  2. Good advice. I'm gonna try that next. Thanks Mark.
  3. Also as you can see in the pics, it seems to be off gassing around the eyes
  4. Hi there folks. Having some issues with my Alumifoam cranks and hope someone can help. This is my process: pour Alumifoam in a 2 part mold. After it dries, there's a mushroom of excess foam where my pour holes were. I sand those down flush and fill in the "scar" with wood putty. Sand that, prime, paint, and do 3 coats of etex on a drying wheel. What happens next is what I believe is off-gasing. My paint bubbles under the etex and then cracks or splits(see pics). I just did a batch and sealed the foam with spar urethane like my cedar lures. Haven't painted or applied etex yet. Any help or suggestions?

  7. When you use thicker diameter wire for Muskie lures, you might wanna use heavier nails. They won't pull or bend as easy when you shape that thick wire in your jig.
  8. I've tried GST for a few months now and my baits still have a bad chemical smell to them. Stinks the whole box up. It annoyed me so bad that I went back over all my baits with D2T. Anyone else getting that?

  10. Guys I tried the Gst on three sets of baits now and just can't deal with the smell. I apply using a respirator, but the baits themselves retain that funky smell. Even baits I coated this summer still have a slight funk. Maybe I'm just applying it wrong. I think I'm going back to etex.
  11. Sorry, the photo really doesn't do it justice.
  12. This is my Hard Buzz Clear Fire hybrid. This bait sinks or buzzes the surface depending on where their biting in the water column. You can hit several levels of depth with the same cast. Lots of flash above and below. Molded thru wire and 4 dips of GST concrete sealer.

Beautiful job. Is that a stencil or by hand?
  14. I use the Glitter acrylic paints from Michael's. About $1.99 each color for the best they sell. The brush on formula is nice and dries somewhat clear with a heat set. It does goop up if you don't spread evenly or use a good brush. I usually do 2 subtle coats. I've sprinkled micro glitter and strips on wet paint and had some success depending on what look you're going for. The brush on is much more subtle if you wanna just add a hint of flake. Hologram and confetti are good colors covering a wide spectrum.

    Never even considered that! Thanks!
  16. I have made a few of those and have had some success for Largemouth on blue and Baby bass color. I have noticed that putting beads between the nose and blade have helped with rotation. The blade seems to turn better if it is about a full length from the nose. I've also done a few thru wire models with better blade success. Properly keel weighted, IMO it's a great idea and lure.
  17. Another couple buzz hybrids. These are clear resin with Mylar gift basket film providing a crazy flash throughout. The clear resin is heavy, so they're sinkers.

It was fun testing these. I made a batch of about 25 different colors/sizes. The front buzz prop lures are floaters. The rear prop lures sink and have a lot of flash. I changed the hook hang to the body because hanging it in the rear seemed interfere with the prop. All are keel weighted, so I don't get any spin. Thank you for the compliments.
