  1. can't shoot laminates with that mold.
  2. there never was worry of any kind of patent infringement as there was never a patent filed for this bait. and if i recall correctly Del already had a near exact copy of this without the Do It logo on it.
  3. It isn't your problem, set your pots at 350 (once you figure it out you can play with it). Set your block at 160. once everything is at the proper temps load just a little bit of plastic in the injector and rotate the block up and set the injector in it for 2-3 min. then squirt a little of that plastic in the hole in the block. set the injector back in it and you should see some plastic squeeze out, rotate and slowly load the injector. this should get you a full load, if it doesnt right away try it 2-3 times. If you still have issues then try replacing the cupped o-rings on the pistons of the injector. there are 4 total and they wont be the cheapest things either. this should solve the problem you have. It takes a little bit to learn this thing but it is the cats meow when you do, I use mine daily.
  4. The water based will stick to itself after setting, thats why they recommend either dipping or coating with the solvent clear. the solvent based will be fine without doing anything to it. the clear does make the colours pop though.
  5. Rite-Hete would be one of them yes. there are a few out there. Don't get me wrong, a presto pot has it's place as an inexpensive pot that can get the job done, but it is by far not the best thing out there.
  6. Thats funny LOL, if you want something that heats evenly and is truly controlled, spend the money on a pot that was designed to heat and hold hot plastic instead of using a cheap pot made for cooking your dinner.
  7. Yes it will be fine, there are only a few molds out there that wont laminate properly and they are due to the cavities not the mold layout.
  8. you should really do some research into the different types of patents. i believe the RI holds a function patent (i could be wrong) on the beaver, so the design of the bait as a whole means nothing.
  9. problem is the patent laws protect the design even from those copying the protected "item" for personal use as well. Any of the mold companies should be willing to custom cut a mold for you for a price.
  10. I see you've met Bob LMAO Good luck with this venture, I hope you can achieve your goals with this site.
  11. made from silicone as far as I can tell
  12. There is more than one way to skin a cat, when it comes to doing anything creative, the only thing anyone SHOULD do is try it for themselves and see what works best for them. just because that works good for you doesn't mean it will for someone else.
  13. I would stick to the colourant sold, all it takes is a couple key colours and you can mix them together to get many different shades.
  14. DO NOT USE FOOD COLOURING!!!!!!!!!!!! you absolutely do not want to add anything water based to the hot plastic.
  15. The fundamental problem with that will be that its not the temp, but the viscosity of the plastic that needs to be the same and depending on the colours used the temp difference needed to achieve the same viscosity can be a fairly wide difference in some cases.
  16. its faster to do it the way you are doing it
  17. I would like to know why a 1400+ cfm fan is needed for everyone? the last hvac specialist i spoke to (who designed my exhaust system) used a formula to calculate the proper fan size based on the room i am working in, the size of the hood, the size of the exhaust pipes, and the size of the fresh air intake, and i will tell you i am only running a 500 cfm exhaust.
  18. D&J Plastics, Big Bite is their private label company (owned by the same person) they are capable of producing a ton of product and supply quite a few companies. unfortunately quality isn't their forte.
  19. http://www.wired2fish.com/inside-the-zoom-bait-company-factory/ dont look like it to me
  20. Lakeside Bait Molds has been absolutely excellent to me (and others as i understand it.) I have several full on custom molds from them, they price their work very competitively and have always delivered when they say they will. my first molds were requested with a very tight deadline, and Chuck and Paulette went above and beyond to deliver. I have several more molds in the works with them as we speak Bear has always treated me well as well as bass tackle. Del can go suck an egg.
  21. Bears baits will ship here Lure craft will ship here M-F will ship here.
