  1. Ha!... Greatness Bob! If you got the money honey, we got your disease! Welcome Zach... As mentioned, much to learn here....... But atop that, its a place full of guys and gals who share the same passion Youll probably find yourself babbling to friends and family about lure making, they wont understand... You'll show them pictures and proudly hoist your creations in their face, they wont understand.... Then youll come here..... We understand!
  2. I can feel the excitement building I remember those days... I couldnt wait, so just to get my fix before i could order my first gallon of plastisol, i started melting down all my old baits I even bought a few bags of cheap plastic grubs and melted them down just to pour into a grub mold that i made.... That wouldn't make sense to anyone else in the world
  3. Thanks right back!... I dont have an airbrush, so its all bristles for me Foiling is something ive been wanting to try, but havnt gathered the courage yet... I really like the texture on yours, reminds me of the old school Rapalas.. Whad u use to get that texture??

by confusion, i just meant you grabbed my interest i feel sorry for the fish, with that thing crawling across the bottom, they dont stand a chance!
  5. nothin wrong with that bait!... ive built a couple dozen now, and im still not satisfied with looks, but they progressively look a little better each time these guys here make it look too easy, but theyve all likely built or painted hundreds to get where they are just keep building, focus on performance first, looks second... fish dont visit the gallery
  6. Ive only used pure lead, dont know if that makes a difference with the fumes or not??.... But the kitchen was my only option, didnt have a stove outside........... Things are about to change though
  7. I didnt know that either until i read a thread a while back about Ratl-traps... Which is something on my to do list to make, cause i love that bait! Dick Nite MCU would be my go to for a project like that... I havnt used it yet, but theres more than enough reading material here to get familiar with it
  8. Some may scoff at this, but ive melted all my lead on the kitchen stove.... Though its only verry small batches, maybe 4 or 5 ballast weights or maybe a dozen crappie sized jig heads at a time I got a little kit from Cabelas with a small steel pot and a laddle.... It works, just have to keep the laddle hot, or the lead will stick to it
  9. That's a big buzz bait!!!

Interesting..... How/where is the weight transfer incorporated??
  13. Im new to tying crappie jigs as well... It is tedious and im surprised that i have patience for it! Couple things ive learned so far, instead of trying to trim the tails, just pluck out any hairs that stick out too far before wrapping, if you pluck too much you can always add more.... And if you heat up a nail with a lighter, you can usually burn off any hair sticking out of the wrapping Ive tied some jigs with feathers (similar to marabou) but i dont really like them.... I like the look and feel of hair jigs alot more....... Yours look good, what type of hair did you end up using??... Id like to get some
  14. Ha!... That's funny!... My son got a drone for Christmas, but he was busy playing new video games, so i took the drone out for its first flight... Those things go high!... So high i couldnt tell if i was making it fly back to me or towards the neighbors tree.... I found out when i brought it down and it landed in the tree
  15. Is there much difference from grape to junebug??... My "junebug blue" color looks alot like the electric grape from zoom, but im only judging from web pics
  16. Early this summer we had one touch down right across the street from usWeird things they are.. It threw our wooden swing set across the yard, ripped the hood off the wifes old car and scattered a pile of old fence pannels i had neatly stacked in a burn pile.... But nothing else was touched, and i mean NOTHING!... We have a set of orange foam endzone pylons in the yard (for my sons little football field), they probably only weigh a few ounces with the small bean bag in the bottom, but they didn't move an inch! This recent round missed us by 50 miles... The new house (that we're still waiting to close on) has a storm shelter, how ironic would... Na, i wont go there
  17. being paid off commission, speed just comes natural.. only reason to work late is for more money, but if i can go home early and make the same, ill work faster! stressful? hell yea its stressful!... and it bleeds over into other aspects of life... but i wouldnt go back to hourly pay now that ive gotten use to it... i dont have to work my life away now to earn a good wage
  18. Just got news that it will be ANOTHER week before closing on the house.... My patience has been pushed to the edge of oblivion over this home buying ordeal!............ But, now i will have time to watch these instructional videos... Thanks Dave and Travis
  19. i was also blessed by "mrs clause"!... my gift is a new Craftsman band saw!!! it is still in the box since we will FINALLY be moving within the week (hopefully), and i will have an actual workshop to set it up in!.... i plan just to use the shop vac for all dust removal, if it is not efficient enough, at least i will be making a mess in the shop rather than in the house now the dust mask is a good idea... are we talking the paper kind that doctors wear? or the full mask with filters on the side??... i have one of those from work, i use it when pouring plastics now, but it is not comfortable to wear for long periods!
  20. Had that happen once already... I saved all my recipes in the note pad on my old phone... Right before it died, i emailed the list to myself...... But, somehow my new phone deleted the email when i tried to open it..... So i had to start all over If that happens again, wont be the end of the world... In the mean time, its quite handy having a photo attatched to my files here
  21. I do this at work, just pumping oil... Back when we were busy, making 20-30 deliveries a day, saving a few minutes at each stop can get me home a few hours earlier Doing everything in the exact same order every time becomes a routine, and i flow through each job without missing anything and no time wasted thinking about the next step... Sounds crazy to some, but seconds add up to minutes that add up to half hours that add up to hours I have a routine like that for pouring plastics... But so much goes into building cranks, it will take a while to reach that point!
  22. JRammit

    Slip Crank repaint

Me too... But if all goes well, we will be moving into our new house in a few days!... So ive packed most of my tools away...... I left the paint and brushes out just to pass the time
  23. No prob.. The fish liked it so much that i hardly had a chance to throw anything else!
