  1. You can make them or buy them the easy way is a 5/8 copper plumbing coupling for 1/2 inch plumbing pipe which is 5/8 outside diameter a small piece of pipe and a coupling is all a small single cavity needs . You can make longer if needed I’ll post a picture soon as I can
  2. Leonard at baitjunkys does lead mold last time I looked
  3. I’ve got the clone 3,8 fat swing impact from the Ukraine baitmold company and let me tell you....... 1- takes forever to get 6 weeks from date of order 2 had a hard time getting an email respone althought some of that might have been me 3 quality wise on par with with do it or basstackle shoots good 99.5%of the time when it doesn’t it’s because I’ve got air in the injector And please don’t bash me because I looked elsewhere for molds I just think that it’s a poor man that only knows one way. would I buy from him again ? Yep! it was the single cavity aluminium mold that I bought
  4. I know others here have been doing this longer than me but I’ve been at this for almost 6 years now and still love the hobby. The only down side is fewer trips to bass pro. You will find out over time you will fish your baits more . With one exceptions I haven’t fish a “ commercial bait” in well over 5 years. It’s pretty cool to be able to say that . :-)
  5. Welcome! The only thing I can say is keep good notes and bring lots of money. You can have every mold or color out there and it’s still not enough. It is fun and addictive. I have a 2 quart a day habit. :-) have fun
  6. +1 that’s what I use to clean my airbrush works like a champ
  7. Lure works sb coat ive used it on hollow swimbaits works like a champ and sticks made by spike it
  8. +1 and some molds are just a pia . I have an old bears single shooter I use just for this and I don't do lams with blasting media. I don't want to mess it up.
  9. Oh I forgot to add I use baitjunkys soft and some times I double the softner
  10. I inject so I really can't answer that one however it doesn't settle out in mine. I shoot my mold at about 315-325 depending . The yami knock off I shoot around 315 with no denting of settling issues . The 4 inch bass tackle I have I can shoot at 325-335 with no issues . youll have to experiment to find your sweet spot. I would think as cool as you can get away with and still have a good bait
  11. I've had good success with straight salt too but the glass make them a little stronger
  12. Yes . It scores the walls of my injector but it's a throw away injector anyway so no biggie to me.
  13. Yes add softener I would start at a tablespoon per 4 oz . I use salt and get a pretty good shimmy on a wacky rig 4 oz soft plastic heaping tablespoon of salt tablespoon of glass beads tablespoon of bj softner I get a really soft bait that has a really good shimmy. I would put mine up against the real one any day. I actually prefer mine
  14. I have taken a spout for a Colman cooler( bought it separately at dicks sporting goods) and put it in a wide mouth one gallon jug that I had laying around and it works good for me, I would think you could do the same with a bucket. I used no sealant on it. It came with a gasket and it doesn't leak . I can take a pic later. I just take the lid off and loosen up the hard pack on the bottom and put it back in service
  15. I use an instant read digital probe type thermometer . Imho the are more accurate than the infrared type. Bait junkies sells them
  16. mine are made with mnf watermelon . It's the closest I can get to the real thing . My recipe is 4 oz soft plastic 2 tbl of flour salt and somewhere between 40 to 50 drops of colorant . However I have a pint of m n f watermelon drop count might be diff. Add blue flake to taste . Me , I like it really blue so I add a teaspoon or so of small blue flake. FYI it's also the base for yami watermelon seed, watermelon red and watermelon no flake. If you have the original you can hold it up in the light and see the color through the light it you match that with your bait you are making. Assuming all things being equal I.e. Your mold being Identical to the original your bait color will be close when you hold it in your hand. These are my humble opinions and tweeking it is part of the fun ! This is hands down one of my personal favs as far as color goes. But it would be doing you a great injustice if I didn't say that I have mixed that color strong and mixed it week and it still catches fish! Yes adding salt will make the color less transparent. Personally I like both of there colors Tight lines!
  17. I have tried all three and all of them are good
  18. Most but not all people buy it online although you can grind salt to a fine powder . In my humble opinion and my experience is to just buy it from a reputable bait supply source. I know some grind there own ,and i did too when I first started but for me it's just easier to buy it then to do it myself. One less thing to do. As far as salt in baits it's your preference , however in baits like stick worms you need the salt for ballast . I usually start at 2 tablespoons of salt to 4 ozs of plastic and stuff like craws I usually just use a pinch of salt to 4 ozs of plastic but here again it's all in what You prefer
  19. If you start with 1- 4oz injector 1-aluminum mold 1-gallon of plastic 2-small Pyrex cups 3- colors 3-small glitters your looking roughly around 350 dollars ,however as previously posted it can be done much cheaper .but what's the fun in that. Lol . It can be done as cheap or expensive as you want . But it does get expensive in a hurry . I think I have 3-4 thousand in it by the time I account for molds , multiple injectors (single and double) and everything else. Good luck on your new "hobby"
  20. Works good but I get it from somewhere else.
  21. It's Calhoun plastic .
  22. Dido to all the above. Just do say you were told lol
