    I'm In!

First timer, fourth try... After breaking 3 DWP plaster molds, got some Bondo.. Makeshift 2 piece injection mold with copper coupling/dowel rod injector.. Superglued bead body w tooth pick tail.. Melted down Zoom banana seed worm... Not the pretiest thing I've ever seen.. But.. It worked!!!!
  2. I gocha..... I see alot of "Plaster of Paris" molds on You Tube... Where does that fall into the equation??
  3. Thanks! Glad to be here!... Modeling clay? I watched a YouTube video of a guy making molds out of Bondo.. His baits looked a little "rough around the edges"... So... Does the rubber molding hold any advantages over the clay or the Bondo?... If not... Fathers Day may come a little early this year....!
  4. Confirmed via Wikipedia... No fish oil in WD40... Never the less... Fish oil as a scent for soft plastics??... Anyone tried this??
  5. I've looked at quite a few, might b more I don't know about... Most of the kits come with prefabricated molds, but I'm not interested in reproducing someone else's ideas... I'm looking for the ability to create my own molds... Any suggestions would be great!
  6. Main ingredient in WD40 is fish oil... Use it on marshmallows to catch trout...... Any reason regular fish oil won't work as a scent on soft plastics???
  7. Ok... I'm dying to start this amazing new hobby!!! It's all I've thought about since I found it!... Fathers Day is around the corner, so... What do I need???... Found a soft bait starter kit on makelure.com for 80 bucks.. Included is sculpting clay, rubber mold material, mold release, Alumisol, softener/hardener, and a few colors... Guess I need my own Pyrex, dedicated microwave (I assume I shouldn't use the same one we cook in) and... That's all I know of... Question: do I need an injector if I use 2 piece molds? Or can I pour into a 2 piece??
  8. Thanks for the welcome! I'm sure I will have PLENTY of questions!
  9. Oops!... Just joined today, haven't looked at all the threads yet........ But I knew I wasn't the only one, the cricket was my favorite!
  10. New member here... I must have been living under a rock for the last 20 years, I had no idea this hobby existed! I just assumed all lures were made in factories... I haven't even received my starter kit yet and I'm already hooked!!!... Having flashbacks from 10 years old trying to make lures out of Creepy Crawlers (if you were born in the 80's you know what that is)
