Here is a Rapala DT 6 that we installed a risto rap #7 bill in. It now dives 16'. You just have to cut out the bill with an exacto knife. Tedious work

VMC black nickel, short shank #4, #6, #3 are what I use 99% of the time. I used to be a gamakatsu fan until I straightened out a couple of hooks.

I don't think you can make these eyes from a standard eye. They are very unique and large

The little john eyes are way too small, but the fat papa's on eBay come with eyes. I just don't know where I'm going to get eyes for the real fat papa's I bought to repaint.

Thats a fat papa the OP posted and I have never seen a fat papa blank. Unpaintedlures do sell the little johns though. They will not float with epoxy

I recently met a friend of a friend that has been building crankbaits for 15 years or so and it is all he uses. 3 dips with a 6-8 hour dry time between dips. I just bought a gallon and have dipped a few baits so far. Here are some warts I dipped just to show you what the clear looks like. Very smooth and glossy, lighter than epoxy.
