  1. Ok I'm going to try posting a pic of the jig I made to get the correct angle of the slot while keeping it square also. I can't take credit for the jig I found it on YouTube but I'll share
  2. Yeap I do have creative attributes I'm sure I can figure out a jig, I was hoping someone here has run across what I'm trying to do. Every one here is very helpful an I'm sure when I figure this out I will every know. Thank for the input oh an the ADVICE.
  3. Not sure about cutting the slot before turning since I want to cut the bottom flat tryin to figure out exactly where I'd come up with a square bottom. Maybe a miter box would work with a groove to hold the rounded top so I could cut groove square like Mark suggested
  4. I'm making a 6 in bait that is round at first then I'm cutting the bottom of the lure flat. I've left the ends on from the lathe to use the fence to square the cut. The bait is tapered from the nose to the tail. I'm wanting a 38degree cut for the lip, my problem is with the taper of the bait I can't get a nice square cut even using the table square adjusting it to the taper of the lure. Any suggestions on a easier way to figure this out.
  5. I have a passche vl, I've been putting into a tub of water an clean the bowl with a artist brush seems to work great found a tutorial here love this site
  6. Well I messed with the reducing I ended up just pouring paint in the ab cup then a few drops of water then stirred it and practice spraying. I only do one paint at a time.
  7. So I have been working on this thinking process I have it very close to the milk condensing, maybe even a little to thin. When I spray it seems too thin do I need to spray several light coats or thicken it I'm using opaque base coat
  8. Thanks Seeking I like the idea of the riffler I see them on line in sets do they come in different courses or are they mainly line for a finish look. I have never seen them before beside like a healers file
  9. Thought I'd add something new always to me. I've read some post about sanding on power Sanders for shaping and the dust from doing this. The last blanks that I cut out I put them in a vice and just use a rasp to shape them, after I get close to what I want the I hand sand starting 60 grit. Just thought I'd add what I find easier. This is a great forum'
  10. Finally got the airbrush out its been almost 3 yrs lol. I took 4 baits out trolling they ran great. Curious on how you guys put your hook hangers in do you epoxy them In? I used screw eyes, I'm thinking I might make my own out of wire twisted I'm sure they will need explained in this pvc board.
  11. My first attempt with pvc I really like how easily it is to work with. I'm really close to begin painting my question is do you guys prime the baits. Thanks for all this great info on here.
  12. Thanks Matt I see where I can pick it up at hobby lobby up this way, I like the Devon2 and yes it needs to be rotated also it just gotten harder to find up here I have found it at he grainger
  13. Matt I'm thinking the #2 hooks will be about right also I checked out the amazing clear cast do you know if it is as hard as Devon2. Is it applied the the same an do you need to rotate it or just hang it.
  14. I haven't taken any. Pics yet I have formed the body from pvc board an added weight waiting on the correct hook size. I'm thinking a #2 would be about right. Using the pvc I can see if the way they swim is what I'm looking for before painting.
  15. I'm in the process of making baits simular to the 00 AC shiner. I'm using pvc for the body does anyone know. The size of the hooks I'm thinking are number 2. They are dipped in liquids plastic has anyone ever dried the plastic dip for coating
