  1. If that’s the case you need a bigger injector. More capacity. The plug at the end when shooting is pretty normal when using a mic to cook. As said above about using presto pots that’s the only case you don’t get a plug. i do have a few molds I have to use a 9 oz injector To fill the mold . Most of the time a 4 oz normally gets the nod.
  2. Thanks ! I have ordered 5 gallons of individual gallons ranging in hardness. So I guess we will see. Yes I agree MnF is a pretty oil plastic when finished. . What got me to this point is the fact that ordering a gallon of super soft is going to take 5-12 weeks to get ?!? So their website says. I ordered and can wait no biggie. I needed a work around so here we go another hunt for the perfect plastic :-)
  3. I do ALOT of stick baits, bass grubs, trailers, Swimbaits and worms. I have tried dead on and it’s DOA! I have and do use m and f plastic. Expensive ?yes! Good? Yes! In my opinion best stick worm plastic hands down with super soft . Used calhouns when baitjunkys was sellingit. Calhouns makes a great medium plastic. I hobby pour so when I buy plastic I tend to buy 5 gallons at a time and there is no telling how long it will last. Some times a year some times 3. Kind of a good deal bad deal. As brands and labels change so much. I was not impressed with dead on so I’ve ordered 5 gallons of bait plastic super soft, medium and medium hard . Can some one give me some in-site into the equivalence of the brands I mentioned above Thanks!

    Scenting

Old-school eyedropper bottles are the cleanest way I have found to drop scent in a bag without getting it all over the place. My eyedropper bottles came from my vet
  5. Yep! Works good but it’s hell on the injector. If you go that route I would highly recommend only using one injector for it. I have a 4 oz injector from bears is the one I use and it’s scared up pretty good
  6. My personal take on it is easy. I mix my salt with my plastic before I heat. Since doing this 7 years ago no more clumps. I’m sure someone will have a different answer but this works for me if I grind salt. Now I just buy worm salt way easier but I still mix the same way .
  7. Yeah kind of sucks Leonard quit selling plastic. I’ve got about 4 gallons left of dead ons jerkbait formula really just started using the baits I made with it and noticed they rip way easier than the calhouns med plastic I was using before this.
  8. I’ve used mica pearls for soft plastic baits in the paint that spike it sells. It is a plastic paint that is meant for soft plastics you can mix it with their clearcoat and spray it on top of your base and you will get a pearl essence finish without adding any thickness to the Baits. Believe it is called SB coat I’ve had good success with it you can also mix plastisol color it with the clear and create custom colors.I have had great success with that in fact I quit buying the colors premade and just use the clear and make my own colors
  9. Just me but I don’t want water or ice anywhere near my hot liquid plastic . I’m a fumble fingers something will happen. I hang mine up through a Rubbermaid wire shelf I’ve got on the wall. literally hang over 1000 baits.
  10. As soon as I get back in town from work I promise I’ll post up:-)
  11. I would use green pumpkin green with a touch of maroon to brown it up a little and chartreuse on the bottom. M and f colorant is some of what I use and those 3 colors I use a lot of . I make my own version as well and it’s close to that pic.i wouldn’t get to hung up on identical match . Close will get you there.
  12. No unfortunately I don’t. I’m out of town for then next couple of days. I can when I get back.I am a plumber by trade so copper was what I had in work shop and it takes heat no problem.Only one problem is it wastes some plastic I’ll post up when I get back.
  13. I powder coat heads before shooting plastic over them
  14. Turn to jelly?!?!after cooked to 350. Did you mix the container before you took your 8 oz out of it? If you did you may have a bad batch of plastic.
  15. Welcome! Once you get some time under your belt you can open pour half the mold and shoot the other half.
  16. What I’ve done in the past to swirl and multiple molds is to use copper pipe for plumbing 1/2 to be exact . I take multiple molds a couple of tees and 90’s and make a manifold and shoot through that. It gives you a little more room to swirl.
  17. I’ve got some and have used them on swim baits. They hold well when dipped over . Used more realistic ones too. It’s all subjective as to choice. The fish don’t get a good enough look.
  18. The old stand by 702 craw I believe it’s made by BTS. Use to be bass tackle .
  19. Sb clear can be used with plastisol colorant and holds well. I recommend clearing it after all colors go down or dipping in hot plastic.
  20. Yes:-) I brush it on and put on a turner which initially was the reason I went with kbs. One less thing to have to have/make. now that I got off my lazy bones and made one;-) I haven’t look back. I won’t bash Kbs as it’s a good choice. I used it on my restored pickup truck frame and it’s awesome stuff. In my experience the epoxy holds up against hook rash and bass teeth better. One coat of epoxy vs three coats of kbs dipped. Here’s one I made last month and I’ve used it heavily last couple of weeks. Not much if any hook rash. I’m an OCD kind of person I want the finish to be perfect and stay that way as long as it can. Stupid?!? Yes!!! It’s the way I am.
  21. I’m no expert but what I do with the flexcoat epoxy for baits is mix it as directed and then I spread it out on aluminum foil and use my heat Gun and heat the mix up. It’s a 2 fold thing #1 it gets out any trapped air during mixing .#2 heating it up warms it up so it flows better for me. I am like you I make one here and there . Kbs is a solid choice for a top coat but there are drawbacks one of the biggest to me is it’s moisture cured . Where I live humidity is always high(costal Virginia) My first container of kbs turned in nothing flat. Which is the reason why I went with epoxy. In my humble opinion it’s better for people like us who are doing One every now and then.
  22. One of the most important things I learned about color matching is hold the bait in question up in the light and look at the color through it . If you can match that then the color sitting in front of you laying in your hand should be close to spot on.. I know it sounds weird but it works for me.
  23. I use a flat griddle to warm up the block and injecters.
  24. Angling a I has a mold similar to a gyb spider grub . You still have to attach the skirt and grub. I have a few by others but this one is the best I’ve come across.
