I have a thread going on over here with some new designs made with my winnings! http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?/topic/27762-wire-spinners-with-removable-custom-flys/#entry215935
  2. The smallest flies are for Trout, but most stuff is for bass & pickerel. Orange seems to be the thing for pickerel this time of year as the ice melts here in on Cape Cod.
  3. Hello All, Thanks for everyone's votes in the recent Lure contest! Thanks to you guys I was able to WIN my first ever contest with my entry for the "Deceiver-Spinner", a giant custom fly on a removable spinner wire. http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?/gallery/image/12348-deceiver-spinner/ I have been making custom spinners for about a year. I was originally inspired by the Joe's Flys product and had such excellent success, that I began my first custom designs by creating my own tied flys. This past year I began making the wire bodies and fine tuning the ability to make everything interchangeable with the removable fly system. I found the products at Lure Parts OnLine to be the most complete! Now, with my contest winnings, I have just received my latest inventory for spinner blades and lead bodies. SUPER THANKS OUT TO LPO!!! One of the best removable systems is a body (lead or brass) custom drilled out to accept the open end wire with a snug fit. I have tested these clip systems to 50lbs before only a slight elongation begins on the wire, but it never slips through the body completely. I am pleased with this new design. Here are some pictures of my 'production' run of newest designs. I have matched the best size blade to lead body weights: #1 French with 1/16 oz #3 Colorado (or two #2 for tandem) with 1/8 oz #4 Colorado with 3/16 oz #5 Colorado (or two #4 for tandem) with 1/4 oz. The largest sizes sill need tweeking but I like tandem blades, or 2 blades inline stepped in sizes....lots still to learn! My newest bucktail hook designs have been to make a musky type treble with an articulating shaft ahead of the hook to tie on all materials. Another type of fly which is shown here are to use the weighted dumbbells so the fly will actually trail behind the spinner upright, and not spin in circles like a bucktail does. This opens the door to make combos of the lightest lure body, using lots of plastic beads and a small brass body/clasp, to hold the weighted fly and have the combo be just heavy enough for a long cast, but to be retrieved slow enough without a major sink factor. I think I have stumbled onto this combo and may prove to be deadly....

Well, this one is 8" long! So not good for trout. But I make the same thing in tiny 2-3" versions that are the best for trout!
  5. Congrats on the Win! I voted for you!
  6. So, please explain how the star rating system will address ties? (there seems to be a lot of 3's) Don't you need to go into the system to see whether a tie can be resolved by seeing which entry had more higher scores, or are you going to simply count the total number of votes that an entry got? You can't blame me for asking these questions, its only fair to everyone that these specifics are disclosed. . This is a contest beyond the forum website, its sponsored by the commercial company "Lure Parts Online", so I am sure they would also be just as concerned how fair its being tallied. Again, I am not trying to cause trouble here, just trying to get the facts.
  7. In the end, If you can't separate the voting to account for EXACTLY how many of each star rating entries receive, then it WILL be an unfair contest to base solely on the average rating of the few votes an entry receives. SO, feasibly, an entry that gets 1 vote of a 5 star, will win over an entry that gets 100 votes or more, of which there may be multiple 5 star votes, but the average rating = less........ You need to change this......for this contest, or I choose to withdraw, what's the point????

Thanks for the feedback! I guess there is more to the design than meets the eyes. Questions sent to me about where to find the jig heads. There is NO jighead. Its all a custom tied huge fly on #3/0-XL hook. Then UV glue applied in many layers on the head assembly. 1st over thread wraps, then apply 3D eyes with UV glue, and then UV glue a clear capsule finish over the whole head and finally cure it. The end result makes it look like a jig head, but its all solid UV glue. The 3D 'living" eyes are actual fish eye photos super-imposed on materials
  9. That thing looks crazy! I wonder if you maybe should of submitted into the wire spinner bait cat.
  10. Curt, How exactly will the winners be chosen based on the vote/ star rankings? What I mean more specifically for example, some late entries may get only a couple votes, but could be of high ranks, say 5 votes cast for a star rating average of 4 as displayed. But another entry gets at least 5 votes of a star rank of 4, but then gets 20 or more votes with star rating of 3 or less, leaving the "average" rank displayed of only a 3? By another example, a late entry that gets a single vote of a 5 would appear to be the winner.(?) I see why its important that every member casts at least one vote for each entry, thus making results more fair. But I suspect that will not be the case. Just wondering how the total tallies will be accounted.

    Screaming Yellow Zonker

SCREAMING YELLOW ZONKER! Rabbit fur Fire Tiger dyed "zonker" strip, over yellow channel body & brown-black hackle, downturned. Tail from DNA Holo-Fusion & orange crystal flash fibers. #2 streamer hook with black & orange thread This is one of my own invented patterns, works great on largemouth and pickerel. The zonker fur has the most amazing action! I also make this pattern with more natural colors of maroon , black & white, all very productive.
  13. Today my vote is registered correctly at 5. I had changed it from 4 to 5, but the site did not update until I logged back in.
  14. Hello Curt, I just voted a 5 star on one lure, and it only saves it as a 4! (so says in commas) I tried to UPDATE the vote and it still only registers as 4
