Nice work. You gotta put some details up. How big? ect. How she swims. :-)
  7. J27, All but using testors model brushes instead ,your method is exactly what I do as well.
  8. In the directions that come with Etex it says it's not the heat that burst the bubbles..it's the carbon dioxide. Heat thins it some allowing the bubbles to rise faster naturally. Exhaling and letting it sit a minute does wonders for me.
  9. If you apply it in a colder environment it will go on thicker and sag less. My basement must be 62-64 degrees. It does take longer to cure though.I actually warm mine a bit in front of a space heater before mixing plus I let it sit for 5 minutes exhaling on it a few which pops the bubbles.
  10. Not to mention the "Wicked" line I believe has a smaller particle size and sprays smoother than my regular Createx. I only have a few but the ones I do have seem thinner right out of the bottle.
  11. I've seen a 2x4 with finish nails with the tops cut off used as a jig.

That color combo works great in every style of fishing I do. Problem is I tend to want to paint everything with it

    Brush Types

Do your self a favor and go pick up some Testors model paint brushes. There are two sizes..really tiny and the larger. I read it here on TU a few weeks back and what a difference it has made. They are white handled with a chrome sleeve by the tip. Clean in denatured alcohol right after and there good to go. Michaels and HobbyLobby carry them. They are perfect for this application.
  15. Third attempt at making a bait.First one out of pine, second out of pvc & this out of balsa.Tried coming close to a f9 rapala I use handlining. The body is "V"'d and with the weight of the wire and hooks needed no additional balast. Has more of a slower wobble.Need to experiment with changing a few things to get more action. All in all pleased it floats right & swims
  16. Never tried it but it appears to me you need to be really good at applying it just like in airbrushing to get those awesome looking baits. I'll stick to just trying to get better at painting for now
  17. In my local Homedepot, they only carry the trim board with the grain as well. I'll find out soon if it's a pain to sand.Belt sander should make quick work though.
  18. Could be your blank wasn't properly sealed to begin with and after heat setting your last coat of paint -air was slowly escaping causing the bubbles.
  19. Go to Member Submitted Tutorials, do a search using this keewoord and it will come up "vacuum box" was posted Sept 30 20011 Gino That's the one. Thanks Gino. Wanted to give this one a shot knowing I have about 3/4's of the materials on hand. Still can't find some steel plate with all the uniform holes.Be nice to not make a project out of making a project. .lol
  20. Thanks Jaw. Paul Adams! Thanks for the idea. Just made my first crank a few weeks ago following your videos and techniques. Can't wait to throw it when it warms up. You explain things very well and your blog was priceless in getting my nerve up to try it myself. Much appreciated.
  21. Thanks for the help. Still can't find the tutorial on building one using a box and the hot plate. Thought it might work a little better because heat is not being blew on the plastic. Haven't used stencils much....but might if I could make a decent one..lol. Just would be nice to have another tool to add in making paint designs.
  22. I have tried the DakotaLakes heat gun way and vacuum and have had not to good of results. I found a tutorial using a hot plate but can't seem to locate it using the search function. Any help would be great or maybe something you use that can help me out. I've used frog tape but generally don't like sticking anything on the lure. Have used various combs for stripes but want more control of the shape ect. Thanks
