  1. I have been doing the same as Anglinarcher, regular polyurethane on the bottom and foam on top for a cou ple years now . It was my little secret. OH Well secrets out. LOL The only problem with he foam on top is you really need to seal it well or you will get air bubbles that work there way up through the Etex and become impossible to fill once they start, it's cosmetic since there is nothing in the lure to take on water but it is a pain to fix. The bond is stronger that either part it actually melts together since both are polyurethane especially if you pour both one on top of each other within a few minutes of each other.
  2. It's a crank for a crank bait. LOL. I have no idea???

    Casting Lures

I have used the SmoothOn foam basically the same thing and used Solarez to seal it up because you get bubbles in the foam at the pour holes of the mold. The foam lure needs to be sealed or it will off gas and be a real PITA to topcoat.

    Rolling Lure

One of my favorite baits for pike and sometimes musky , is the old magnum Rapalas. You can twitch them like walking the dog baits and they pause and spin, stop and change directions, as long as you keep them moving in an erratic way the pike go insane. They follow them, strike and if they miss they keep on striking I have seen them strike 10 times before getting hooked. If I was to build a rolling bait I would copy the magnums and they have a pike like shape so it would be easy to paint them in a pike pattern. We use to call the action " The Dying Flutter"

Great can't wait to see how much it is to ship to the Great White North!!!!! Maybe I will just start dipping my lures in crude oil LOL

Anglinarcher Can the product be applied on top of Solarez? Does it smell bad/strong I tried to open the link for material safety sheet on Alumilites website and it does not work, but the other links do? You might want to tell them to fix that it looks fishy, excuse the wording : ) You might want to suggest a mid range size to sell as you can't dip a musky bait in the small size and I don't see many people putting out 90 bucks to test it.

Why is the guy in the video applying it in freezing temperatures ? You can see his breath it's so cold! Does it need to so cold to get a thick enough coat?

I am always afraid of products, when the link to the Material safety sheet does not work!!!!!!!! A lot more expensive than Solarez WOW
  10. LOL Mark Keep going you will eventually finish all the lures. 1 shot for me 1shot lure 1shoooot meeee 1chooot luuuuuuury 1/:-:/:;-: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
  11. I layer different things on each coat, glitter, paints and sometimes foils to get 3d effects. I can take up to a week and a bit. They are big baits up to 10 inches.
  12. Thanks for the buffing idea Old1ncal I will give it a try, maybe it will help to speed up my production. I really like Solarez, but I can't sell lures to my customers that are matte, so I have been coating with Etex which takes 4ever to do four coats. Are you brushing on the Solarez or dipping? Mark Maybe you can try regular alcohol 1 shot on the lure 1 shot for you repeat until finished LOL
  13. I have been using it as a sealer since people have started talking about it here on TU. So far so good, I haven't had any problems. It seems to contract and swell the same as Etex so I have never had any splitting or bursting problems, mind you I usually do at least 4 coats of Etex on top.
  14. Mark do you find there is a problem with solarez over wood? I use it as my base coat/sealer over poplar and then Createx then finish with Etex as my topcoats (musky baits). Just curious? Never had a problem doing it like that.
  15. I am lucky to have a big wash sink next to the place where I airbrush. Turn on the hot water and spray the brush and a quick back flush another spray and it's clean. I can even do an end wash out and leave it and most of the time it's good to go the next session. If not I take it apart and throw it in the ultrasonic cleaner and it's like new.

    Am I Allowed

Nice. The first bait I ever built had a lip like that, and I caught a 25lbs lake trout on it first time out. I don't know what those are but I would buy them if anyone knows the maker.
  17. Maybe you will loose the lure and in 10000 years from now someone or something will find the lure in a dried out lakebed and wonder what the frig where these people all about?
  18. Canada got rid of penny's you could use those there the same size

    Hookset.com

I'll check it out, maybe if enough builders support them with their products it might become an alternative to Flea-Bay!!!! Ya never know. I met the guys who started up Amazon at a trade show just as they were starting out. Who'd a thunk it ! LOL Wish I had bought shares
  20. I use the grey pipe wrap from the plumbing Dept. of the hardware store to ship to my customers. I cut it into half inch long rings and then cut them in half to get 2 out of each ring. I push the barbs into the foam. They fit over the trebles perfectly size3/0 hooks and never fall off like the plastic hook protectors. The hooks are so well covered that there is no chance of any scratches on the lure. I even started using them on the rods on my boat, no more trebles caught in the carpet. Best of all they cost next to nothing. I don't know if they sell pipe wrap in the southern States, but anyone who lives up north knows what it is.
  21. That's what I heard, but I am a fisherman not a Hockey Fan LOL
  22. Sorry not offend anyone, I just never found bass to be the smartest fish in the pond. Maybe that's where the term Dumbass comes from LOL.
