  1. I was just looking in the LURE PARTS ONLINE catalog and pages 59-60 has several white flashabous, they just aren't called WHITE. I think the mag flash in silver ice looks white to me. Ice blue illusion looks very white, opal pearl looks white for the most part.
  2. As a last resort you could go to the dollar store and get some white mylar ballons and make your own. If you wanted you could make perfect cuts by making a cutting device with blades and spacers either glued or fastened together with small machine screws. I believe FATMAN made a contraption like this for cutting zonkers......would work for cutting mylar strips of equal size Just a thought...maybe it will work for you.
  3. Check out some utube videos, much easier to SEE how it is done vs. being told how to start your thread. Once you see it done it makes more sense. Google how to tie bucktail trebles, that should help get you going.
  4. Smalljaw- Having used both the 32831 and the L2831BP, is there one you prefer over the other? Or would you say they are equal?
  5. Decided to give the cleancast fluxing compound(same brand as the drop out releasing agent) a try and now I will never go back!!! For those that have not tried it, it only calls for 1/8 of a teaspoon for 5-10 pounds of lead. No smoke no smell and no fire. I pour in my garage and hated the massive amount of smoke caused by fluxing with wax. This caused me to not flux as often as I should. I have had about 6-7 pour sessions since I started using cleancast and all I can say is WOW what a difference. The only reason I had not tried it before is I got the impression it was not any better the using free wax. It is not the same. The other thing was the cost, didn't want to add an unneeded expense. Now I have not done the math but I am thinking at 1/8 teaspoon per 10 pounds you should be able to flux thousands of pounds with just one container(comes in 1 pound container). The only complaint I have found was that it gummed up a pot but I am pretty sure that was caused by not reading directions and putting way too much in the pot. 1/8 teaspoon is very little, don't over do it. It shocks me that I don't see more reviews on here about the stuff. I think anyone who tries it will never go back to other fluxing methods.
  6. Cyanide in super glue? It is used in the manufacturing of super glue, but it is not present in liquid super glue or it's vapor. Super glue can be an irritant but is non toxic. Anyone with concerns about super glue, make a quick call to poison control and they can clear up your fears. It is very safe, believe it or not doctors use it to glue cuts in skin.
  7. Has anyone tried using a foodsaver jar sealer to keep the moisture cure top coats from hardening in can??
  8. The tuna works great! Be sure it is tuna packed in oil not water.
  9. That is what I do with my round head with eye sockets mold. Works great!
  10. Sounds like it needs vented to me. If you don't want to scratch your mold, use the tape method to vent your mold. With no hook you are getting good pours because it is venting thru the spot the hook goes. When you put the hook in, it fits tight and leaves no place for the air to vent.
  11. Put your 8 inch square plywood(x2), one on each end of dowel(with noodle). Now you can hang jigs on noodle and as the epoxy runs, rotate your jig stand(turn to opposite flats of plywood). Hope this makes sense, and maybe helps.
  12. Pink is just the go to. Most definitely other colors work. My belief on the noise is, when they are being aggressive....more noise the better...when spooked.....lockjaw...chances are they are not going to bite anything! Seen it a million times, well not quite a million but seems like it.
  13. What fatman and smalljaw said are right on. Add a pink hootchie(squid skirt) to the vibrax and you have yourself one of the most productive salmon lures for the river. The noise is a GOOD thing!
  14. It is so easy, done it several times and it has worked with zero issue every time. What I do is this. Doing only one cavity at a time set heavy wire hook in cavity and carefully close mold making sure hook stays in place. once closed....while holding closed slowly start tapping it closed with rubber mallet. I think a vise would work best as long as you go slow but I have no vise and the tapping it closed has worked every time. I have done this with round head mold, pony head mold, ultra minnow mold, recessed eye socket round head mold. I only use the mustad 32833 for the most part so it was a no brainer to make these molds accept the hooks. I do sometimes need to use matzuo sickle hooks (small diameter shank). I take a dap of red high heat RTV and place in the grove...smooth out, let dry, then down center make a slice in RTV with razor blade. This allows the shank to fit tight with no flash when using on smaller diameter hook shank. I also use the RTV to fill in the area of the mold that forms the keeper for rubber baits/skirts so that I have a bare shank for tying. Super easy.
  15. Then hook I would recommend is the mustad 32833. I understand the mold you have is for light wire hook, however I have found it very easy to get my molds that call for light wire(570) to accept the mustad 32833. Something you might check into.

  18. I think fatman has something. Be sure you are using the correct size clevis.
  19. I use bait buttons when I tip my jigs with prawn, steelhead fishing. They work really well, might work for you. Not sure how to put links on here but if you google "bait buttons" you will find them. The dispenser is what makes it work so great....so easy!
  20. What he is wanting in the matte silver is the reflectivity. Real gold and real silver blades reflect WAY more light then your typical brass and nickel blades. Paint is way lower then brass and nickel (reflectivity)They make all the difference in the world when fishing for salmon and steelhead. The matte finish is the most popular. Not sure where to get in size 6 but should be easy to find size 5 and smaller.
  21. Mark and Chris- Looking good! I know they look much different in person and is hard to capture in a picture. Makes me curious of how to get the best pic or accurate pic. I notice that the one pic of Chris's that looks like it was taken outside(natural light) does not show any of the colors of his first pics that look like they are inside. Mark yours shows more of the color and curious how well they would show up if you take the picture in really low light or in the dark with flash of coarse. Not sure but might show up better if there is no natural light involved. Just a thought!
  22. Can you not have it shipped to where you are at?? I understand you might not have them available local but you should be able to have some shipped to you??
  23. I use an old fork to skim and it works good.
  24. How much pressure are you having to use with the vise? I was thinking if once you had the foil on the jig could you place it in a foodsaver bag and vacuum seal it?? Then remove from bag. Would that have enough pressure?? Just a thought. Keep up the great work.
  25. Well if the pics aren't going to do it justice, suppose you will have to send one to everyone. Better make a bunch!
