Is the photo retouched or illustrated in any way? I think that's what Barry was trying to get at. Great photo finish. Josh
  8. It usually only takes about an hour to dry so I do like an hour and a half between dips just to be safe but I've done an hour between with the same results.
  9. I've used a lighter and heated up the clogged eyes which was easy and let the paint and epoxy on the eyes peel off leaving the eyes bare stainless steel. It was pretty clean looking.
  10. A few drops of laquer thinner works for me with epoxy. Also makes it less brittle which is my least favorite qualities of epoxy. If you hit a rock on a flat part of a bait, you can kiss that paint job goodbye.
  11. I heard wicked white wrinkles. I found that I get wrinkles when painting over sealed wooden baits more than plastic.
  12. I don't think it'll harm the lure. It may not be as pretty but I'm goin for action over looks. Correct me if I'm wrong im just kinda thinking out loud.
  13. It's possible for me to just cut out the old lip and put a wider one in right?
  14. You just dip em' real quick. Mark knows all the tricks to keeping the bubbles away. He told me to paint in REALLY thin coats and make sure each coat is heat set. That helped. Heat setting is really important. I'm guessing you never bought cheap crappie jigs when you were younger. Lol. If you did, you would know that the stuff is relatively easy to get out of the eyes. There's no way to prevent it that is worth your time.
  15. Yeah. This guy put the comparisons of the two right in front of the viewers eyes which is really nice to be able to actually see the difference in performance and be able to see the pros and cons.
  16. I really like that bait. I'm taking notes as always lol. I guess I'm still pretty green at actually making crankbaits.
  17. I found a YouTube video comparing spaztix to alcladd. Hope it helps
  18. Thanks. I made it a little wider than the bait but that isn't enough? Is there a general ratio you guys use?
  19. finally got around to posting the pictures. The action is a tight wiggle. but I realized after painting (of course) that i would've rather done it in a wide wiggling version. how do I achieve this?
  20. Auto clear coat is highly toxic and releases very very harmful fumes.
  21. Limestones... probably a lot cheaper than the other "Eco friendly" weights out there. How much is he charging?
