  1. Thirded.... On my best day, i am mediocre... Thays why i got out of painting 'cycles... Only so many flame/pinstripe jobs you can do!! Murals were/are out of my league!!
  2. Ace has it here in Georgia too, only its the dual syringe deal, mot the two bottles...
  3. I'm hopeful you'll have the same good reaults i have had. It'll be nice to get a second (or third... Or fourth!!) opinion!! Karl
  4. Here's another line you may like. I have never used one but have heard nothing but good things about 'em. I think this is what Solarfall is using now... http://germanairbrush.com/
  5. Unless your name is Craig Fraser this AB is probably better than 99% of the folks using it. I love mine and I'm barely scratching the surface of what it can do.
  6. Here's another option... Catfish suspiciously missing though! http://www.taxidermy.com/
  7. That's one thing i like about the JB wood weld... As it cures it becomes putty like before it hardens and you can mold it to blend in with the curvature of the bait. A touch with the ole 400 grit and you, sir, are good to go!
  8. I have the same good fortune with Highland. Living near Atlanta has a lot of drawbacks but it has its good points too!
  9. Hey Dick! Thanks for setting up an order page for us! I believe you are right about the cure not being allowed to complete for me viz a viz my crinkling "problem"... I painted my lure with Polytranspar, let it dry 24 hours, dipped once and it was beautiful. I then, however, decided if one dip is good, two would be even better so i waited 5 hours (as i had seen suggested here by several folks) and presto!! The finish immediately started crinkling up! As i have said before... I really kind if like it and may play around with purposefully doing this over a different type of paint scheme. I dont know if the water based Polytranspar i used would be viable for metal spoons but thats the process i used to get the effect i got... Karl
  10. That's the best news I've heard all week!! I have bookmarked the page and will order some S83 to go along with the S81 i just got. Karl @Ned... Try Highland woodworking's website. They carry Bloxygen and i think it's $9 a can. Ok... 9.99 a can... Here's the link! The site as a whole is a goldmine of stuff for luremakers. http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/search.aspx?find=Bloxygen
  11. Your (Victoria's) secret is safe with us Mark.... Maybe....
  12. I've seen that and quite honestly... I'd pass on it. The HL here near home has it and every (hardener) bottle on the rack has already hardened. I told the store manager... They got some more and within the month the new batch hardened in the bottle also...
  13. I've been using JB wood weld for my belly hook hanger and it has worked well for me so far. Any Home Depot, Lowe's or a like type of store should have it. Karl
  14. Also saw this... http://www.epoxysystems.com/402.aspx
  15. What say you about this? http://www.mertons.com/Epoxy/epoxy_resins/sb.html
  16. I live in a very humid area (Georgia) but i have only had my DN for a short time. I got two cans of Bloxygen and immediately transferred my quart of S-81 into smaller mason jars to keep headspace to a minimum... I'll keep everyone posted if the DN goes bad on me but i have every confidence it'll be OK... I also like the ACC if for no other reason it is easy to use and you can make stuff like fake ice cubes with bugs in 'em and other fun stuff! I have seen another possible entry into the mix at Hobby Lobby but i havent tried it yet. When i do i'll post a review...
  17. If you ever find it don't keep it to yourself!!! I would disagree with you ad for as DN being "Hard to find" and also about the long wait times. I ordered some saturday before last and got it in 9 days. Would have been sooner except for weekend down days. I'm really interested in trying the DN S-83 plastic dip. Not much has been reported on it here but it seems like it would be pretty good stuff.
  18. You might want to keep an eye on this thread.. http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/2772-dupli-k8r-1000-concept-machine/page__pid__17145#entry17145 Or not. It may not be anywhere near what you're looking for but Gary is not incorrect in saying that if you want to do what you're trying to do on the cheap you're going to have to come up with your own machine. If you want somebody else to do it for you get ready to pry open the ole wallet.... A machine that quickly duplicates lures inexpensively is as much a holy grail as the "perfect" topcoat....
  19. Possibly this one? http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-abu-ambassadeur-6000-casting-165774794
  20. I really like the way it goes on... The crinkle is my fault for (once again...) not leaving well enough alone... I look forward to a long and happy relationship with the S-81 (and will wear a respirator to help insure it)!!
  21. That's more than $.02 Ben... Thats great advice. Thres a reason Dick only ships it UPS ground and even then it has to have the ORM-D labels on it. S-81 is great stuff, used properly but like a loy if things... You're only one bad decision away from a trip to yhe ER, or worse... We're on vacay this week so i'll be away from the workbench... My lure is hanging up and I'll be interested to see what a week undistirbed will do for the finish. I know the wrinkle/crinkle is there for good but i'd like to see if a weeks worth of curing will imorove the gloss like i've seen folks say... Karl
  22. Hoo boy... I'm no expert but if cost is the main driver here you aren't going to beat China. If quality and having product in your hand within a reasonable timeframe is important to you, definitely find somebody domestic to do the work. My company did business with a Chinese outfit to produce sprockets and in short, it was a disaster. Long delays, poor quality, little or no concern on the part of the Chinese... I have a hard time. Elievi g these are the fks poised to be the worlds next superpower when they cant keep the dang power on long enough to spit out a few thousand lousy sprockets!!!
  23. I'm on board to give it a try. Will order tomorrow. I'll be interested to see how it compares to the ACC and how the humidity here in Georgia affects cure time.
  24. Bob Smith and E-tex are probably the only two topcoats that are comminly mentioned here that I havent tried. May get some of each to see how i like 'em but i'm really taken with the DN right now. I messed up my first effort but i think the DN one dip method is going to be my go to topcoat from here on out.
  25. Here's the lure.... For entertainment purposes only!!!
