  1. Poured some craws today too! A few more of the sticks I got some flashing on these. Pressing down too hard on the injector I guess? I really like the color of these. A couple are deformed from removing them too soon from the mold http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p240/yakfish/Mobile Uploads/2014-06/IMG_20140628_133800960_zpsp6aewidp.jpg
  2. Good stuff. Thanks for your input. I'm only mixing 1 cup of plastic at this point and right now I'm reheating 3-5 times before its gone
  3. So is the purpose of heat stabilizer more to preserve the integrity of the color? I thought It kept the plastic from burning or overcooking.
  4. I shot my first injection molded plastic tonight! It was a good experience and I am happy with how the baits turned out. I used Kosher salt in the plastic and you can really see it in the baits. I want to try a finer salt in the next batch I do tomorrow. I do have a question though. How many time can I safely reheat the plastic without using a heat stabilizer? I reheated 3 times tonight.. one time between each pour. I stil have a little left over from what I started out with so it will be heated again as well. is it OK to add tonights plastic with new plastic tomorrow? Should I cook the new plastic first then ad the old plastic as I reheat? Thanks
  5. Just for senko style baits to make them sink
  6. So I could just go to the grocery store and use the salt they sell there? It doest have to be anything specially formulated for soft plastic baits?
  7. What type of salt do you guys use?

    Looking for a few molds

I'm looking for a few BT Ringed Swim Bait molds. Specifically 631, 639,643
  9. I'm looking for a company that sells super soft MF plastic. I have the cash set aside in my paypal account but I was about to place an order at pouryourownworms when I noticed they don't accept paypal. Basstackle does accept paypal but they only have regular plastic. Any help? Thanks
  10. Hopefully its OK to ask this here...I've been looking for places online to search for used molds for injecting soft plastics. Most places I'm finding have very limited ads if any at all. Even the TU classifieds have very few posted for sale. I know I could go to basstackle or other places that are similar and buy the molds new, but I'm cheap! So does anyone here know of anywhere to find a better selection of people selling their used molds? Thanks
  11. They have it! And I'm about to spend way too much money there! They are a bit more expensive than the site I usually buy from but they have a much better selection.
  12. From what I understand these where made by a guy in Texas or maybe Louisiana (Can't remember off the top of my head) Either way...Anybody know where I can find a "yellow" Skirt tab? It doesn't need to have the black flake or any flake at all, I just need it to be yellow or very close to yellow.
  13. Last year I ordered some skirt tabs and one of the colors I received was called chartreuse black flake but it was more yellow than chartreuse. Since it wasn't the color I wanted or ordered it just sat in the bag of tabs and never got used. Since then I have come up with a skirt color I really like that uses that yellow tab. I am now nearly out of them and would like to find some more of them. I placed an order with the same company last week and used the same color code in the order and the color I received was actually chartreuse this time and not yellow (of course!) Anyway... here is a pic of the color. The yellow one is what I'm looking for but chartreuse is what I received. The yellow is the color on the left.
  14. Sounds like a great smallie bait for the river I fish. Let's see some pics!
  15. I have a Do-it Wacky head mold and an Arky Weedless jig mold that accepts Trokar hooks. I don't have much use for either of these. They are barely used and in perfect condition. I'd like to sell or better yet trade them for soft plastics supplies. I need plastic, colorant, molds etc... I'll be going through some of my other molds as well to see if there are others I am willing to part with. Here are the links to the molds I have: Wacky Head Jig - WCK-5-AWG http://do-itmolds.com/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=1_8_2077 Weedless Arky Style Jig Flipping Hook - ARK-3-ATK http://do-itmolds.com/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=1_8_34
  16. I have been making spinner baits and bass jigs for quite I while and I am wanting to dive into making soft plastics now. I have made some Plaster of Paris molds and hand poured a little but I really want to get into injecting. I need everything from plastic to colorant to molds etc.... As you all already know starting up is rather expensive. Would anybody here be interested in trading some spinnerbaits or bass jigs for some soft plastic supplies? I'm pretty sure my wife wouldn't like me spending the cash to start this up right now! A few of the molds I would like to start out with: Bass Tackle 713 Craw Bass Tackle 643 Ring Swim Bait Bass tackle 631 Ring Swim Bait Bass tackle 639 Ring Swim Bait If interested please send me a PM or Email joelhains@yahoo.com Thanks
  17. I would like to make some OSU spinnerbaits or jigs. I haven't found any "scaret and grey" Skirt material. Any Ideas where I can find silicone skirt tabs in these colors?
  18. Ok, now I am going to feel stupid...What are "drop outs"? Release agent for the mold?
  19. I hold the mold about 1/4-1/2 inch away from the spout. I'll try a ladle next time to see how that works.
  20. I have an Arky Flat eye jig mold. For the most part the jigs pour nice and look complete until I remove the sprew. Underneath there is a cavity that didn't get filled almost every time. I am pouring soft lead that has been cleaned twice and fluxed. I'm not sure what I can do differently to get a complete pour. I can get these holes to fill in if I do multiple coats of powder paint but I am wasting paint this way plus it is also more time consuming to try and get these holes filled that should be there in the first place. Here are several pics showing the pour process and the result. Any thoughts? Thanks
  21. Thanks Cadman, Nice write up! I'm going to have to try that! I like the trailer hanger idea too Mark
  22. Why not try contacting the manufacturer and see if it would be covered under warranty?
  23. Can someone please post a pic of a wire wrapped skirt? I'd like to see how it looks finished.
  24. I posted 3 days ago that I placed an order from spinnerbaitkirts.com for a some skirt tabs. I have to say he was fast with the shipping and the skirt tabs look like the same ones I have been purchasing from barlows. Very happy with the product and the shipping time was reasonable.
