  1. Rnd101, the guy who commented before was the painter of this and is a good friend of mine. If you do borrow pictures like this, we like to give credit to the painter. Just common courtesy around here.
  2. Becareful with the Acetone, if the plastic is cheap, it could crack from it, or remove some of the glue holding the bill together. I would suggest a clear coat over the bill as Hughesy stated. KBS works great. The other thing i use some times is Aztek Clear air brush paint. Works and holds up decent on a bill, but for clearest results you will need to clear coat it or polish the bill.
  3. you can use a tooth brush to flick it on there, or load up your airbrush tip and make a splatter effect with it. you will need to practice it to make sure you get the right look
  4. If you use KBS, you can dip it in KBS let it cure, then spray a flat clear over it such as rustoleum. I was told this works by a credible person.
  5. I could swear i saw some in one of my many lure searches. Maybe ill look again and let you know.
  6. Seen that too. when the wheel is off balance because some baits weigh more than others, it will kinda slam at one point on each rotation. you need to make sure that you have a strong enough motor that is able to resist the slipping when soemthing is off balance oon the wheel
  7. I agree with the rest of them on the rotation, if the rotation is too fast, it will not allow the etex to settle flat.
  8. X2 Hughesy if you want a blank canvas to work on. Soda blasting will not damage the plastic unlike other blasting or using chemicals. Usually when I repaint though, i scuff the bait up and use self etching primer.
  9. So youre talking for bigger baits onthat. I have belly hangers with the ballast attached to it.
  10. So you will be in Milwaukee next week? Say hi to my friend Jeff over at Rhino Tackle. I wont be at that one, but I may go to the one in Rothschild. I am in Wausau area. I do now have a source for Redwood that I am pretty pumped about. Currently just working on cranks, have some Resin stuff i am working on for musky/pike/monster bass. So you are saying White cedar has a better grain for it than the Red cedar. I did have some issues with drilling holes near the edge with the red cedar. but it may have been because I routered the edges before drilling the ballast hole.
  11. Does anyone change how they are sealing it depending on what wood they are using? I am using Redwood and Red Cedar. Not sure if i want to jump on the balsa chain yet.
  12. What is your preference for when to seal your baits? before hardware is installed? after hardware is installed? after most hardware is installed, but before big holes are drilled for ballast/hook hangers? Just wondering, I had one cedar crank rip along part of the grain due to the drill bit used when drilling the ballast hole before the bait was sealed. Thanks!
  13. Needle lube is the little blue oil that comes with most new Iwata airburshes.
  14. I appreciate all the responses. This is a new learning curve for me. If anyone else has any suggestions let me know. I will be trying a few of these. From what I am getting though... 1.) cut slots or drill holes in the back of the lip 2.) scuff (can skip this if you dont like it 3.) Goop the out of the back of the bill 4.) Insert bill into bait 5.) let cure
  15. I was planning on drilling the holes in the bill in the back. One thing i was curious about is should i scuff up the part of the bill that is inserted into the body. Any thoughts on if it is better to use a slow cure over the fast cure due to fast cures being more brittal?
  16. Did a search, couldn't find what i was looking for. Any perfered method for Circuit Board bill installations on a wooden crank? I have a million questions on this, so bear with me.
  17. I actually use Keyboard duster in my jars and works basically like Blox-ygen. Havent had the gel issue yet. Never thinned, or used plastic over it.
  18. You can speed up times by having a non-open heat source in the area where you are drying. A matter of 10 degrees will speed it up significantly. I have a light bulb on a baseboard thermostat in my drying/rotary box. Kicks it up to about 80-85 degrees and does wonders.
  19. Should have most of the stuff back in the week of the 12th...
  20. If you are talking about the DUO M65 Blank. I do. its called the D65
  21. try tying a different knot on the line tie, or use a clip on there. Then you will know the actual wobble. with the heavy braid being right tight to the line tie, you will have a different action. most of the twitch/ jerkbaits i have seen have a more flat lip angle to. That might change it a little. I am not an expert at all on these things, but just basing it off experience with plastic bait designs and how Rapalas react differently when they have the Rapala Knot tied over a regular knot.
  22. Jonas said his site was back up. He had a post on FB about it. Looks like he is going to just stick with stencils.
  23. My wife doesnt apprecaite my jokes much... But shes a red head, so that means the jokes on me...
  24. I tell my wife I am never growing up. She tells me I'm 35 with the mind of a 12 year old. Oooo some thing shiny! But isn't that true with most things... "The closer you get to the end.... the faster it goes"
  25. I don't know about saving pounds, but I know it would save me USD I already do this as a Half Living, so... Maybe this will make it full time!!!!
