  1. Have a mold company, like Zorn Molds, quote a creature with rings just like the DBomb, $85/cavity will be real attractive after LOL
  2. far as i can recall it was sold. You will not find the super thin ribs like the DBomb, it would cost way too much.
  3. The paint for plastics is different from vinyl jig paint
  4. Temp controllers and injectors are the same (except they are 3/4" now, the fill ports can be changed to accept a 5/8" injector if you ask for the parts) the pots are stainless 12qt pots sitting on a custom 2000 watt disc heater. What I like best about this is the fact that the injector now seals with an o-ring when filling (they have a new manifold for Bear's that uses the same fill port and o-ring to seal the injector as you fill) I've had this system running for a week now (have had it for a couple weeks total) and so far it's an animal. If you are getting this and plan to use it to it's potential then start stock piling plastic now, I've been able to run nearly 10 gallons through in a day.
  5. nope, stick a toothpick in and pull out the piece of plastic.
  6. didn't take more than a few seconds. I actually found this far less cumbersome than 2 injectors and a blending block, moved from mold to mold faster and easier.
  7. if you are prepared to deal with the settling properly, it is a very good plastisol based on the samples I have played with.
  8. Spike it's plastic is manufactured by Color Technologies (who happens to own spike it and lure works) so no it is not Calhoun plastic they sell but rather it's their own. Calhoun manufacturers their own, MF mixes their own, Lurecraft mixes their own, I have heard DoIt's is Poly One (just what i've heard albeit from a reputable source), Chemionics manufacturers their own as well. There are quite a few formulas for plastisol, It all comes down to the quality of the resins etc. used in the plastic.
  9. he's not looking for colourant, more like the JJ's Magic stuff.
  10. I completely forgot about that, they won't sell to you if your going to cut it and re-sell it.
  11. you have to call as you are not buying it from "spike it" but rather their parent company.
  12. I had several of Bobs senko molds (identical to these) and poured the snot out of them, as far as my experience I had no issue with these pouring good Mike, poured a better worm than the 2 del mart molds of the same bait that I had at the same time. They are definitely not an injection mold. Like I said, hand pour it and top off the cavities as it sucks the plastic in (couple 3 times should be sufficient) and it should work out for you.
  13. hand pour it and keep topping it off until it stops sucking the plastic in.
  14. In the mass production world using the large machines swirls are called "Pulse Laminates". They achieve the look by pulsing each injection nozzle back and forth to fill the mold. give you any ideas?
  15. MF has a sinking softener listed too
  16. Betcha they are using this http://www.pouryourownworms.com/Soft-Sinking-Plastic_c13.htm
  17. And this one will only work with the full $1000 - $1400 system.
  18. This is correct, Chris Archer was making all of the injection molds for Bear at one point.
  19. Tell that to Zoom, Reaction Innovations and Strike King I believe it is Zoom that has never lost a patent suit.
  20. He's a machinist, I have hear a TON of BS come out of his mouth over the years so I am hard pressed to believe anything he says.
