  1. Great job. I hope to get such good results when I finally try to build one myself. How do you do the fins and tail is that paint brush fibers?
  2. I've got two bottles of this to try out. The label on my bottles have a pic of an airbrush and a brush so I assumed it was airbrush able . The bottles I have have the dropper in them as well and the colors look great but I haven't shot any of it either so I hope your results are good
  3. . Mark although I do not fish jigs that often and I am far from a expert I was taught to fan the weed guards just like you stated. I was told it makes for a softer gaurd that is still weedless also but I guess it's up to you if it actually works
  4. $34 at hobbylobby I picked up some Saturday to pour an Alabama rig mold. It worked pretty good and it's less hassle but I didn't remove it from my pipe mold because it seems soft. I poured with alumalite resin and used vasaline as a release agent but it says use cooking spray. I haven't used it much yet so durability is still unknown but I like it so far
  5. If you look one page over (Atleast that's where it's at on my mobile) you will see a post marked (school me on airbrushing) I believe most if not all your questions will be answered there if not reply back and I'll help if I can

    baitball

Great job. Are the images cast inside the bait or painted on the outside
  7. I've drilled holes in my finished 1/2 oz arky jigs and added double weedgaurds also poured with double toad hooks just playing around. Worked good but is more work. I posted pics in the gallery abt a year ago doable in small quantities.
  8. Mark I just make a small ball of clay and place it on the eyes and shape it with a toothpick or piece of wire. I can't take credit for the idea though I'm sure I saw it on a video a few years ago can't remember who did it though
  9. You could also put clay over the eyes then paint the clay can be easier to use as a mask than tape on some objects if you can't remove them without damage

    Paasche Detail Pen

Thanks for the tip mark I'll have to give it a shot

    Paasche Detail Pen

Yes that's the one I am referring to. Curious how well it works and if it applies a line that would be easy to feather out paint to. I don't want a line with to crisp an edge to it like you get if you mask off a line. Just thinking about getting one to try out they are not expensive just didn't want to waste the money on it if it's not relatively trouble free and reliable.
  12. Has anyone tried this type airbrush? It does not require an air compressor and supposedly does fine lines. Just wondering how well it works

    Hook Feathers

Walmart also has craft feathers that are colored but you will have to dig through them to find usable ones. They are cheap and get you by when you don't have access to anything else. I used to use them when I tied crappie jigs because there is only one fly shop within an hours drive from me.

    Quick Eye Mold

need to put a piece of scotch tape over the lego brand or it will show up in your mold. I didn't notice it when I made the mold but it may add a unique design in your finished product have to test when time permits.

    Quick Eye Mold

Here's a quick eye mold for making your own epoxy eyes using amazing putty and legos. I don't have a pic of a finished product but when I get some done I'll post it.
  19. well decided to make a two part mold of a rapala j-11. I poured the first half and aloud it to cure then removed all the clay, which is kind of a pain and cleaned the mold really good. mixed my rtv and poured the second half piece of cake right no I forgot my mold release, instant one piece mold duh. Hopefully I can use it as a one piece to experiment with until I get better at this but ive got eighteen hours (cure time) to see
  20. Thanks Anglinarcher for the fast response. I sent you a pm
  21. 20 below wow and I thought I had it bad when it hits the teens. Years ago I worked in Michigan and whenever it got overcast for to long I would pack up and migrate south until the next year I can't imagine 20 below that's about 60 below my comfort zone
  22. I recently picked up an alumilite casting kit that includes super light casting plastic, quick set rtv,and mold release. I also picked up super foam 320 and high strength rtv. I wanted micro balloons but they didn't have any. I have watched numerous videos and read the search results but I'm just a little unsure so here's my questions. First I plan on just pouring a one piece mold for so poppers. 1. Will the super light be usable for lure bodies with screw eyes or will I need to do through wire and does super light float well enough with out the ballons? 2. Can I pour the super foam directly into the rtv mold or will I need to slurry the mold with resin first? 3. Will the super foam be strong enough for screw eyes or will it require through wire? 4. Can I get a good mold without using a vacuum pump to degass the rtv ( pour from a good hiegth above the mold box)? Sorry to blast y'all with so many questions but I have never made a mold out of anything other than pop and bondo and although there is a lot of good info from the search function I have been reluctant to start although I have already invested the money in the material. Thanks for any help you guys can give.
  23. I've got a propane heater I turn on if it's really cold leave it on while I'm inside the house, to knock the chill out then cut on my ceiling mounted shop heater that's controlled by a thermostat then cut the propane heater off. I know during the winter I've got a warmup period to account for and so does my wife ( you've got time to do this or that). I always thought winter was hibernate time who knew
  24. Great set up frog addict wish my shop had central heat where I wouldn't have to wait an hour or so for my space heater to knock the chill out but it works. Like the syringe in the etex bottle you got going there to I'll have to try that.
