3/4 oz and 7 cm long
  2. I think it's a great idea. Start a new post & name it. I guess we'll see where it goes.

    Pvc suspender

    5th Lure finished. Pvc,twisted stainless & Jan's lip.Suspending to a very slow sinker. Createx & epoxy.Enjoy the whole process.
  4. Thanks Ben, The only other thing I did different with these baits is I was trying to put a coat on before painting. I was thinking it would give a nice surface and lock in my lip & twisted wire in better after 5 minute epoxing them. Maybe I handled the baits with some oily hands by mistake. It's been awhile since I made one. Hopefully I can sand it out. Thanks
  5. I've used Etex for a bit now and everything has turned out nice. I'm starting to experiment with different Pvc bodies and I'm having issues with it pooling up in spots and running from even some rounded edges. Temp is right, mixtures right and turn on a lure turner. Do I have to seal them first? Any help is appreciated.

    SF true smelt

Been following your baits for some time, and you seemed to kick it up a notch with each new bait. Just amazing..period
  7. Dakota Lakes tackle has a good video on you tube. Sometimes less paint and not so sharp transitions I find make my attempts look better.

    1.5 MD

    That looks saweet!
  9. Hey crankie, I posted up a before & after shot of one of the balsa Rapalas I recently finished. Most of them if they had a scratch through the clear the finish flaked off pretty easy with just a finger nail. A light coat of Etex before painting did wonders.

Before shot of a taildancer in rough shape a bud asked me repaint more natural tones.
  12. I have repainted plenty of husky jerks and taildancers. What I found best to do is to lightly buff the surface and put a light coat of Etex on it. It will smooth out all the scratches and teeth marks and give a good surface to paint.

    Scale work

Robzilla, I think on this bait I used Sepia. Was just messing around and layered it pretty dark. I have used black before as well.
  17. Get the Testors 1/4 wide white handle crome tip ones. They are fine bristled and I feel they are the perfect balance of strength. Clean with denatured alcohol. About 50 cents each after using a 40% off at Hobby Lobby. Read the tip here on TU. Life saver
  18. I take 2 extra minutes to apply blue tape to all the hangers before I paint.I've been using Etex so as long as I'm careful it's a not a problem.
  19. Thanks for the kind offer. I'm sure many here would appreciate your insight on what your process is. Always interested in learning new stuff. Maybe a thread in the "How to" section?
