  1. Yep their stuff is great & I think the best there is & i've used several different companys glitters & colorants both & it just suits me a whole lot better all the way around. I do however use some red craft glitter from walmart in some white lures like flukes to get a light pink tint to them & it works great.
  2. Good deal. It's hard to match some colors sometimes without adding a drop of this or a drop of that colorant. If you do happen to use the Lureworks violet 193 don't go into shock like i did when you demold & your baits are a nice deep red. lol It's the nature of the beast like McLuvin said & it will cure up a nice purple when fully cured. A little pthalo blue in it & you can match zooms junebug to a tee so i'd say you could match the other brands junebug pretty easy with it too.
  3. I have one of his molds with the same type injection port & i shoot it with my 5/8" injector. .I just stick it over the hole & inject it slowly with no problem whatsoever.
  4. Baitjunkys is top notch in my opinion.
  5. basstackle has an excellent baby brush hog mold. I really like mine. Getting ready to order the 6” version for a buddy.
  6. My favorite use to be the 3 “ natural pro blue. Smallmouth would absolutely destroy them.
  7. I will have to say baits aren’t nearly as dull as the essential molds though I guess because the molds aren’t as pourous. I’m happy with them for sure.
  8. I have 3 trailer molds & have never had to coat them with anything whatsoever. May be that they aren’t as detailed as some lures are I don’t know. I guess if a person was worried about the baits being shiny he could, but I have never had a problem with mine & they are easily removed too. Mine came from bugmolds.net
  9. Mike, to start with i just bought junebug, green pumpkin sp 156 & various other colors from ispikeit.com already made & added the amount of drops it took to how ever many ounces of plastic i was heating to suit me for my version of colors i like. After that i ordered white, bllack, yellow , orange etc along with watermelon & a couiple different blues etc & experimented making small batches of what i thought certain colors may have in them & finally figured how to mix a bunch of different recipies by doing just this. Now although out of practice this winter thanks to working so much i can figure most common recipies that i will use out pretty quick. You can spend a lot of time doing just this, but nailing a hard color to figure out is huge part of the fun. There is also the soft plastic recipie book in the stickys section at the top that has some great recipies that you can easily make. Don't let it drive you crazy & enjoy it & you'll have it nailed pretty quickly.
  10. Lureworks junebug 125 is what i like & it lasts good too because it's pretty strong.
  11. Joel, great video. I hand dip tubes myself & i also inject my angling ai mold in the color i want the tails to be & then hand dip them again in what ever color i want the body to be. I too am a tube finatic. lol
  12. Does your mold have thumb screw knobs or are you having to clamp it ? The reason i ask is i have one mold that i have to use slide bar clamps on all for corners or it will flash simply becuause it isn't tight enough.
  13. I have buddys that pitch in on plastic & molds & actually help make theirs because they enjoy doing it too & so it doesn't cost me so much. One buddy is in to lead so we just swap things when we need them & that works good too. I give a lot of stuff to the kids too. I could sell all the baits i wanted as i've had 4 pretty big tackle shops try to get me to put them in their stores & numerous individuals try to buy 300 to 500 baits at a time, but when you start being obligated it turns an enjoyable hobby into a job that ends up not being enjoyable anymore. Been there done that in other hobbys. If a person was retired & not able to fish it might be alright, but i have a job thats usually 60 hours a week & thats way more obligation then i want nowadays. lol Now i've ordered things to get into rod building & have several buddys wanting me to build them some rods too. Its never ending .lol
  14. I keep a gallon of worm oil on hand for this & packaging of baits too.I also keep a seperate bottle with a yorker style cap with worm oil from the gallon jug that i use just for oiling the injector because there will be small peices of plastic & flake come out sometimes after oiling. When my injector starts to tighten up i pop the end off & pour some down it with the piston pulled down about an inch & pull plunger all the way to where it would be when full of plastic & then reinstall end & squirt it back into the bottle. Works great.
  15. Joel, as long as it works it’s good. A mans got to do what he’s got to do that’s affordable to enjoy his hobby
  16. I have the 4 incher from basstackle & really like it. I also have a 6" hand pour brush hog mold i could possibly be persuaded to part ways with. lol
  17. How about some pics of this? At that speed i could stand to have one for my own use too.
  18. I've tried a couple others to see how they compared & in my opinion nothing else is remotely close. Lurework period for me.
  19. Strike king & many others have also had the mistake pattern paint job on different crankbaits over the years & smallmouth like it.
  20. I pour in my pole style garage all the time. I made a work bench 8' long & have my microwave, colorant, salt etc on it. I have my molds (over 20) in a cheap Lowes chest type tool box with pliers, parts for making a rigs & other miscellanious items in other drawers under the bench. I also have my left over sprue in coffee & creamer cans that have the colors written in permanent marker under the bench & have plenty of room. I have nails with very small heads nailed into the posts & purling boards & hang all of my plastics on them sticking the still connected sprue on them so they'll hang straight & have no problems whatsoever doing it the way i do. When i cut tube tails i just sit my press on the workbench & have at it. I've done 20 gallon of plastic in the last year & it has worked great for me. One thing i'm thinking i'm going to do is if i can find some used counter top that someone has torn out & use it to make another bench completely down another wall so i can also possibly get into rod building too. Very little room is needed for this hobby, but a man can always use more too. lol As far as a learning curve you'll get it down pretty quickly & don't hesitate to ask for help as there are some great folks here that know their stuff & will walk you through anything that comes up. Welcome aboard.
  21. It’s the block, but. I made it heavy duty. Drilled into side of cutter block &. attached to shaft with set screws. Works. good. Theirs is high & flimsy in my book. That’s the reason I modeled mine after theirs, but a way more beefed up version. I’ve cut a bunch on it & replaced the blades once.
  22. Joel heres mine made ftom scrap.
