  1. I have had the best luck over the years mixing eva dust with slow cure epoxy, filling the hole-and then turning on the lathe, cant even tell it was done. I always collect eva dust from the lathe and keep a bag of it handy for just these occasions.that pic is no big deal,I turn brand new grips all the time that have bigger voids in them.during manufacturing, voids happen all the time, you just don't know they are in the foam until you turn the handle to the shape you want and they show up as the material is removed from the eva grip.
  2. St croix used to have 5'6'' blanks.dont know if they still do. I would get whatever blank you need that has the action you are looking for and shorten from the butt side, not the tip.if you go trimming the tip,you could wind up with a giant tip top guide because the outside diameter of your tip is huge, and ring sizes go up as the tube size goes up. It will look silly if you have a rod with size 6 running guides, and a size 10 ring tip top guide.
  3. I would cut the black eva off of the butt if it is like the Lt. bass rods, and get a scrap piece of graphite blank and ream rings to fit the joint, and down to the butt cap that will be on the extension, epoxy all at one time and once dry hand file/sand butt and turn it in a lathe.if you have the tools it's not a big job.you need a scrap piece of graphite that will fit inside the blank of the rod you plan to extend. I have been a builder for years, and probably have a scrap that will work if you cut the butt cap off and measure the inside diameter of the blank.
  4. How much heavier will it make it? I will need to spray the powder coat, can I airbrush over powder coat for more detail? And clear it last?
  5. Hello, Long time listener, first time caller here.i made up a ton of baits for my family and friends and they involve painting a raw steel willow blade.i bought an airbrush from a friend, and it came with a ton of paint bottles (Apple barrel, auto air and some createx) I tried to use the sealer white (auto air) as a base coat, but the raw steel rusts as fast as I can paint it. Should I ditch the water based paints? Would powder coating be better? On a side note it's an Iwata revolution, and a harbor freight compressor (that got hot and quit 1st use)
