  1. Try Bears Motor Oil. It changes depending on the light from brown to red to a greenish chartreuse.CF
  2. I have not been using anything on the blank half. Just been using vegetable oil on the side of the plate that I want to stay in the mold. I have tried the cooking spray before but will try it again. Also have heated the molds in a toaster oven while the second color was warming up. Still seemed to have problems. I will go back and try again. I will use Pam on the plate, keep mold warm on the griddle and then after I have made the bait, I will dip in clear plastic. I have some folks that want some of these baits but I will not give them to them if they don't meet my quality standards. I would be PO'd if I bought baits that did that. Thanks for any more suggestions anyone can give.CF
  3. You are not having problems with the two halves splitting apart after the plastic has cured using the Pam?CF
  4. Hey Guys. New here to this site. There is some great info here. I have been having some trouble for a while now with cold cracks on Laminates. I have tried everything I can think of to remedy the problem. I'm shooting some 2" crappie shad stinger type baits. Using Calhouns plastic. Mostly bears baits products, I have tried a jacobs injector and have a bass tackle twinjector. I have been trying to shoot the laminates in two shots to save some plastic. I am shooting bears's molds and they have huge sprues. The sprues hold as much plastic as the baits and using a twin injection keeps You from reusing the sprues for a desired color. They are pretty much trash. I have been trying the divider plate route doing it in a two step process. I have also been using vegetable oil to keep the baits in on side of the mold when demolding for quicker production. One side of the plate gets the oil. This also creates a skim of oil on one Lam half. I know this oil is not helping with the lam process because it is acting like an anti stick agent. So I made baits like this and then dipped them in clear plastic hoping to seal them up. This has helped but am still getting the problem of separation when I use a jig that has a fairly good size barb keeper on it (only talking 1/16th of an ounce). Looking for any advice I can get. I have tried all I can think of; different injectors, different heat, with oil, without oil. Without oil, the baits stick to both sides and I have to tuck the half tails back into the molds. When I do this and shoot the other color to complete the bait, 99% of the time, the tail is not straight. It is warped and useless. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.CF
