  2. Do they have many color options or do you have to dye it? I tried calling but couldn't get through. I also found their website but nothing about lumaflex.
  3. I put a cup of uncooked plastic in the freezer last night. After about 10 hours or so it is still in its liquid form. The Pyrex cup its in is all frosted but the plastic is still liquid. I'll try cooking and shooting it this morning just to be sure its all good, but I have no reason to think it won't be OK.
  4. Thanks DaBehr. I would think there is a rather large number of baitmakers who like me, work out of there unheated garages. This would most likely be widely known if there was a problem with uncooked plastic freezing.
  5. Maybe I'll play it safe tonight and bring it all in the house. I think I'll take a cup of plastic and put in the freezer and see what happens.
  6. I was wondering if it had a lower freezing point. What about liquid colorant?
  7. I was shooting some baits last night in my garage and got to wondering if liquid plastic has an issue if it freezes? Tonight we are supposed to dip below freezing for the first time this year and all my liquid plastic is out in my unheated garage. Will plastic still be usable after it freezes and thaws?

    Del's craw mold

http://www.lurecraft.com/mobile/6-CL-Mold-1-Cavity-Injected-Mold-2-Pc-Aluminum/productinfo/5XDEL-17217/ Looking to buy this mold. I just can't let myself spend the $130 for a single cavity mold. Anybody here have one they would be willing to part with?
  9. Neat idea. I might have to use it myself! You might not need the heat if you use a pair of pliers with more leverage. I'm thinking Channel Locks
  10. Anybody know a source for star flash material? Mud Hole sells it but they only have 10 colors. I'd like more selection if available.
  11. I have a few question for you guys who build spinnerbaits. 1) Do you prefer Worth or Sampo? 2) Where do you get your swivels? 3) How much do you spend on your swivels? 4) Do you buy with split rings or do you assemble them yourself? The reason I ask is that I have found someone who will sell me Sampo swivels for a descent price but I have to purchase at least 1000 of them. I am wondering if there are enough people who would be interested in buying some assembled swivels to make it worth my while to assemble them and sell them. I Haven't come up with a set price yet but I'd like to keep it under $0.75 each. Any of interest?
  12. I don't want to mess with gold plating. That seems a bit overkill for a $5.00 spinnerbait! Fatman, looks like what you've done should suffice. has anybody tried the "Disco Gold" Protech? Looks good too.
  13. Any idea where I can find some gold powder paint? Protech has a color called "gold" but it looks more yellow than what I'm looking for. I'm looking for paint like what is pictured. Thanks
  14. Cloudy is a deal breaker. That's kind of the main reason to switch from salt.
  15. Has anyone actually tried the finer bead media? It might be easier con the injector but I suspect it would cloud the bait like salt does.
  16. Thanks. I tried calling them but no answer. I didn't see it on they're site either but I'll try calling them again to see if they have any. I have a feeling a powdered scent could be very effective for our baits.
  17. Are there any companies that sell scented powder? I've been playing around with adding scent to the plastic and adding enough scent to the plastic to be noticeable makes the baits too soft.I also wonder if a powdered scent might be more potent.
  18. Worm oil on the inside of the tube and on the o-ring seems to help a little
  19. I've started to notice some scrating on the plunger. The o-ring still looks good though
  20. http://www.btsmolds.com/craw/702-craw
  21. This one? I was thinking the same thing but I'm somewhat disappointed by the lack of thump. When you swim it there is nearly zero action no matter how hard you rip it or how slow you drag it.
  22. That one has the same claws as the 702 and the 718 I already have. Chigger Craw claws are straight flat but somehow they have really hard thump that can be felt all the way down the rod handle.
  23. Seems everybody and there brother has a 702 craw they're shooting. I have the 718 which has the same action claws as the 702 plus tentacles and a ringed body. I like it a lot and I have caught a tom of fish on it, but the Chigger craw is a great bait as well! It would be nice to have a mold that was similar!
  24. I was rehabbing a house that caught fire. That's were my plastics microwave came from!
