  1. That weighting looks good to me. Try either putting a split ring on the line tie or tuning like a crankbait or both. I'm not really sure.... Maybe your joint is sticking on one side?
  2. First, make sure both sections sink at the same rate, then, it may be just a matter of tuning that front screw eye like a crankbait. Josh
  3. She said yes! But she got away because I forgot the hooks! Hahaha
  4. Only thing about triple coating is it starts to yellow moreso
  5. I'm not sure if the picture stuck, I'll try again when I get home.
  6. Well, I asked my girlfriend to prom and this is how I asked her. Hope you enjoy. Oh wait, should this have gone in the gallery?
  7. Triple coat it, and it'll hold up pretty good and still make the paint jobs p o p. I have paint jobs that are going on 3 years with minwax, but small cans or put in a mason jar though, cuz it'll go bad in about 2 months.
  8. this would get more attention in hard baits. Josh
  9. I've used the minwax for a while before I started using the AC1315. I guess i'm just a fan of the dip and dry method. I also use epoxy for certain baits and it's alright. you just need to mix it perfectly, thats why most guys buy it in the tubes that squirt out both parts at the same time (it's more expensive per .oz that way though). the way I see it, each topcoat has it's pros and cons, a lot of guys like this stuff called KBS "diamond coat" or something like that. its not too far down in the forum so go and find that. The stuff is supposed to be better than AC1315 and is around the same price.

    Rats!

Thank you mark. Living in such a mixed area, I really learn to observe the sides before I take one. I've learned to now read both sides of the news and try and figure out what's really happening from a non biased point of view. It's definitely helped me understand a lot more. Sorry for taking this thread on a tangent.
  12. I had one this weekend that I couldn't get out of the can for the life of me, it righted itself so it couldn't come out. When I got it out, it was super wrinkled, so I decided to take a sharpie and go over the wrinkles. It actually covered it up pretty well. Haha

    Rats!

I just worry that it'll get worse, as I've got a lot of livin left to do. From the looks it might get worse.

    4 inch black Rat 1

I'm not really in the mood for rat for dinner tonight, but you got me drooling mark!
  15. just dipped an LV500 that i scuffed the paint off this morning. I've had problems with them cracking open and rusting the bearings inside. partly from riprap, partly from those dang stripers, anyways I'm gonna check on it when I get home because I dropped it after I dipped in the AC1315 (of course, on the first bait i try with AC) but it looked ok and only fell a few inches and had a cat hair on it (oops). my hope is, it's able to reinforce the bait, so I can paint over the base of AC1315 and have a more durable bait.

Thanks Mark! I'm glad you took the time to post this! It's already got my wheels turning.

    Basswood

Now that's a lot of wood! I will probably try all of the above ways and see which one works better for me. I always appreciate the feedback I get on this site.

    Basswood

Thanks! I've also been trying to track down that Azek decking but only a few Home Depots carry it and theyre not local. I figure balsa and basswood are my next best bets as far as ease of use.

    Basswood

Any in big enough sizes to cut out on a bansaw? So I could cut out the shapes of cranks or swimbaits on the bandsaw and sand them out?
  22. And it's only 3$ more per 4oz than ac1315! If anybody uses both, is it possible we could get a side by side comparison since they're similar products?

    Basswood

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before but where do you guys get your bass and balsa wood and what sizes do you guys buy them in. I've been carving pine, but it's a little too hard for putting fine details in and the grain is pretty hard and makes for inconsistent carving.
