  1. Damp rid is a product we use in our basement and garage, I have it in my boat lockers and it just draws in moisture. Comes in a bucket or in a bag.
  2. Those dull finishing nails don't come out once you insert them fully into the plastic.
  3. Zoom's green pumpkin orange is actually a light green pumpkin with more of a brown color than a traditional green pumpkin. The orange flake is what makes it look like it is brighter than their normal green pumpkin with black flake.
  4. That's awesome! Very cool indeed.
  5. The laminate plate allows you to not need the blending block and will give you more consistent laminate results because you will shoot one side of the mold, remove the spruce and laminate plate and then shoot the mold again filling the other side of the cavity or cavities.
  6. It most likely has a violet hi light in it which gives it a metallic like sheen to it.
  7. Well, after some more experimenting over the past few days I have come up with these. Still not the exact color I am wanting but it is way closer to what I am wanting than what I was making before.
  8. Very little, maybe a 1/2 a tablespoon at the most.
  9. I posted a recipe in the cook book that doesn't include much, if any, salt for a watermelon that looks almost identical to Zoom watermelon.
  10. The lurecraft watermelon is awful when using it with sticks, I've been able to make some great watermelon baits that have very little or no salt in them using it though. Of course I only use one or two drops at most when I do use it because it is so overly green.
  11. I use the med soft pourasol from spike it and without adding any salt the baits will float a light hook like a 1/0 drop shot hook. I use just a tiny bit of powdered salt, 1/2 a teaspoon to a 1/2 cup of plastic and the end result is a bait that will float nice and horizontal while still having a lot of action.
  12. With that batch it was nothing but lurecraft coloring and those of you who have used it know just how incredibly green their watermelon is. I just got some watermelon 101 in from lureworks yesterday so I will experiment with that and see if I can get something closer to what I am looking for.
  13. I don't know what happened to make the text messed up around the picture, try and ignore it
  14. Alright everyone, I am need of some serious help here. After scouring this website using the search function, trying all of the recipes for watermelon sticks I could find I still can't seem to nail the color I am wanting. My baits are coming out simply too dark. Below is a picture of the watermelon I have been able to come up with. The recipe I am using is: 1/2 cup plastic 3/4 T softener 2 1/8 powdered salt 2 drops lime green 4 drops black 3 drops green pumpkin 4 drops watermelon It's just too dark compared to GY's version that I am trying to emulate that I have attached. If anyone is willing to share a recipe that is even close to the picture I have attached I will be eternally grateful! Thanks everyone.
  15. I have a bunch of colors, though not as many as some users on the site, but even with all the variety and options the colors I make the most are: watermelon varieties, green pumpkins, black and various browns. Flake wise I use black, red, purple and green the most but also have blue, silver, gold, copper, holos among many others. Since you're first starting out try and keep it simple and recreate the colors you use the most and go from there.
  16. My green pumpkin recipe is 6 drops pumpkinseed and 6 drops watermelon with 3-4 drops green pumpkin. All colors are from lurecraft and this color is very brown.
  17. That new bait is called the backslide. Supposedly it's killer on spawning bass or those suspended under docks when you fish it weightless.
  18. I have only ever used kosher salt that I've powdered in a spice grinder.
  19. I had one at one point in time if I can find it again I would be happy to post it for you.
  20. This is the recipe I use for my sticks, they're nearly identical to the senko. 1/2 cup medium/soft pourasol 2 1/2 Tablespoons powdered salt 3/4 Tablespoon softener Also just a little tip in case you haven't heard it before, if you are using these stick baits wacky style take a rubber o ring and slide it onto the middle of the bait and then take your hook and slide it under the o ring without hooking the plastic. This will greatly increase the life of your baits, I have had the same green pumpkin blue stick bait on my rod for three outings and it has caught probably 15-20 fish. Your baits look great by the way, I know nothing beats that feeling you get catching fish on something you've made yourself!
  21. Don't add raw garlic to your baits, it will turn rancid and can be a possible source of botulism. Instead, infuse the oil with the scent and then use it. You can do this two ways: either heat the oil up on a heating element slowly (has a very low smoke point) with your garlic in it OR get something like a mason jar and put your garlic or coffe grounds in it, add worm oil and then leave it on your porch in the sun for 2 weeks giving it a shake every day or two.
  22. These ramblings sound like the antics of a drunk man for sure I myself, don't drink while I am pouring or injecting, but when it comes time to bag you may find me with a couple bottles of Blue Moon or a small glass of Crown.
  23. Couple colors I made up today. The craws are actually based on the color of some crawfish I caught at the boat ramp last weekend. Hopefully the fish like the plastic version as much as the real thing!
  24. Awesome story, I make good looking baits all the time with scraps I have left over and just throw in a pyrex cup. When it gets full I melt them down, throw in some glitter, pearl or hi lite and see what I come up with. Sometimes it looks great, sometimes its just turns out a shade of brown which is okay too.
