  1. Wd 40 silicone spray. No not really greasy. just slick but it gone the next day. My work top is kind of a do all. Paper work, bait making, etc. I have not had any problems with using it.
  2. Coated in silicone spray . When I’m done I spray it down. . Top still looks like hell but it’s due for a replacement . It’s just laminate flooring. I have had no problem with cold shocking Pyrex cups . It’s been down for 5 years . I won’t cry when I get time to replace it.
  3. M and f green pumpkin green and m and f Maroon is how I made mine. 4 oz plastic 2 table spoons of salt 35 drops of greenpmpkin green 1 drop of maroon to brown it up If you use the search feature you’ll find where I posted up another recipe along time ago but the above will get you in the park and you can tweak it to your liking as far as the amber I would assume m and f amber would be a good start seeing it’s where gyb get there colors from. I struggled with that shade of green pumpkin for a long time so much so I have the recipe memorized. Above everything else remember this you only have to be close don’t have to be dead on
  4. If I had to take a guess I would say it’s micro bubbles in the plastisol. If you really don’t wanna spend the money on a degassing. Chamber the best way is to let it sit in the microwave for a couple of minutes after it’s been heated up . You may have to heat it up again. It’s the best way I found to do it.
  5. I am using kbs to clear so I was hoping to use glitter in the createx gloss clear I have then dip. That was the major problem I am having with the airbrush I have.
  6. I have decided to buy a new airbrush as I have found my limits with the cheap one I have. i do a lot of airbrush work on soft plastics . I have for a 3-4 years and my favorite Crankbaits are now no longer made so I have bought 20 in a color that won’t work for me and decided to paint them. What I would like to know is 1-Iwata eclipse is it worth the money? 2- will it shot a clear with .008 glitter in it? Thank you for all the help!

    How long?

I have dipped a couple of baits in kbs diamond clear. My question is how long do they need to cure to rock hard before I can fish them? Thanks for the help. I live in va on the coast so humidity is usually higher than most.
  9. Lol I’ve got 7 grub molds looking for something like it
  10. This is the inherent beauty in making your own you can make them anyway you want. I have learned over the years of tweaking my stick formula that I change my recipe as to time of year . In the summer months I do... 4 oz ss m n f plastic 1 tablespoon of salt 2 tablespoons of glass media 1 tablespoon of softner yes they are one hit wonders. In the cooler months I use the recipe I first posted. Now if I use all glass media is both recipes I don’t add softener at all I don’t need to and it makes for a much more durable bait . I fish a wacky rig ALOT ! Did I say a lot? weighted jig head or hook only. My favorite is a 4 incher. I can tell I have it right when I pull it through the water and you can feel the ends pulsate. It took me 6 years of trial and error to get where I wanted them but I would take the “Pepsi challenge” any day with GYB ! Crap I’m showing my age! Heck I prefer mine and so do most of my fishing buddies. I guess what I’m trying to say is the first one I posted is a good starting point and you can pretty much take it from there only you know exactly what you’re looking for . I will say one last thing don’t get too hung up on trying to make it exactly like Gary Yamamoto’s i’ve had more success with different formulas than with the original . Tight lines!
  11. I use m and f super soft and add more and some times I add more salt.
  12. 4 ounces of soft plastic 2 table spoons of salt 1 tablespoon of softener This is mine others may differ . FYI The search bar at the top will help you find just about anything you could want.:-)
  13. I just wanted to thank everyone for the input! That is the 4 gyb grub I remember! Kudos to A I for making it! I’ll be buying a few more . It’s been a long strange journey since I started making my own baits for personal consumption. This one was the great white whale for me! It was the one of two bait designs I really wanted because it flat out catches fish.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I fish them on an 1/8 slider spider heads with the heavier gauge hook . Deadly for spawn largemouth and all through the summer. I had success on the upper James river for smallies too. Again thank you so much for everybody’s input
  14. Looks great! The dents in sticks are usually from shooting at to high of a temp. It could be other things , but that’s where I would start..
  15. I forgot to mention a hand blender will mix it too but it Adds a lot of air . If I do it that way I have to cook off the bubbles in the microwave . Which can be a PIA in of itself.
  16. I have a couple of lucky craft cranks and one I can no longer find so what I would like to do if it will help hold the paint and prism scales a little longer is dip it in diamond clear. Am I crazy, wasting my time? Any and all insight is welcome ! Thanks!
  17. I use the ultra fine grit. Mark is 100 % correct it will make the color more translucent And it’s hard on the one injector I have but I’ve been using it for 4 1/2 years with glass beads and all I’ve had to do was replace your rings
  18. That looks just about identical to a yama 4 incher. Perfect! Thanks a lot!
  19. I read the description and it said a bait no longer made . I was just wondering what. The pic on the site is ok just. Othing for scale. Schoolmaster can you throw up a pic with a tape measure I would greatly appreciate it.
  20. Glass beads work great. And so does Salt .I use a mixture of the two to get the ballast I’m looking for. I will say this,if you use say soft plastic and add salt or glass beads. If you add softner to it . You will use a different amount of it depending on the ballast used . From my own experience I have found I can use less with the beads than I can with salt. From a use standpoint the beads will produce a far more durable bait than the salted one . Many folks here will agree with that.
  21. You really need a thermometer as posted above . Different brands have different viscosity’s When heated . Even different between med and soft in the same brand. Best practice as stated above is to heat stir heat stir with a thermometer till you hit 350. It doesn’t take much past that for any brand to start scorching . We have all been the and have the shirt to prove it . Just comes with the learning curve.
  22. I was curious those who have the mold or are in the know what grub is this supposed to be like? Thanks
  23. Grind it. It will suspend better in the plastic.
