    Minwax?

Cool, I'm really going to consider this. I tried the concrete sealer but was not very impressed with the overall shine. I saw the minwax product has a ultra clear gloss. thanks again!

    Minwax?

I was considering using that. what kind of winwax product do you use?
  3. google "how to paint a largemouth/ SM/ pike/ walleye", ect. most likely you will be directed to a art or taxidermy site, this is how I get my information color and some really great techniques! have fun. also open the hard bait recipies and do a search to the type of fish you are tring to pain. there are many different variations.
  4. I sign them with a thin sharpie and let dry. then take Ctex glossy clear coat and lightly dab it over with a qtip and again let dry. then top coat over that. --George.
  5. wow great work. what do you use as a top coat
  6. I use Kilz Original. It's a rattle can sealer and primer you can get a Home Depot. Holds acrylic really well and allows the topcoat to hold great (I use ACC).
  7. for me, if the epoxy is not tacky to touch then it is good to paint. I also slightly scuff it with 300 grit sand paper.

What top coat do you use? looks great!
  9. I went to HD the other day and bought some, just go to the paint dept and ask to be shown where the concrete sealer is. It'll be there. I bought the one with 'clear high gloss'. I played with it and am still an ACC fan, sorry guys.
  10. I started to use those med-large paper binder clips. clip it over the square rotisserie post and then clip onto the lure. really easy.
  11. I read alot of people use createx and some of the brands carried at Micheal's 'Folk Art' and 'Americana'. Both work for me typically its thinned 1:1. I thin mine with just plain water and I haven't noticed any difference vs using the brand thinner. I would start with the primary colors in opaque and also buy pearl white and opaque white. Go online and seach for acrylic color combinations. If you don't mind spending a little more dough, I have been hooked on using acylic colored ink. Freaking amazing and best of all NO THINNING!!!! Hell Yeah! You can find it Hobby Lobby. http://www.daler-row...fw-artists-inks . Just be sure to competely clean out your brush soon after you are done using it. Someone else also mentioned in a previous post to submerge the tip of the airbrush in a small water bath to prevent color from hardening. That is a great idea and it really works. hope this helps have fun!

  13. Hey guys, I'm sure I'm not the first to discover this but I've been using some "Daler-Rowney FW Acrylic Water-Resistant Artists Ink". A friend of mine who is an artist gave me a bottle of the sepia color. sprayed perfect. I was super impressed I did not have to thin at all like I have to (i.e. c-tex). I found it at H-lobby and DickBlick.com Anyone else have any success with this? **one little caviate is I have to clean the sprayer soon afterward and cannot let it sit for too long b/c it drys pretty quick. Another cool thing it comes in a bottle with a squeeze dispenser so now I can suck out the remainder of the color after I'm done with it. Have a great weekend! -George

    Pvc Blanks

I've been reading alot of posts concerning using PVC crankbodies, and it seems that everyone using PVC is making the bodies themselves. Do you know anyone/anywhere OR is anyone (TU members) are willing to sell some PVC blanks? I'm looking for both flat and rounded bodies 2 1/4 - 3in long. Thanks again, George.
  15. The nearest Hobby Lobby is ~45min away and has only a few basic colors of createx paint. And I wanted other options. Micheals is really close, it has a good colors selection and I really don't want to pay shipping for a couple of bottles of paint. I completely agree using airbrush paints would be hell of a lot easier hehehe, but I'm looking for other options. As always, thanks Ben for your help.
  16. I was thinking about using the Michaels craft acrylic paint (easily accessable, good choice of colors)I was planning on using a DIY reducing mix approx 1:1(paint/reducer mix). Now my to my question, is it recommended that I to strain the cheaper craft paint with pantyhose or a paint strainer from HD? Some guy recommended it on YouTube. What do you all think?
  17. I've been incredibly impressed and blown away by TU members who build lures using Mother of Pearl shell veneers. I've never seen this before! So I diligently researched this and it seems to be pretty popular with saltwater fishing. I followed up with a TU search about that topic on this site and came up with very little and I tried all sorts of different phrases and even changed the spelling. So I have a couple of questions. Anyone know of a thread detailing on how to apply/use this cool product? What is the best brand to buy? Where to buy (I saw Ebay, MOP site in Australia, on one in Hawaii [that one seemed to be way over priced]) How easy is it to work with? Any additional tips on how to use and apply this? Thank you all so much for your help! Respectfully, GF.
