  1. Bass Tackle and BTS are the only other companies I have seen produce a slide bar mold (hand injection). The last time I had a quote from Bass Tackle I was told they won't make slide bar molds any more so that leaves Bob. Leonard is the only one I have seen that makes them the same way a large automated production mold is made with a slide bar across the body and the rear gates allowing the mold to be shot in both solid/laminates and fire tails. It does come at a cost but at least you don't have to worry much about the bond between the tail and body.

    Tube Dipping

You've got to let the first colour set up a little before you dip the second.

Cant copyright a mold. It would be Patent infringement. First, the original mold designer would have to apply and be granted a patent on the design or function of the bait. Then they would have to enforce it. As of right now I am not aware of any of the mold makers available to us that hold a patent on any of the molds being sold, it would plain cost too much to get into that.
  4. It's the same stuff everyone else is selling
  5. All soft plastisols need to be heated to activate them basically. If you really want to get into this your best bet would be to hit up a goodwill or other similar thrift store and buy a used cheap microwave, then grab a couple pyrex cups, butter knife, infrared thermometer and protective gloves and go to town
  6. did you make sure it was 100% mixed up?
  7. This is designed and built for high volume. Whether or not this is within reason for a hobbyist will all depend on the hobbyist. I cut a lot of tubes in a year so for me it was a no brainer. The last year of cutting them with a hand press really took it's toll on my shoulder so just to not have pain after cutting a bunch of tubes was worth the price of the cutter. If you're looking for the cost head over to shopbaitjunkys.com and contact Leonard directly. He will be able to pass all of that info on to you.
  8. That injector is only compatible with their Shooting Star injection system.
  9. Store them in a freezer bag when not in use. The general consensus I have seen posted is to change them when you get the slightest hint of plastic smell through it. I tend to change them more often.

April is his wife and has always been helping him (at least she was 8 years ago when I last ordered from him)
  11. http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/32109-anglers-choice-tube-cutter-from-baitjunkies/ Here is my tube cutter.
  12. It can be tailored to whatever tube you need to cut
  13. Shoot Leonard a message on his site and he can get you pricing on it, It's not cheap but priced better than comparable presses currently available (and it cuts 2 at a time vs one)
  14. It honestly sounds like you are orienting the mold under the press in the wrong direction. try spinning it 90* and see what happens. Without a picture that would be my only guess. *edit* if the body is laminated properly then you will have to play with your temperatures to get the laminate to come out right.
  15. I realize that as I own a few (use them on a daily basis as well). You are basically telling someone just getting into pouring baits that they should be spending $1200.00 - $1600.00 JUST to make stick baits with even salt distribution. Sorry but that isn't really the best advice one could be giving.
  16. Wasn't worth the hassle to me so I gave up on it.
  17. Why though? It isn't going to solve the issue of the salt suspending in the cup before it gets to the mold, only stirring with do that.
  18. Yup, if it gets in your mold at all good luck getting the baits out.
  19. Not really. That bond coat will freaking bond to the plastic alright
  20. you'll still have to stir stir and stir
  21. Not if it is dulled up it won't. It is the very shiny reflective surface that causes problems in the microwave
  22. I should have been more clear. He didn't necessarily overcook the plastic but rather overcooked the colour. I have found over the years purples are very sensitive to heat, you will almost cook the colour out of it, enough and you could reach a grey with some.
  23. You're overheating the plastic, get a good thermometer and keep an eye on the temps. Heat stabilizer is already present in the plastic when it is manufactured.
