It would probably cure as long as you don't put to many on at once and allow light to be able to get to the resin. I think if I wanted to do that I would do a row of feathers cure them, then do another row working to the front of the duckling lure.

Hairbrush watch out for hair balls, just kidding, I know you mean hair dryer. I am using the Gloss Resin for 2 years now, that explains why your results are different than what I get. You might want to try the gloss if you are ordering more. It does cure bone dry as they say.

Try to wipe the lures down with denatured alcohol/ ethonol or acetone and see if that takes the stickiness away Just for curiosity sake.

It should cure completely dry with no tackiness at all. I would call Solarez and ask what's up? Something doesn't seem right. I use the Solarez mostly as a sealer and to smooth out imperfections on raw poplar blanks and it always cures right away and I can touch it after 5 min in full sun and it is dry and hard. After bringing the blanks inside in 24 hrs they are rock hard. If you are not getting these results I would be on the phone !

I shake up the solarez and brush it on and cure it right away so the wax rising to the surface shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes max.

Overcast sky's shouldn't matter all that much, as long as you can cast a shadow you should be alright. Like I mentioned above once it starts to cure it continues. Humidity might be a problem but as you said before you where worried about it getting too hot in the UV light box so that kinda rules that out. I have cured outside in the middle of the Summer and it gets very humid here and I never had a problem. Give the Popsicle stick method a try, it should start too rule out some of the possible issues.

If the Popsicle stick cures perfectly the only other possible problem would be something in your paints or sealers that you might have applied to your lures that is reacting with the solarez.

Try this. Take a Popsicle stick stir it for a minute or so, let the excess drip off the stick and then bring it outside and leave it in the sun for 10 -15 minutes. It should be hard and dry after that and will continue to cure by itself for hours getting harder as time passes , temperature does not matter, I have cured solarez in minus degrees temps. By doing this you will rule out the light and the possibility of a bad batch. Good luck

The only benefits to running a small business at this level are the tax write offs, car, gas, equipment, rent for home warehouse/ basement, rent for office/ spare room, occasional meal/ business meeting ,work clothes, bookkeeping service charge/wife's bill, heating AC bills by percentage of space used for business and on and on. Then if you are lucky you make a profit, but certain people might not want to make a profit, but just break even depending on your situation (retired on a pension) were you can just lower some of your living expenses When you are making big profits $75000.00 above expenses that is another story, but I would guess that 99.9 % of bait builders are not and never will. Nothing wrong with a business not making money indefinitely : )))

You don't need a patent and probably would not get one anyways, unless you have really designed something new. To protect yourself you should always have a lawyer draft up a contract between you and the mold maker and anyone in your supply chain that touches your product including EMPLOYEES. You need a non compete and non disclosure clause to make it binding. If someone does not want to sign it move on to the next company/person. Then and only then you can sue their a***** off, at least in the USA.

I use 1 3/4" screw eyes cast directly into the mold and have never had a problem. I make 5 to 10 inch musky baits with them.

I use a product called sonite wax when I pour silicone molds. I think you can use petroleum jelly (Vaseline) but it might be smart to check with mold material manufacturer. I used poplar to make my masters, I find it holds detail better if you want to recast many molds in the future.

You can probably find 1/4" to 1/2" styrofoam balls at a good sized dollar store for much less than those ( 1000 balls for a dollar ). If not try craft stores. They are used to fill glass vase for flower arrangements and stuff like that. It's not any harder to thread them on a wire. If I was to do this I would make sure not to place any to close to the front or tail of the bait or it will crack or snap.

Depending on the core size it will probably weaken the resin. I tried adding small styrofoam balls into the mix once and the bait came out looking great, until lucky one day I dropped it and it broke into a few pieces before I started to sell them. It will snap or crack at the weakest spots because the resin will not bind to the wood. Don't forget Bagley or any other commercial manufacterer doesn't pour resin they inject a very hard plastic.
