What anout the difference between the snootie and the brush jig? Not trying to avoid the snootie I just want to know more. Thanks

I have a bullet bass jig, casting jig, and the poison tail mold. I was looking at the snootie jig mold and it don't seem much different. I know a lot o you guys on here love the snootie jig. Is there much difference if any between the snootie and all of those other molds I have? Thanks

I am in no way a expert. Making these is what goth started wanting to make. What I used to make an umbrella rig is .051" spinnerbait wire. It is a stainless wire that I pick up locally from a tackle shop. It is a little bit thicker wire than most. It came in a 10' roll and I have made a bunch. All for myself to experiment. I have caught plenty of fish on this rig. Caught a 28 lb stripe last year and it bent it up bad. It was able to be bent back and more fish was caught in it.

Thanks for all the replies. When I first started fishing jigs I gained a lot of confidence in gamblers football jig. I found some for $1.00 each (skirts included) and I bought 100. I am now down to only a couple. I believe it has a gamagatsu extra wide gap. These jigs with the 90 degree bend just don't look right to me because of what I have been fishing. This mold was given to me from a friend so I am just learning. Any suggestions from anyone is always appreciated. Thanks again.

I been building jigs for a few months and I have learned a lot by reading this site. I have learned to tie my own skirts and I am addicted to making my own jigs. I have the do it mold fbw- 4-af. I am wanting to make sure I build a jig that will have a good hook up ratio. I have been building these with a 5/0 mustad 46 but the hook seems too light and too small. I have not got a chance to fish these so I am not for sure. What is everyone's favorite hook and size to go in the 1/2 oz and 3/4 oz? I want to make sure I have a hook that will give me the best hook up ratio.
