I would love to hear everyones story! Do you have an actual lure business where you make all, or part of your income from lures? Do you just do it as a hobby only? Did it start as a hobby and grow into a business? How many lures to you make in a year? etc. Nobody seems to talk about these things.....com'on guys.....let's have the down and dirty!

I just bought this same exact deal off of Amazon about 2 weeks ago for $99 with free shipping. I have used 2 of the airbrushes and like them just fine. I am sure the day will come that I realize how much better a more expensive air brush would be, but for now..........ignorance is bliss! lol http://www.amazon.com/Master-Airbrush-Multi-purpose-Professional-Airbrushing/dp/B006FQCBZK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1383212564&sr=8-1&keywords=3+AIRBRUSH+SYSTEM

Mac, I can put about 24 on mine easily, but then I make smaller lures than some. Here is a pic of what I built....

Hi all, I was watching youtube videos of lure making. On several of them, I saw a rotisserie in use to rotate the lure so clear coat doesn't run. I checked fleabay and found a rotisserie motor for 4 bucks and a couple of dollars shipping. I rigged up a rotisserie that I can clamp my back eye hook onto. I want to tell you what.......No matter how long you have been making lures, if you clear coat them, you need to get a rotisserie. It makes it almost look like you know what you are doing with finishes. Wow, what a difference. The finish goes on thick, thick, thick and levels out to a mirror finish! Is everybody using them already?

I am new here as well. Well, I was a month ago anyway. Just as you have said, I noticed the same thing right away. And, as Cougarftd said above, you never have to worry you will be treated as stupid for asking a question, and you will get the answere you need. Welcome Tallbald, and thanks guys in the forum for being helpful! Tim -
Woods I Can Access To Make Lures, But Not Sure What To Choose
HickoryHollow replied to Tallbald's topic in Hard Baits
Don, Here is Ohio we have about the same lumber available. I have been using nothing but poplar to make my hand carved lures. I love working with poplar. It is soft to work, but dense enough to hold screw eyes well when epoxied into the wood. It finishes nice and smooth with sanding too. Hard to beat in my book. Tim P.S. Keep that Bradford pear for carving wooden spoons! :-) -

I would shoot it with rattle can primer (white) then go with any paint you like.... -

That's about $1500.00 to $4000 if you have the box too! :-)

Mark, I just checked the link you sent. So....if I understand, it stays liquid as long as it isn't put under the light? Wow, you are right, I'm digging the idea!

I have been using a fiberglass resin for my clear coat. It is awesome stuff and cures in about 20 minutes or so. It is USC fiberglass resin. I mix it in small batches and do about 6 lures at a time, brushing it on. I happen to have a pic in my phone that might help. Just to the right of the lure, you can see the can and lable. I hope it is ok to put a pic here for this purpose.... Any thoughts, degatives, comments? Tim

I just placed my second order with lurepartsonline. At the end of the order I asked her about the discount. She wasn't aware of it and asked if I had a code. I told her about this discussion and she put me on hold and must have checked with somebody. When she came back, she graciously granted the 10% discount and explained it was a one time thing for new forum members. Tim

Now, that's not a bad idea! Especially if I can pull a bass or two while they are watching!
