  1. First of all, thank you Bob for sharing the infro. That's a very nice looking bait. Hope mine turns out half that good. Thanks again for taking time to help out a newbie.
  2. I'm trying to make a river shad swim bait. One thing is there is a spot just behind the eyes. I hand pour. I know how to make an eye socket hole. Can you make something like that to make a spot? What would you fill it with? paint? Then dip like to cover the eyes. Not sure myself. Plus the shad has a spilt v tail would you go way or put a thumper tail on it.? BTW it's a thread fin, I'm trying to get it to look like . I would like to get anybody's
  3. I have used LC 60-40. Which wasn't bad. But CCM don't have a medium-hard or it's not on thier site.
  4. Saltwater, some of the fish got some big teeth. Soft plastisol would be like one fish per bait.

Has anybody ever used CCM Hard plastisol? Just wondering If it's as good as the say on thier site. I have used LC hard is there any diff. in the two of them? The price is better at CCM, but cheaper ain't always better. Thank you for your help.
  6. Here in Florida it's all ready getting into the upper 80's. when I started this "HOBBY" it was very cool in my garage. Already I have found out A) it takes longer for the baits to setup in the mold. if the door is open at night and the lights are on. Bugs will fly into a bait you are pouring. Hmmm maybe a new scent.(moth). So I got to thinking. Is there anything I should know about pouring in a garage, when it will be 100+. Do I need to put anything in a cooler place? Other then me. Bagged baits, powders anything you know of? BTW the bug died real fast.
  7. I stopped buying LC colors Two times I got reds which were not the color it said it was. Bright red was more like ox blood way too purple. Tomato red is way too orange! must have been yellow tomatos. So I buy at Spike-it. Colors seem a little weaker(need more drops) but I got like 7 diff. colors and all were the color they were named.
  8. I was at Bass proshop in Orlando fl. The other day was looking at paint. There was a guy from The UK buying a lot of Pro-tec paint. It's just a little under $7 there. He told me that in the UK the stuff is over $18. Wow guess we're lucky to live here. lol
  9. Not long ago i was fishing in ICW(saltwater). Saltwater the bright colors work better or seems to. The Blues were running. They can sure mess up your tackle. I was using white, orange and yellow jig heads. Was getting bites and fish. Got my line cut off by a blue. Put on a black jig head and nothing no bites, no nothing. After like 20 cast I took off the black and put on a yellow first cast fish on. I know this don't mean a lot, but I don't use black jigheads any more.
  10. This is a good site! What makes it great are the people on it. Thank you everybody.
  11. I still new to this whole bait making thing. Started saying I was only going to spend like $200 bucks on this hobby... Now after going over $500 lol and still wanting more. I have made like 30 batchs with diff. colors and flake. If I was smart I would just go to the bait store and ask "hey what's your biggest seller" and copy it. But I want to do my own stuff as far as color and flake goes. Messed up a lot of what I have tried to do.Too much flake, too little, color too dark or too light. Well anyway. I did notice that I use a lot of Silver .015 flake more then 2 times that of the other flake I have. So i guess what I'm asking do you guys have a flake and size that you use a lot more of? Also do you have a colorant that IYO is good enough by itself without any bling to catch fish?
  12. Thank you guys, I'll give it a try.
  13. I got a swimbait mold made of rtv from LC not long ago. Started off good nice shine all over bait. Now after making 20-30 baits the sides of the bait is real dull. The head and tail still shine but not the sides. What's the fix for this?
  14. I have used the saltwater and the 60-40. Good stuff. Make sure you shake it well. Some smoke, but only when it's ready to pour. very few bubbles. Fairy clear. Does take almost a week for the plastic smell to go away from the baits. Maybe if I let it set in water longer that might help the smell go away. I like the saltwater best, but that's iwhat I fish in. The price is ok.
  15. Went fishing today and got my first fish on a lure I made myself. Curly tail grub with copper powder and copper and black flake. With a chartreuse tail. On a jighead I painted myself. It a kick to know it worked. Thank you TU and all the people who posted to help me learn the how tos. Got a seatrout too small to keep but sure was fun.
  16. I made like three molds with pop and then I tried DWP. One part water, three parts DWP comes out right most of the time. IMP makes a better mold.
  17. Does anybody know who carries just Red coloring? I been using LC to get most of my stuff; But after two tries with their bright red and tomato red. Both not beening what they named them. I'm looking for somewhere esle to get Red.
  18. Thanks for your help that mustad looks like a good hook
  19. The Do-it mold I'm looking at is a RHB-7-A. Hook not so sure about .I'll be fishing in saltwater. I'm looking at the Matzuo 9064. like the price, not sure about how good it is. Eagle Claw 635 same like the price not sure about the hook. I use owners red circle hooks with cut or live bait and are happy with them. Oh yeah the hook size is #2. If you know a good hook at a good price that don't rust after one use, I'm all ears or all eyes lol. Thank you for your time.
  20. All I want to do is go from a 1/8 oz round head to a 1/4 oz without going to a bigger hook. Can this be done in a do-it mold? or is there some other mold maker? Is there some other way to do it that I don't know about? Thank you for your time.
  21. Man that looks so much better! I now make sure I have a tub of water near, just in case. I wear oven mutts that go all the way up to my elbows. Don't know if thats good enough and I don't want to fine out the hard way. That hand looks real good now.
