  1. Plastic : 1 cup 7 Drops school bus yellow. 4 Drops black. 1 Drop Watermelon (optional) 1/4 cup small black glitter. 1/4 cup large black glitter
  2. I let mine sit in water for a few minutes then pull them out and air dry. Making your own molds get addicting quick! Remember water around hot plastic is extremely dangerous so keep your cooling tub where it cant be spilled (or dripped) into your plastic.
  3. Another thing you can do is look through some of the recipes to see what you might want to make and get those colors. I would say black is a must, you can add that to many colors and really change the shade and make them less transparent. Experimenting is at least half the fun but right down everything!
  4. I printed some labels for my baits, and some other projects. If you have word you can buy many different style labels at walmart or any office store, set up your logo and print. this was a lot cheaper then having bags printed.
  5. Nice, there is little more rewarding then catching a fish on a bait you made yourself.
  6. I've made molds that inject from the top with the main mold flat side down, you can pretty well fill them from any point you want on a bait that big but you will want extra space for plastic to go into to account for shrinkage. The only other factor I take into account is when I cut the spruce off I want the bait to look right. One a side note on 2 piece pop molds I know the air will leak out between the halfs. I usually don't need venting with them.
  7. If you are pouring decent molds they actually come apart pretty easy, I noticed a lot of people have a lot of trouble with PoP, but seldom do they follow the mixing instructions, I find measuring the PoP and water and using cold water solves most of my problems. I also use tapered flexable containers as it allows the molds to come out easily. Don't be afraid to use extra PoP, I always use two cups for every pour so I have good molds to work with. When you mix the PoP 2 - 1 you should be able to coat the mold with PJ in 30 minutes or so then pour the top half in another 30 mins you should be able to lightly score the halfs all the way around and work the razor blade between the halfs like a screw driver it will separate almost instantly. Putting this on my video to-do list.
  8. Put a very small screw or a couple of bbs in the bottle, I put these in all my colorants. It will help with the mixing process a lot less shaking to get it mixed up, not for the silver you have to experiment with that color it takes a lot of drops to get a deep silver, I use a combo of that and heavy silver flake between the two you can get a great silver finish. You might even want to start with 4 oz add 15-20 drops pour a small bait add 15-20 drops pour another bait etc until you get what you are looking for. Just remember always count the drops and keep track, the one time you forget it will be just what you want and you'll spend hours trying to refigure it.
  9. I can see now asking for negative feedback definitely wasn't the way to g. I am at this point, sorry I even posted the question.
  10. have you tried my site? I have close to 200 color recipes on there I gathered from around the web.
  11. Well my intent was not to self promote for sure, I don't sell custom baits, I just wanted to provide people with options. There is so much great information on this forum, it never occurred to me that they where deleting threads on the subject. Thanks for the info, ill come up with another way to get what I'm looking for.
  12. I want to add a page of custom bait suppliers, but their are a ton of them and I haven't done any business with them. I want to use yalls recommendations for the people who visit the forum that decide not to make their own baits. Please list the name of the site and roughly how big your order was (or at least min/no min/). If you had a bad experience list that as well and I will use all these to try and present some good options to our forum users! thanks for the help.
  13. I also have to say I have never had any discolor reheating, I have used bears and lurecraft so far and they reheat several times with ease. I'm wondering if you could have some bad colorant, bad plastic , or just overheating would be the most common problems.
  14. You could also buy the mold without the fin and either have it added or carve it into the mold yourself basically its just a V carved in the baits back. I also have 12 mold suppliers listed on my site with links to the kinds of molds they sell. I might have someone on their you haven't seen yet. Good Luck!
  15. I am not sure if you found the mold you are looking for, but I have 12 mold suppliers on my website and the types of molds the sell with quick links right to their products. I hope you find what you are looking for.
  16. Thank you very much, I plan on having a lot more to come, especially for newbies. I keep telling the wife I should quit my job and fish, make baits, work on the web but she isn't falling for it yet.
  17. thanks I need to add an email link for anyone that wants to submit any new colors. I also just added a bunch of links for molds, starter kits, and suppliers. im going to keep feeding the beast and see what happens.
  18. You'll have to copy and paste I think Http://lonestarbaitco.com
  19. I mix my pop 2 parts pop to 1 part water, the stuff is so cheap I don't worry about wasting it. Use cold water for longer working times. After the bottom has set for a while 30 minutes to 1 hour, I mix and pour the top half I also use PJ it works fine, I separate the molds as soon as I feel they will not break and let them cure in separate halves. When I'm in a hurry (always a bad idea) I heat them in the oven otherwise I just let them dry on the counter. I have a 6 part video on making a two part mold.
  20. The only good I use I have for my hot plate is using it to preheat my injector before I shoot. It does not have to be to hot to handle just warm is good enough. Once you shoot some plastic through it it will stay hot after that I pull the injector almost full, then shoot then expel the hot plastic back to my "draw cup". If you keep your draw cup covered it will stay hot enough to shoot several times before it needs further heating, and the more plastic in the cup the longer it holds template as well. Errr temperature not template.
  21. I have combed every website I could find and posted all the color recipes I could find into one page on my website, as soon as I can ill make it a PDF, word doc, and excel spreadsheet available for free download.
  22. I use godaddy for hosting and domain names, it was 10.00 and 50 to host for the year. I'm am a rookie with web hosting also. I use coffecup software to make the page, you can go custom or buy templates. They have a shopping cart creator I plan on getting in the future, you can sell all your items manage inventory set up shipping and once you buy it, it's yours no monthy fee $90.00.
  23. If your looking for newbie info I have several videos you can watch on my site, with a lot more to come.
  24. This can be a very fun very rewarding hobbie, but you needs a ton of cash, (if you want the professional look) And even more time. You can make your molds from baits disappearing off the shelves but that takes even more time then pouring/injecting. If you just need some custom colors there are a ton of guys that will pour baits for you.
  25. The hotter the plastic the easier it is to pour, the bait cavity fills in so much nicer. Be carefull not to burn the plastic.
