Nice painjob! How'd you do it?
  2. That could work. I'll look into it. Then if I do that, I could use a metal topwater lip!
  3. I as making a crankbait when I had a realization that my lure looked more like a frog than a fish. However, I have already cut my bill slot and is at a shallow angle. Is there anything I can do to use this slot for a bill that can make a wake? I've seen wooden mouse lure that have leather bills.
  4. I use mostly hand tools to shape and form lure bodies. Right now I have several knives, rasps, a coping saw and some other small saws. What other tools do you guys use?
  5. Diemai, that's ingenius! A popper that also doubles as a diver! I'll have to give that a try!
  6. I was fishing with some young kids the other day and the bite was nonexistent, so I threw some bread out to get some bluegills to come out and I had an idea. Small bluegill and other baitfish were grabbing a piece of bread at the surface, then swimming back down to eat it. My idea would be to create a shallow crankbait that floated with its bill facing up, and the tail facing down so it would create a splash then swim down, to emulate this action. Do you think it's possible?
  7. Thanks guys! I don't have access to a good printer so I'll probably go to Office Max every once in a while.
  8. What are all the alternatives to painting lure bodies? I've done foiling before but I want to try some more techniques. Thanks

    Wacky Worms

I did just hang the worm on the zip ties. I used a hook with a barb, eliminating the danger of the worm sliding off.

    Wacky Worms

So I did use zip ties and they did work well. I would suggest making a loose loop on the worm, slipping on the hook, then tightening the zip tie up.

    Wacky Worms

I'm also going to try very small zip ties this weekend. I'll let update yall on how it works out.

    Wacky Worms

Does anyone have an alternative they have come up with? I don't have time to order one and if there's a cheap alternative, then it forgoes the need to buy another tool.

    Wacky Worms

Gon2long, are there specific orings for these worms, I've seen some and a tool to install them but I don't want to spend money on something that is unnecessary.

    Wacky Worms

Forgive for such an amateur question but I have never rigged a worm 'wacky' and fished it. I understand HOW to rig it but I am assuming that fishing it is similar to jigging? With short, soft, upward jerks of the rod? Thank you.
  15. Yeah I'm only going to be there for Friday through Monday. So I could bait it Friday night and continually throughout the weekend. Thanks!
  16. Hey y'all, I'm going to be fishing a lake stocked with channel and largemouths. What is a relatively easy chum for channel cats? Thanks.
  17. Thanks for the graphic! Okay I've been using cedar and fir type of wood and screw-eyes, so I assume I am okay. Thanks y'all!
  18. okay. is the slot then filled in? How would you do this with a crankbait?
  19. I have been looking at several handmade lures and several Rapala minnow lures. The lineties and hook attachments LOOK to be made of wire. How is this done? What is the technique called?
  20. Thanks man. I'll need it this year lol
  21. I haven't tested it yet. School started this week and that certainly has limited my availability to fish. I also am not sure how it will swim and pop since the placement of the screw eye is kind of off center, but cut me some slack! I'm only 15. I'll post a picture of the lure later and inform you how it swims.
  22. What I ended up doing was putting a leader on it, with a swivel, so as to keep retying to a minimum, because it sure was a pain getting the line through that eye.
  23. Yep! That was my issue! I'll take your word and anchor the screw where you said! Thanks.
  24. I have made a popper and I am having an issue with placing the line tie eye. I made the mouth just a little bit too deep for the line tie so would on the top of the lure or below the mouth? Thanks ~Ben
