  1. I was in a mood to do something a little different so....here it is. I know this is not very practical or realistic looking, in fact it is kind of wild looking but I like to mix it up once in a while. This was something I did for the fun of it. My wife called this group of baits ( I made 3 of them ) my Fast and Furious Lures. Let me know what you think.
  2. Hey thanks Griffond. Any help is good help. That pic shows a good starting point for me to use as far as where to have the line tie wire come up thru the lip. I have been drawing out pics of the lips with the wire close to the body of the bait and down to about the middle of the lip itself. From this pic you just posted, I have found my starting point. Thanks, Jay
  3. Ok, I see what you mean now. That is another option that I have not thought of. Right now I am working on some wire thru the lip lures. The picture you just posted gives me a good idea for some of my Bass baits that I have already made and don't use that much. You know, the ones that end up in the "spare" tackle box marked "these would be great if I could get them to swim like I want them to!" HAHA! Thank you for the idea and the picture. That is going to be a winter workbench project for sure! Thanks again, Jay
  4. WOW!!! You guys are great. I wish I found this site years ago. I hope that maybe I can help some of you guys with something in the future. I will be checking out Dieter's youtube page tonight. I would do in right now but I have one of those pesky job things I have to go to. Haha! Thanks again guys! Jay
  5. Hey Dieter, I just got a chance to look at the photos you uploaded. That is just what I needed. Those pictures are worth a thousand words. More important, they are going to save me a thousand hours at the work bench. ( More time for fishing )Thank you to all who replied to my post. It is greatly appreciated! Jay
  6. Thank you for all the help guys. Griffond, Your picture was very clear and Diemai, I like those Banana lures! I am going to give it a try and I will let everyone know how they come out. I need to make a correction. I do use lexan for the lips not plexi glass. I even went and double checked the piece I have been using. And whew, it was lexan not plexi glass. Thank you again everyone. Jay
  7. Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone can give me some ideas. I make my own wooden baits and cut the dive lips out of plexi glass. I see some people doing this with the line tie going thru the lip and into the body. I have been trying to figure out how to do it this way instead of having to use screw eyes in the nose of the bait. I see that lure parts online sells the lips with a line tie already in them, but I would rather make them on my own. I guess its a lure builder pride thing. Haha! Does any one have any suggestions for me? Thanks Jay
  8. Hello everyone, I am trying to upload my profile photo and I am not having much luck. I guess I need to shrink my image to only 50kb and I can't figure out how to do it. I have a mac and a Toshiba computer and can't get it smaller than 147kb. Does any body have any suggestions?
  9. Thank you. It is an easy lure to make. The sides have holographic foil on them, then the black is just a couple of stencils that I cut from drawing paper. There are lots of how to videos on you tube that you can watch and learn from. This lure is one that I just sold on ebay and is on it way to Germany.
  10. I like making these. I know they don't look natural, but they reflect a lot of light and I enjoy making them. Tell me what you think.
  11. To date, this is the biggest bait I have made yet. It is made from clear cedar and has holographic foil on the sides. It weighs 8 oz. and is 12" long.
  12. This is a lure I made for Captain Bryant of Sanibel Custom Charters in Florida. We went on one of his charters and had a great time. I made it to match his logo on his website.
  13. The tape is air condition duct work tape. You can get it an any supply house that sells heating and cooling parts. I just press it onto a piece of wire mesh to get the scale effect. Its very easy to do and very easy to work with.
  14. Great! Thanks for the info. I will check out that brand as well.
  15. Thanks. I would be happy to share this. This is a very easy pattern to make. It is spandex. I cut it to size, my wife sews it together like a sock so it stretches slightly over the bait. I put on 2 coats of epoxy add plastic filler where needed on the belly, sand it, add one more coat of epoxy then do the airbrushing. I get the spandex from The Spandex House in NYC. This pattern is on there website under hologram. it is called little mermaid. I hope this helps.
  16. WILD!! Looks like your you--tube Nemo bait. Really cool!!
  17. This is one of my 6" baits with the holographic foil sides.
  18. Thank you for the info guys. I am going to keep searching and trying paints until I find the brand or brands that I like best. Smith Wildlife brand is one that I haven't heard of before so I am looking there first. Thank you again guys. Jay
  19. Hello everyone. I was wondering if anybody has used the Life Tone line of airbrush paints? I see that they sell it in lacquer and hydro mist. So far I have used Createx, Wicked and Com-art. I like Com-art the best so far but now I have found these Life Tone paints. I just wanted to get some feedback from someone that has used them before I spend the $54.00 for the fish sampler kit. Thanks, Jay
