  1. Fall and winter is the time to look for used molds. Sometimes spring time can be good as well as makers get rid of old molds to make room for new ones.
  2. Whatever you do, definitely don't thread it up the shank of a finesse jig. Definitely doesn't work for big spots in rocky areas.
  3. They stand up really well and since there is no salt to stiffen them up you don't need to add any softener unless you just want to. Works really well when the fish want a bigger profile worm but something subtle at the same time.
  4. Looks like green pumpkin on top and orange on the bottom with copper hi lite. Can't tell what the flake is.
  5. Baby Bass senko laminate Top Color 1/2 cup plastic 2 T popcorn salt 3/4 T softener 25 drops watermelon (lureworks) 5 drops black melon (lureworks) .035 black flake .008 gold flake Bottom color 1/2 cup plastic 2 T popcorn salt 3/4 T softener 4 drops white pearl powder Check out the gallery for some pics
  6. RI is less than 5 minutes from my house lol.
  7. Snatch stix....lol. My mind is perpetually in the gutter you'll have to excuse me.
  8. I believe lure craft and lure works will both ship to Canada for an added fee. www.lurecraft.com www.ispikeit.com Give those links a try. Bruce at Lure Works (spike it) is an outstanding individual to do business with and makes himself very available to help his customers so if you can't find what you're looking for give him a call, he's always happy to help.
  9. The laser glitter I use from lure craft seems to withstand the heat pretty well, but I have not tried their violet. I haven't had any problems with folding or bleeding from the laser glitter. I also have some holographic glitter in purple I got from do it which is tricky to work with because it will bleed if it gets to hot but if you can control the temp you can normally avoid that problem. Try the laser glitters if you haven't already.
  10. I prefer a hook slot personally, feel like I catch more fish this way than when I tex-pose the hook. When it tears, I heat up a small flat screwdriver with my lighter and meld it back together.
  11. If by opaque you mean cloudiness that's the salt in the bait.
  12. 1 oz bottles are enough to color an entire gallon of plastic so if you're working in small batches that's the way to go. If you know you'll be making a lot of one color go ahead and buy the bigger bottle.
  13. I find the LW scuppernong isn't red enough without adding a few drops of the cherry red colorant, but maybe that's because I work in smaller amounts.
  14. 1/2 cup plastic 18 drops scuppernong LureWorks 3 drops cherry red LureWorks 2 drops black Lurecraft
  15. Either what als said, or it could be your plastic not completely changing over in some areas. Make sure you mix up your raw plastic really well prior to heating and continue mixing it while it goes through its different states during heating. Your plastic should be completely clear when up to temp.
  16. You definitely do not need 32 oz of softener. As for suppliers for everything you're looking for there are plenty of topics where this has been discussed at length and you can find them easily using the search feature. It's also a great way to look up things you're curious about such as color recipes, how to make your own molds, etc. Welcome to the forum and to this hobby! Did I say hobby? I meant addiction
  17. With a hook that heavy and large it may not be feasible, possibly just too much weight to overcome. But with a bigger floating bait that's more surface area so it may offset the weight of the hook to the point it still floats. There's so much physics involved between the surface tension o the water, surface area of the bait, weight of the bait, buoyancy of the bait, weight of the hook, etc you would really have to sit down and crunch some numbers to really find out if it would work or not.
  18. I saw that you're located in Wisconsin so I didn't think they would hit on top but damn I sure wanted them to! Give it another month of this warm weather and I'm sure you'll have big smallies and LM alike tearing them up! Or send me some down here in Alabama and ill get some largies to tear them up right now;)
  19. I can dig it! Definitely a cool little bait. I was watching and saying to myself "something's about to get it, something's gonna get it"!
  20. It's a very dark reddish purple. I would try some cherry red colorant along with some purple and junebug or black grape colorant and lots of blue flake.
