I am a lot more worried about the plastic microbeads from toothpastes and other cosmetics that are finding there way in our water systems by the tens of trillions that are clogging up fish and animal systems and the hormones from birth control pills that are causing mutations in fish and amphibians. Lead that is enclosed in a bait will never hurt the environment as it sinks to the bottom and quickly gets covered up by silt and will probably only be exposed by some future form of mankind in a couple of million years from now. I suspect the epoxies and topcoats that some guys use are more dangerous than any lead as they leech there chemicals as they breakdown over time. Some of these chemicals that we use are downright nasty.

Personally I use uranium in my baits. I hear it kills those politically correct tree hugging monkeys that stand on the shorelines!

If you want to do only 30 cranks and want to do CNC I suggest you find someone with a shopbot and have them do it for you. Cheaper faster no learning curve for you and you can have your blanks in a week not 6 to 8 months to figure out everything that's involved. I have a shopbot ( unfortunately disassembled right now due to lack of space to set it up) it took me along time to get it up and running to where I could produce parts in my old business. Before I purchased the shopbot I made a copy carver, took me about a week to build it and for 30 cranks it would work to quickly cut out rough blanks Good luck

That should work. There was a thread about two months ago using smoothon foam on top of regular smoothon resin to give ballast. I have used this method for a couple of years and never had a problem with the two resins sticking together so I don't think you will have a problem at all. It will take time to find the exact mixes but a little trial and error and you should be good.

Sorry dye sub is a different technology. What I am remembering is the solid ink system from Xerox. The first ones they made with this technology pulled the paper back and forth like the banner printers doing one color at a time. Those machine are now dinosaurs the newer models run like normal printers feeding the paper thru the machine.

Ben Actually laser printers are powder not ink. The powder is melted onto the paper not like inkjet. There is another technology called dye sub printing that melts coloured waxes to make images. I have never tried it, but seen the output, the colours are much more vivid than other methods and I believe that silver and gold can be produced. My main concern would be the fact of the wax not adhering to blanks or epoxies like the same problem with vinyl. The dye sub printers do not feed the paper thru like a regular printer they move the paper back and forth dropping microscopic drops of wax on the surface of the paper so the thickness is not as important as the other printers that need to be able to grab the paper to draw it thru the machine. It might be worth a try?

Here is a method that can be used without any special machines except for a printer. Things needed Scanner or digital photos of fish Krylon easy tack spray adhesive Toilet paper or tissue paper has to be very thin to work. Thin cardboard stock 8.5" x 11" card stock for business cards is good. Inkjet or laser printer Spray tissue paper on one side let dry. Stick tissue to cardboard, trim any tissue overhang. Adjust size of image to required size of bait in computer. Insert cardboard into printer making sure you are printing correct side of tissue paper. Voila you now have ultra thin decal to glue onto your blank. Important: make sure your tissue is not loose on cardboard especially leading edges or you will be picking out pieces of tissue paper out of your printer for weeks lol. A color Laser is better as it doesn't bleed like inkjet printers. Hope this helps some of the guys like me who are airbrush challenged.

Jonister, Please take videos of you negotiating with the Eskimo mothers for the urine of their newborn children. In fact maybe take a National Geographic team with you. Man from lower US States tied to stakes and eaten by polar bears after asking for Eskimo Baby Urine. ; )

Ray if you try and drink my mixture. After they find your body, they will be able to prop you up in the corner and leave you there for a few hundred years LOL

Mark as long as you remove all meat and tendons it works great. If you want to be really sure add a couple of drops of bleach and a few tablespoons of salt will kill almost anything and pickle it.

Soak the skins in borax for a day or so, I use to play around with taxidermy and that's what I used. I still have fish mounts that are 35 years old that look like they just came out of the water. Might work on bugs also ??? I forget the mix but as long as it is like a soup with borax and water it will work. Rinse off with clean water after and wrap over lure to shape and let dry. Or you could just look on EBAY for baby Eskimo Pee. : )

No offence to anyone, LOL That would take 1000 years to sell my old tackle alone, not to mention my personal effects that I collected over the years that would make me 4000 to 5000 years old before I get it all my personal stuff sold at 3 pieces per year? HAHAHAHA. Ok i admit I am a bit of a hoarder. ; ) Who ever these BOE BOE's are I think dey be smoking de Crack. Get real people your personal effects are yours to sell whenever and were you please and you have already paid the taxes on them. If someone is afraid to sell their personal used stuff for fear of getting busted by the tax man, I highly suggest that they not ever try being a business person, because they would not have what it takes to endure all the decisions one needs to make to be successful. Deer in the headlights syndrome. I am by no means telling anyone to cheat on taxes, pay what you need to. But don't get ridiculous giving away your hard earned money or property to some bean counter who writes some manual. Best of luck

The way I raised some money on ebay to persue my Hobby was to sell some of my used tackle. If you have anything that belongs to you, that you have used before that is no longer needed you are allowed to sell it in any manner (Garage sale, Craigslist, fleaBay ect ) without paying taxes or needing business licences. Of course this is within reason. Don't try and sell many thousands of dollars of stuff like this or you would probably raise alarm bells. Garages sales might need a local city permit depending how hungry for money your town might be.

Just curious Do you have to pay it in tax free states like New Hampshire ? I understand it's a Fed tax but these states claim to be tax free?

I apply the solarez inside my attached heated garage, but I have cured it outside in -22C temps, that's very cold. I don't like to put chemicals in my food nuker, so what I do sometimes to make it thinner is fill a bowl with boiling water and place the solarez container in it. It makes it really thin once it warms up and it stays thin for quite a while until the water starts to cool. Duck feathers, probably will take time to master a good technique, go slow and make sure it completely cures before moving to the next layer.

I wouldn't think humidity would be a factor considering this product is designed to be used to make or repair surfboards, and surfboards are mostly made near seasides which always have high humidity.
