  1. I have a friend that works for this place (Umpqua feather merchants)... He/she gets an incredible employee discount!(not the "5 finger" kind, i am paying)... But he/she won't be working there much longer He/she said to "load up" I plan on making mainly crappie jigs... Maybe some dressed trebbles for inline spinners... And perhaps an unspecified use for an unspecified future hard bait (i know that last part doesnt help, but if you know me then you know how i am) Ive searched here before, I know the basic stuff ill need (maribou, chenille, ect..) But if you were me, what else would you need??
  2. Your question is clear to me, but i think you have your answer in this post I had never thought about it until you mentioned it, but making the balsa dive would create much more load on your rod than a dense hardwood would Think of trying to sink a beach ball compared to sinking a big log
  3. Ok... I couldnt decide weather to post this or not... Guess it depends on your sense of humor?? Just to be clear.. This was NOT ME!.. My kid wanted to make a video of his lure just like dad.... So i gave him my phone and this is what i got back........... Ill admit, i laughed a little

  5. I have a couple videos, but not sure if im ready to share with the world yet?? A) im still trying to perfect them im kinda secretive with my work, i only share with TU cause these guys helped me get where im at But it would be cool to hear what Paul Adams thinks about them! Sending PM

    Glow stick bobber

I dont know about the rest of the world, but down here in Texas its about that tima year when its just too miserable to do anything durring the day! This is nothing new, ive been using these for about 10 years, but i thought id share anyway Glow sticks from the birthday isle at walmart ($1 five pack), the bracelet kind with the little connector tube.......... Styrofoam balls from craft isle ($3 twelve pack).... And thats it Run your line through the connector tube before tying on your hook.... Stab the glow stick through the foam ball... Push end of glow stick into connector tube, holds tight on your line...... 1/8 oz split shot underneath stands it up nicely (Ive also made slip bobbers by cutting the bend off an old hook and attatching the eye to the end of the glow stick) Obviously a one time use set up, but at 50 cents a piece its still better than a $5 light up bobber with $6 batteries (if 50 cents is too much to throw away, put it in the freezer when u get home and use it again tomorrow night) If you dont fish bobbers... Attatch a thin piece of wire (i use christmas ornament hangers) to the glow stick using the connector tube.. Bend the wire into a wide hook.. Hang the glow stick on your line between the last 2 line guides.. Pull it down so your line sags....... Glow stick goes up = bite! (Tip: make sure the glow stick WILL fling off your line in the event of a hook set) One more tip to ensure a pleasureful night fishing experience... Bug spray!!!
  7. Paul, i didnt know you were on here... I learned ALOT from your YouTube videos and ALOT from this site!!!... Cool to see the two together!
  8. That looks like the same stuff i got... It works great... But when i cut it open i find holes and cracks in the center
  9. Well its there... Pulling the lid off is quicker than filling a bucket or walking outside to the tank Im the only one??
  10. Funny question, does anyone else use the top of the toilet for float tests?? The "clean part" i mean

    Bass vs ILC baby bass

Bob, in this case im more proud of the bait than i am of the fish!
  12. My fridge is 5 ft from my bench, the bathroom 5 ft the other way.. Only time i stand is to use one of these I did spill hot plastic all over my lap, i could feel the heat through my jeans but THANKFULLY nothing in that area was burnt Serious burns happen when the plastic sticks to your skin... Any piece of clothing can be pulled away or removed from the skin to stop the heat transfer Worn over long sleves and jeans, I think even a cheap kitchen apron would be all the protection needed.... Preferably with some kinda flower pattern
  13. Thats how i was last year... I caught fish on every lure i made, but i didnt make that many lures! The test tank is great for quick tuning.. Shop/tank shop/tank... efficient!..... But as a figured out at the lake, theres only so much i can learn from the test tank..... The rest has to be tested in a real world scenario!
  14. No prob Bob... I havnt made anymore poppers yet either..... I built this crank to practice your baby bass color
  15. Or maybe theyll open my good spots back up now that the flooding has stopped???
  16. I took it Bob... Still dives, but p o ps much better on a full cast like you said..... But no takers today Also threw the "dragon-ski" a few times... No interest shown This lake is only good because its close to home... Ive fished it for 4 years and only caught maybe a couple dozen bass (one 4 pounder), half a dozen tiny crappie, and a few 5-8 lb cats....... Yet i like this spot, guess its the challenge!? Still waiting for the word to go pick up my NEW BOAT... Then maybe i can find some better water
  17. Seaweed???... Ha!... Now ive heard it all!!! But this is not all that surprising to me.. Many times ive walked by a stream or flowing bar ditch thinking i saw a fish swimming in the current, only to realize after a closer look that it was a piece of trash or seaweed stuck to a rock.. Perhaps demonstrating the same vortex shedding principals that make swim baits swim

    Bass vs ILC baby bass

Its just tricky to take pictures with, cause it wants to slide down the line into the boat

    Bass vs ILC baby bass

I snagged this one on purpose just to test it out... By the time i got the boat over to the end of the line, my bait had floated up the line right back to me... Broke off the hook, but still have the bait! I like having the confidence to throw this thing wherever i want with no fear of ever losing it!
  20. As some of you know, i recently built a new work shop and aquired a new test tank.. Since then ive spent ALOT of time using and enjoying each... Well i got off work early today and headed straight back to the shop, when suddenly it dawned on me that there use to be something else i did when i got home early

    Bass vs ILC baby bass

First fish caught on my new design: the inline crank (un-losable, un-spitable crank bait) And this is funny, but dont laugh.... 1st bass ive ever caught on a diving crank bait Ive caught plenty on rat-l-traps and floating jerk baits... Poppers spinners ect.... But other than that, what can i say?? Always been a soft plastics guy Now my secret is out... Crank baits are so fun to make, im gonna have to learn to use em!

    Pvc Filler

Mark, do you have the same problem with your PVC?
  23. You must not fish trout Travis I have a friend in Colorado whos been hounding me to make him a bait similar to the smallest Rapala minnows for river/stream Rainbows Ive been nervous to take on such a project!.. My 1st attempt ever at a crank was a 3" Rapala floater KO.... It did not fair well, but ive progressed a lot since then... Its funny to see this thread today, because i was considering this as my next step

    ILC 1 baby bass

Thanks!... There are so many tools and supplies i still need, an air brush is quite low on the list...... So im testing my limits with spray cans
  25. You probably did this, but make sure virgin plastisol reaches 350 on the initial heat.... Chemical reactions and what not Also a water bath after demolding will cool the baits quicker and help keep their shape.... Just let em float a while, but not over night or they become cloudy
