  1. No...I've seen it before which is why I tried it. But these pic posted here are the nicest ones ive ever seen. With as many garage/basement bait makers out there it is so hard to come up with something truly original.
  2. I don't know. I've attempted it myself. Though mine didn't look nearly as nice.
  3. This is an idea I've been kicking around in the back of my head. But...I wouldn't even now where to start. As far as I know nobody sells a liquid plastic that is similar to Strike King's Elaztec? I'd like to try to come with something similar. Any Ideas for making my own plastisol?
  4. He's not the first to do it...I've tried it myself but mine didn't workout as well as those. Those are real beauties. I am part of that Facebook group and I saw those there as well. He auctioned them off and they sold for $18 if I remember correctly. But I don't remember the quantity sold...8-10 sticks maybe?
  5. I just got a chance to check today's mail. I got the replacement mold in today. So I have to say I am very pleased with Do-it's customer service! No complaints from me. This mold is in fact brand new. It is clean, has no, scratches or rub marks. Not I just have to see how it shoots!
  6. Montess...I'm sending it back for both reasons. When you purchase a brand new mold you should receive a brand new mold. They also responded to my emails saying they believed there was a seating issue with that mold based on the pics I sent them. The communication from Do-it was fantastic and their willingness to send me a mold replacement with so few questions asked is how customer service should be handled by all companies. As long as I receive the replacement mold and it is indeed a brand new one. I will have zero complaints.
  7. If this new mold they send me works out I will probably drill and tap it so I can use screws and wing nuts like all my other molds. that way I know I have a good clamp on it. I will try regular C-clamps first though.
  8. I sent Do-it a message yesterday and I got a response from them first thing this morning. I have had an email discussion with them about it and they were always quick to get back to me. I hope I didn't come off as bashing Do-it. I have many of their lead molds but this is my first injection mold from them. They are sending me a new one. I will reserve any judgment on them until I receive the new one. I will also be mailing this one back to them. But so far their customer service has be first rate. I'm certain I will be purchasing more injection molds from the in the future. I am really like the look of their topwater frog mold but that is a different discussion!
  9. I just purchased a new mold from Do-it. It arrived yesterday and I just got a chance to try it out today. Right of the bat when opening the box I wasn't impressed with what I received. The mold looks like someone's old used mold. Not a brand new mold. It has writing on the side in black sharpie, some dark markings on the side, a big gouge in the aluminum on the bottom of one of the side pieces and it looks like someone took a grinding wheel to the injection port and removed a small amount of aluminum from the opening. Now all of this is only cosmetic and should affect the outcome of any baits produced from this mold. But the mold doesn't have any holes for screws, knobs or wing nuts to clamp it closed. Maybe all of Do-it's molds are this way (I don't know since this is my first from them) again... not really a huge issue as I can drill it out and tap it myself. The real issue comes to shooting the bait. Since there aren't any screw/clamp holes I am just using a set of adjustable clamps to keep the mold closed. This shouldn't be a problem they hold very tight but possibly not tight enough? My first attempt at shooting the mold I had plastic seeping out of both the top and bottom of the mold which, of course, produces a bait that is worthless or that needs serious trimming at best. I tried shooting again...this time really clamping down hard to keep the mold together and applying slightly less pressure on the injector. This time I had essentially the same result to a lesser extent. so after removing that bait from the mold it went directly into my sprew container and I tried one more time to shoot the bait. This time I applied even less pressure after clamping down on the mold to the point where I was concerned of damaging the clamps. the result was a bait with no flashing but it also didn't completely fill out the entire bait. I guess my question is: Is this the type of quality I should expect from Do-it Molds? Do they just resell returned/used molds? Is it common to receive a mold without screw/clamp holes? and is there anything else I can do to shoot a good bait from this mold? Thanks P.S. I will also be sending this to Do-it.
  10. Your supposed to break it in? I started with mine right out of the box without any lube and it seems to work fine. But I guess I don't have a point of reference to compare to. Maybe I should put some worm oil on the rings to see if it makes a difference. Also mine came from BassTackle with an orange ring on the plunger and a black ring on the nozzle.
  11. Anybody have a recipe for Yamamoto's Champaign? It looks like a transparent pumpkin seed with some flake?
  12. There are some great ideas here!I really like the idea of keeping tiles in the freezer. I have piece of granite counter top left over from a kitchen remodel I just finished that is about 18x24 inches. I think it would be perfect fit freezing and keeping mold cool.
  13. Thank you for the replies! Yes, I most definetly agree... I need more molds...Lots more molds! This is what I ment by icing the mold. I ment to post this already.
  14. Anybody here ever "ice" your molds to make demolding faster? I have only been injecting plastics a short time and most of my molds are just single cavity. This makes filling larger orders very time consuming. I've been trying to think of ways to make my production more efficient. One thing I've cone up with is "icing" the mold. It seems to be working fine do far but I've only shot about 30 baits thus way so far. Another question I have is for the guys heating plastic in the microwave. Is there a good way of keeping the plastic hot longer? It seems I only have time to shoot 3-5 baits before I have to heat the plastic again. I was thinking of trying an electric skillet and heating the plastic in the microwave and then putting the plastic in the glass containers directly on the skillet. Has anyone done this? If so how well does it work? Thanks for all the help guys!
  15. How's the video coming along? Looks like it would be a cool bait to see in action!
  16. How well does this sinking additive work with MF super soft plastic? I think I'm going to order some but if anyone has some personal experience with it that would be great. If it makes super soft even softer and more durable at the same time I think my swimbaits are going to be awesome!
  17. Try basstackle. You can get a gallon of regular MF for $49 and if you order enough colorant to get over $75 shipping is free
  18. I saw that...excellent deal! The only problem is I bought three on Saturday before the sale.
  19. I have a problem with one of my molds. The flat eye Arky mold seems to have a hole in the head when I twist off the sprew. It will do this about 75% of the time. It doesn't seem to matter if the mold is cool or hot. I have adjusted the temps on my Lee 10 pound bottom pour pot. It doesn't seem to matter if I pour from the spout or if I pour from a ladel. My lead is pretty soft and very close to pure from what I can tell. I'm not sure what else to try to fix this issue.

  21. How often do you need to mix the plastic? I have been doing small batches (1 cup at a time) of one color then mixing up another color a half or an hour later. Can I just shake up the jug at the beginning or should a shake it up every time I pour out some more fresh plastic? I have been using MF Regular BTW.
