  1. When I use it, I dip, let the excess drip off and then dip again. So usually just two coats, but you can do this as many times as you want to get the desired result.
  2. Look up Smallmouthaholic, I know he was recently clearing out some things as well as some other people in the for sale section.
  3. I don't have it in my hand but if I remember correctly I think it was black plastic, .035 purple flake, .015 silver and copper flake and some red flake as well.

For lateral lines, I use a piece of cardstock/notecard and cut the line into and mask off the edges with some painters tape. Keeps things even and as straight as possible. The colors are solid!
  5. If you absolutely have to have it you can purchase blank strike king lures direct from them or on TackleWarehouse.
  6. Hope it gets brought back online. Jonas is a super guy to work with and his stuff is top notch quality.
  7. It's an iridescent color. Once it's in the plastic it won't appear white. In fact, you won't see the individual flakes a whole lot until you start rolling the bait in your hand and the light starts reflecting off the flake. It's hard to explain without having the bait in your hands. I've made this color before after peeling a RI beaver apart and pulling flake out of it to really find out what it was. I'm confident this is the flake that's in that bait. As someone else suggested above, the zoom color may be different flake. It quite possibly is fuscia flake which would be my guess.
  8. I'm pretty open minded, mistakes happen after all. This happened ~2-3 years ago now and it may have been an isolated incident but it just put a bad taste in my mouth. I'm glad to know at least some of you have not had issues like I have.
  9. For some reason it isn't letting me copy and paste the link. Go to the lureworks section of the Spike It site, select glitter, should find it on the second page named sparkle violet.
  10. Shipped me the wrong order twice. On the third attempt to fix it, they left out several items from the order. I told them to forget it and just refund my money which took nearly two weeks to get the money back into my account. Just wasn't happy with their customer service.
  11. I hope no one ever has to live the nightmare that was my last order from Zeiners. Never, ever again.
  12. The KBS is very tough from my experience with it and I have not had any issues with bubbling (yet). It is more of a personal preference for me. I beat the crap out of my squarebills and deep divers throwing them in stuff most guys will steer clear of which is why I use epoxy 90% of the time for those baits. I haven't tried many baits dipped with the KBS in these areas for long enough to be able to say definitively that they won't stand up, I'm sure they would, it's just my preference for the epoxy like I said.
  13. The Zoom bait isn't a laminate like the RI. It's a black plastic with an iridescent purple flake which can be bought from SpikeIt although not in the size pictured in these baits which is probably .035/.040 and it's not cheap. It's called sparkle violet if you're interested.. Keep in mind that this flake is extremely heat sensitive and will lose its color quickly if it overheated.
  14. I use the KBS diamond clear and epoxy depending on what kind of bait it is. Something that needs as little weight as possible like a jerk bait, shad rap style gets the KBS. A squarebill or deep diver that's going to be cranked through the nasty stuff gets the tougher epoxy.
  15. Interested in the swim bait. If you could pm me a picture that would be great. Thanks
  16. That's great to hear! I love working with people like that; glad to hear it has been resolved.
  17. A little bigger than what I could see on my phone then. Glad to hear this has been somewhat resolved for you. Hopefully it isn't be receiving more of the same messed up blanks!
  18. This is a touchy subject and I can see things going in either direction, good and bad. On the one hand, it would be nice to have a section to review individual blanks/sellers/etc. Of course, on the other we don't want to open the proverbial can of worms by calling out or appearing to call out suppliers when we get bum products. This is one of those caught between a rock and a hard place scenarios. In my opinion, Ron has done everything right in this situation and it now rests on the seller to make it right. Whether the seller chooses to do so remains to be seen and judging by the fact he has still yet to respond to Ron's more than courteous emails I don't think that will happen. Which is a shame considering as Ron said he has done business with this individual in the past without issue; I hate to think one bad transaction with no resolution by the seller will tarnish that. That appears to be a DT-10 blank if I am not mistaken. I have bought some of those in the past (not saying where) but my issue wasn't crooked bills but bills that were split down the middle towards the line tie. Some of the blanks I received were good and ran perfectly fine, caught lots of fish. Others, well, lets just say I used some to practice new patterns on and then tossed them.
  19. For the love all that is holy and good PLEASE wear gloves, long sleeves, pants and shoes unless you just hate your skin and feel intent on losing it in a painful fashion. Seriously, burns caused by the molten plastisol are no joke. I work in a burn ICU at a major hospital and have seen some horrific injuries from sticky burning substances much like the plastisol. You can't just scrape it off or put it out; it sticks to everything it touches and just keeps burning.
  20. Is it the CNC or sand casted mold? If it is the CNC you shouldn't be having any issues with shine unless you're not cooking your plastic to 350 degrees to fully convert it which can lead to cloudy and tacky feeling plastic. The sand casted mold will not give you the very shiny appearance that a CNC mold will. You can modify it using high temp engine paint. There are several threads on this site detailing how this is accomplished.
  21. Checked out some of the ones he has posted on Ebay currently. Definitely going to have to look into picking up some stencils from him. They look really well done and good quality.
  22. Awesome. Thanks for your thoughts on it, I appreciate it. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you!
  23. Was looking into possibly buying this mold. Wanted to see if any of you might have it and could give me your opinions on it.

    Scents

I have recently started using BJ's fish sauce and am really liking it so far. Check out his page on Facebook as well as his main webpage.
  25. Check out some of these videos done by Marling Baits on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa-xsrfvLmgaUfPFE1TK7OQ/videos I don't work with wood so unfortunately I don't have much to contribute myself. For the O rings, the circle o rings will be used on the hook hangers. The oval o ring is used for the line tie. It keeps the knot from getting in the middle of the split ring and rubbing; I don't know what kind of utility this has on a big swimbait as I have never thrown them. Best of luck!
