  1. So, I've been tinkering with wake baits lately. Have gotten a lot of them to get tight wiggles. Which is alright. However, I can't seem to get that nice head bashing action from my lips. Any tips would be appreciated. I've been experimenting with sizes shapes angles ect. But can't seem to find my problem. Thanks.
  2. I had two baits not cure with epoxy. I feel your pain.
  3. Dave That sounds like a great new twist to Major League Fishing. lol
  4. Yeah the soft coating may be a pain.
  5. River2Sea sells their S-wavers blank but they're 45$ a piece
  6. Ive also wondered what they use on soft baits I've just never asked since I only pour drop shot worms for myself lol.
  7. it gets stuck. but its never hard to take out. even with epoxy. a little twisting and it's out.
  8. invest in a nice lure knocker. 15$ that'll save your piece of hard work from getting lost forever on a sunken log.
  9. you just dip really quick, then hang by the eyes. i use paper clips ran through the eye holes. After the first coat dries, i usually do another.
  10. Thanks guys! I don't want to screw up this guys paint job and have to start over twice! Doh!
  11. I think I put some of my paint on too thick. Should I just wait a few hours with A heat lamp on it to let it dry and then try it? Or just go with epoxy
  12. I'm with mark on the MCU. You can dip your bait, and while you wait get painting on some more! Plus, you don't need to worry about rotating and getting small inconsistencies. I use AC1315 but people also really like KBS diamondcoat.

Great work! I just cut a "d" shaped stencil on card stock for my kill spot. But I think yours look pretty nifty.
  16. Ok thanks mark. Much appreciated.
  17. So, assuming I did this correctly, would this would give me a transparent blank "canvas" to paint on mark?
  18. Thanks for the responses. Yes these are for the 200 s-wavers. And the reason I wanted to use brake fluid is because a lot of guys like their baits with more clear or transparent color schemes. Take light hitch for example. That's a big color around here and I've heard of guys paying 75$ for it. I'm just doing this for a friend but that's an example.
  19. I was digging around yesterday and called up River 2Sea asking if they had blank S-wavers. They do. However they're 45$ a piece! No way am I paying that. This got me thinking. I heard that there's a way to take paint off of baits by using brake fluid. If this is true can somebody post pictures of their stripped baits? Thanks.

for some reason, it reminds me of the grave digger monster truck!
  21. that sounds like a great plan. you don't need anything fancy for cutting the slots. you usually want slots, not holes so the screw eyes have more room to move side to side. what and how did you make such a beautiful lure if you don't mind me asking. lol. its a really nice looking bait.
  22. The pin and hinge joint is what's used in all major glide baits. I've tried using interlocked screw eyes and it doesn't perform as well. With a pin and screw eye joint, or pin and hinge joint, you get a lot more "streamlined" movement from the bait I guess. It's more of a slalom glide like I'm guessing you want. Just make sure all of your cuts are straight, even, and keep the hinges moving freely.
  23. I think when I get it, I'll use laquer thinner since that's what's on hand for me.
  24. After observing the pictures once more, I think if you switched your joint to a pin and hinge joint, it would work better. Try that and let me know how it goes!
