  1. Anyone have this mold? Curt convinced me & i ordered it. lol He says it has about the same action as a regular tube & i figured if a super hog worked this should too. I noticed that if i wanted to downsize it i could trim a little off of either or both endsas well. If anyone has it lets hear about it. Thanks
  2. I used 2 of the 2.5 gallon boxes of it & i really liked it myself.
  3. Couldn't agree more. Good people willing to go the extra mike to help & great products as we'll.
  4. Thanks Archery1 & Leonard. That 's what I wanted to here.
  5. Thanks guys. I will use the large salt in the bag & will try the straight medium plastic since we use them in either open water or pitching to cover around here. Never knew of anyone dragging them around here. Thanks
  6. Dave thanks. Guess I'll wait to see how durable the ones I dipped cure. I appreciate the help.
  7. So regular old medium plastic is all that's needed to make good soft, but dirable tubes?
  8. Don't know about the holy grail, but it is more transoarent when ready to inject & I have to use more colorant & this is with the exact same amount of drops colorant. The spikeit when ready to inject is not as clear as the baitjunkys.
  9. I figured it out. Itvwas the violet 193. With just one drop it would get a very deep red tint. I left it out & it done fine multiple times. Put one drop of it back in & the red tint returned. Thanks guys
  10. Yep Keinsrd thinks that's ghe case. I have a digital thermometer & it only got to 322, but also noticed mold may be getting to hot as a little over pour on the sprue looked perfect, but when taken out of the mold the actual lure had the reddish tint. Thanks guys.
  11. Ron, no on the nuts & bolts. I do shake it very thourougy though & am adding colorant before heating. I even melted down some leftover sprue I had made awhile back from spike it that I tore into small pieces & it turned out great. I know this plastic gets way thicker than the spike it did in the same amount of time & I have to heat it longer for it to thin enough to use. Not knocking it in any way. I just can't figure out how to handle it any other way. Doing green pumpkin the color stays great by the way & it has set longer than any of the other colors. Just don't understand what causes the difference myself from one brand to the other.
  12. Dave, I got it a little better , but I have to add color & glitter before heating or by ghe time it goes from thin to thick to then again it's to late. I'm only hearing 6 ounces in a 1 ounce cup for just over 2 minutes. Funny thing is that junebug does it, but green pumpkin is fine. Why & what makes the difference? Thanks
  13. Mark, I went from spikeit to baitjunkys this time.
  14. Using 15 drops junebug 125, 3 drops violet 193 & 3 drops black 103 from spikeit for junebug. By the time plastic goes from thin to thick to thin again it gets a red tint. Why because the other brand plastic I used before didn't? I' trying to get the exact colors as I was making for several buddy's & the only thing that has changed us the brand of plastic. Both are medium as we'll. any suggestions? Thanks
  15. Is it because of different additives that different brands of plastisol would take more colorant to get the same exact colors in another brand. Using identical recipies the new brand is way more transparent than the spikeit I was using. The new brand is way more clearer if heating without colorant added. I did a test to see. Lol I am using spike it colorant if that makes a difference when switching from their brand to another brand. Thanks
  16. Yes they do. I have two of the 4" shz molds with a single top port & have never had a single problem with them & i use them every time i pour. Actually the plastic draws way less in these molds as well than the other brand of mold i have.
  17. smallmouthaholic thanks. Believe me if i deal on anything it's cash on the barrel head & i'm not going to fool with it anyway. I already have a 10 hours a day & usually 50 to 60 hours a week. I am also not about to turn a hobby that i'm really enjoying right now into a job, Don't mind taking care of my buddys, but that's the extent of it for now .Might be something to do several years down the road after retiring, but absolutley not interested in doing it full time just yet. lol
  18. 1 smallmouth & 4 largemouth for 13.44 pounds. All on stuff i made myself. Second through fourth all had a little over 9 pounds. Also have a guy at a local tackle shop wanting to buy a bunch of my baits to put in his store.Pretty good night if i do say so myself. lol
  19. Skimpy, yes it is. This style bait has put a lot of fish in the boat & dollars in folks pocket around hete.
  20. The bait is the dels 4" shz. After it cured longer it has appeared to help some. Thanks guys
  21. He's thinking nobody else has it. Evidently it's working. He sent me a pic of a 7 pounder even largemouth last night. Lol
  22. I use hexagon cut from spike it & i like it. Sometimes i buy the cheap small glitter ( especially gold) at walmart & add it last & microwave for an additional 10 seconds, stir & inject. They say not to microwave, but added last it hasn't been any problem whatsoever for me. It gives a really nice, but different almost sand coated look when added with the .035 hex cut glitter. I have a buddy that has about worn me out making baits like this for him. lol
  23. Yep supposed to take -50. I think I'll be alright. I have 5 gallon coming form Leonard now.
  24. Believe me I'm already looking at more molds, butvitvwill be a while before I order more. Kind of got to heal from the sticker shock so to speak. Lol
