again just a suggestion, I personally like shipping International for speech therapy,... Jeff
  10. Mike, worked up a small comparison based strictly on web-sites 7/16/2013 with very little time invested while tasking a breather. All companies clearly have close prices some may separate, settle or stay suspended or stink. Here are just a few with only 2 names you have mentioned for comparison. Company a m-f $143.00 -5.00 $138.00 company b Your Price: $132.00 Company c Our Price: $136.00 Company d Price: $176.96 shipping included Company e lw Price: $119.00 Price: $72.00 2.5 gallons $144.00 Price: $75.00 again 2.5 gallons think it would be very easy to see prices in very short time Hope this helps a little? Jeff
  11. Hey Mike how long has it been since you tried M-F ? Was it about the time there was a shortage? Might try a sample because I personally don't see or smell what your are explaining here compared to LW. I'm sure you have time to get back because you seem to have very good opinions on most products. Jeff
  12. Probably depends how deep your pockets are, storage and lots of time with a strong back.. Jeff
  13. Yes Sir, I will try lube and softener to see what soaks it up the best, never messed with it. Jeff
  14. We will try adding this to liquid before next week is up, its not a user friendly material in the powder. I think a company that went out of business did this so I will try for you and get back. Probably sample it in a 1/2 pint and should not be a problem so there is shaking room (no guarantee it will work yet). I will send the first couple of guys up top if you will e-mail me @ no charge so you can test it in your application and pass your 2 cents here, see if its worth messing with???? Jeff
  15. You can pour vein by hand with MF Super Soft with a little practice, mostly powder colors such as blue brilliants split automatically if timed right. Pour you open mold, wait pour over top and it splits but like I said key if using powder based colors. Not sure with every brand plastisol that this will work in this manner. Bronze and coppers work great too! Jeff@mf
  16. The pellets I have at 350 degrees it didn't really have any effect (burn, stick or melt) and they are almost shaped in a spine vertebrae. Anyway its not in the shape of a water bottle. If you ever cook and ate whole catfish then one might can vision what i'm a thinkin'
  17. As a matter of fact I have had some pellets laying around and may offer them to sell and I don't sell finished baits, but I was thinking of using them as a moveable Skelton or vertebrae in with hand poured baits. They do not melt using standard heating but in pressurized heating process as I understand. I may have gave away a great idea but we only sell unfinished product so this might be a great to make a spine in some applications. Someone might jump on this idea and run with it. You can run a line through it to susspend it but not my specialty in pouring finished goods. Meaning I don't compete with myself I guess so to speak. Jeff Smith @ M_F
  18. It may take on a different texture or may be a bit more tacky that you are use to but all should mix together well.
  19. Have any of you guys held your flourescent colors in a black light? they glow but I don't see how it would help in lake water. Jeff
  20. Looks like Bruce at Basstrix to me but I can't find the bait in the shop at the moment. Jeff
  21. I'm sorry for the post, up 3 or 4 (arrow up shuld be incerted here) Bear warned me about post on these kinds of forums either grammer or a simple misunderstanding. I will keep it short and to the point for now on. Sorry for the confusion but it was about the one gentleman who ask about the glitter, this forum won’t let me edit post anymore so again sorry for the total confusion and small joke about and the 12th grade comment for the confused purchase of glitter and colorant. Have a good one!
  22. Was a joke, ordered on the 5th and got it on the 2nd, it was to the glitter supplier question. BT has great service! I got mine 3 days before I ordered it , lol........
  23. Wow I ordered my on the 5th and got it on the 2nd, go figure. This guy needs to stay in the 12th grade again. Hope this don't across to rude, just my 2 cents as everyone post to cover the azz.
  24. WOW, I fell really bad for you...Hop you have a full recovery soon! word for the day "Gloves" and full skin coverage around all hot plastics.....
  25. That's what is called bronze glitter, the newer of the 2 pics above
