  1. Then just rent a concrete drill and drill out a dryer vent hole and install a vent. Any house that has more than one dryer vent will never loose resale value : ) at least that's what you can tell the wife.
  2. Silver Fox If you have a small window in the room, you could remove the pane and replace it with plexi or lexan and drill / cut out a 4 inch hole for a dryer vent and a small bathroom fan, that's what I did and it works great for everything from pouring resins, epoxying, solarez and painting or anything else that is nasty to breath in. I hooked it up to a big clear storage tub with lots of room to work in. If that's not possible the box fan you have is usually 20" x 20" which is the exact size of a furnace filter to at least filter out anything airborne. You will be surprised at what the filter will look like after a couple of weeks LOL
  3. What do you use for glue?
  4. I have never ever had a fish buy one of my baits!!!
  5. Depends on the type of paint. But it also is a cumulative effect of all the stuff we breath in over the years. You only get two lungs and once they are done that's about it for you. Always best to protect them. As for size of paint booth the bigger the booth the bigger and stronger the fan you need.
  6. I think I read that you can nuke it in the MW or place the container in hot water so it heats up to make it thinner. I don't know if you are using the right solarez if you have to use mekp, because the one I use works just fine without, just sunlight. Try heating it up and brushing thin light coats and curing them quickly, that's what I do for sealing and my base coat and it works fine. I don't use it as a topcoat but rather Etex just cause I like shiny lures.

    Mixing Etex?

Go to the dollar store, buy 30 clear plastic shot glasses for a buck. Pour equal amounts into 2 of them, then one into the other, mix for a couple minutes and then let stand for a few more and away you go. Start brushing. I usually do four musky baits by using this method. Very little waste and then toss it all in the garbage, no clean up.

    Auto Clear

Your right Bob isocyanates are really nasty. They can give you some real bad lung damage. I was surprised to find out from 3M that no face respirators can be used only the external feed air hoods. Also a warning to you guys who pour 2 part polyurethane resins that they contain isocyanates and it is dangerous until it cures.
  9. I am sure someone else will reply to this, but those hooks look fine. My rule of thumb is that as long as the hooks can't hook together it's fine.
  10. What type of epoxy are you using? I have used all types of brushes and find it really doesn't matter that much. Now I just use an acid / flux brush and have used it well over 100 times just cleaning it with acetone afterwards. I usually coat my bait with Etex and then give it a quick blast ( a second or two MAX ) with a propane torch then I place the bait on my turner and wait about 5 mins and do it again, I never have any bubbles anymore. If you can get a torch head with a trigger it makes it a lot easier. I don't think a lighter would work unless it's one of the torch kind? It's not the heat as much that breaks the bubbles it's the CO2.
  11. I use Etex over smooth-on resin. It works fine. The problems start if you use 2 part foam resins. You really need to find something to seal the bait first or it will be bubble-palooza on the tops where the pour hole is and those bubbles can never be covered by more coats of epoxy as they will just keep coming threw.
  12. Nathan X2 Don't even know where it put the scroll saw LOL
  13. Both companies make floating resins or you can add micro balloons to make them float. They also make 2part foams that cure rock hard but these will float on the surface and take a lot of lead to sink them, it depends how deep you want your lures to be in the water.
  14. Can or has anyone used the concrete sealer on top of polyurethane casting resin ( Alumilite, Smooth-on, ect.) to see if paint adheres to it better than trying to paint directly on to the resin??? In other words like a base coat.

    Glove

Salty you forgot to ask at what time he usually fishes there. So you can get there earlier ; )
  16. The resin that I use is only available in a dark tan colour and I would like to turn it white without painting it as I loose some detail. Does anyone know of a way of adding colour without affecting the properties of the resin?
  17. I saw a guy use a shipping container, but can't find the photos now. 8 x 8 x 40 feet with tables and shelving running down both sides. Had AC and a wood stove with outside dust removal. Really nice setup and he only payed under $6000.00 for everything including tools. Probably has the best security out there and if you move it's easily mobile. I would use one if I had the space and the city here allowed it.
  18. What are the ratios that you use?
  19. No problem Nathan I think we will need at least three samples, one now, one in Dec and another in Feb and I think each sample may take us 3 weeks each. You just never know about those salt levels in that area!!!!
  20. Naw just looking for an excuse to go to Florida. Going to tell the wife that I need to go down there for experimental reasons and get some salt water!!! Shhhhhh ; )
  21. This is the best way to weight a bait. If I want to make saltwater lures would you use saltwater ?
  22. Nice, looks really solid. You could make a two dowel pin system for the master and the blanks that could be flipped over so you could do both sides one after another if you like. That way you wouldn't have to glue the sides together.
  23. Please post the pictures Don. I think many of the members would like to see another type of machine/method. I know I would.
  24. JBlaze The company chrome solutions seems to have gone out of business. Too bad it looks really cool and not Toxic
