  1. Really Mark that would be cool! I would really appreciate that I guess you can pm me your address and I can pick some up. I would like to try some because salt just clouds the plastic so much and it is giving me and friend so many headaches because we are just trying to get a certain color but it just isn't happing with the salt. I have a feeling since the blasting media doesn't cloud the bait so much it might come out right.
  2. Hey thanks for answering my question guys. I don't want them to sink because like you said they are on a jig head anyway. I just wasn't sure if that is what made them sink. From what I understand there is no salt in them that is why I could not understand why they sank. My best guess from what you guys are saying is that there is no salt in them and I am just going to go ahead and make some like Slammingjack suggested. And Monte I have some HD additive from do it molds that I was going to use with my stick baits but now I might try some with my swimbaits.
  3. Hi guys I am kind of confused. I am wondering if hard plastisol sinks really slow. The reason I ask this question is because I want to make a Big Hammer swim bait mold out of plaster of paris and I was testing my Big Hammers in a aquarium full of water. I use this aquarium to test the sink rate of my stick baits vs real senkos. I noticed that the big hammers sank really slowly. From what I have read is most saltwater swim baits are made from hard plastisol. So I figured I need to get some of that if I want to start pouring swimbaits but do I need to add some salt to it. I just don't get it because there doesn't seem to be any in them. I know from using soft plastisol that if I don't add anything my worms will float.
  4. Wow the forum is back! Ok Bassinfool I might give the blasting media a try one day and I really appreciate the suggestion it might be the best stuff I will ever use but first I am going to give salt a chance and see how it works out for me.
  5. Whoa that doesn't sound good. The funny thing is I was thinking that might happen.
  6. Yeah I was going to say that I like your June bug in the picture. I just forgot once I started typing. Thanks again!
  7. Ok Bassinfool I did like you said and searched this forum for some information. So far from what I have read is that the blasting media doesn't cloud the baits as much as salt and the durability and action is good. Also you can buy this stuff cheap from Harbor freight http://www.harborfreight.com/25-lbs-80-grit-glass-bead-media-61875.html . I also noticed from the last question that I had about June bug color you said not to use salt. I am guessing this is what you use with that formula. And one more question how much do you add to a cup of plastic?
  8. Oh yeah and how durable would you consider the Senkos you make with super soft compared to regular Senkos?
  9. Thanks Jig Man so that recipe does call for medium. I do use a coffee grinder to turn my salt into powder. I am sure I read that somewhere on this forum. And Bassinfool that is interesting I never heard of using bead blasting media to make Senkos sink. Actually I never heard of that stuff before now but I am interested. What are the benefits of using that over salt?
  10. Hi everyone I have a question about a Senko recipe I have seen somewhere on this forum. It goes 1 cup plastisol 1/2 cup salt 1/4 cup softener I am wondering what hardness is the plastisol in that recipe because I am using Lurecrafts #536 Maximum flexibility plastisol and I leave out the softener. Pretty much because I never bought any softener and because they are already softer then regular Senkos. So I am just wondering if that is a medium plastisol and if anyone has done it like me and just used a soft plastic with a 1/2 cup salt.
  11. Dang alsworms should have read this post before I ordered the Basstackle 5" stick mold. Just kidding I like.
  12. Ok Dave I need to buy some red anyway I am wondering what would be the best red to buy. I just want a basic red.
  13. Hi everyone I was just wondering if anybody knows how to make a junebug colored Senko. And I was also wondering where I can get some good water melon color. I bought some from lurecraft and doesn't look right. Thanks
  14. Cool I ordered the mold and from what you guys are saying it is going to be pretty good. I am just wondering if anyone knows where I can get a mold similar to the Pro Senko.
  15. Cool I ordered the mold and I can't wait to it arrives.
  16. Have any of you guys used the 5 inch stick mold from Basstackle. My friend wants to get a Senko mold and Basstackle has that sell going on so I just wanted to know what you guys thought about it before I tell him about it.
  17. Hey has anyone tried this mold out http://www.basstackle.com/5_BT_STick_p/185-kj-4.htm. And if you have how would you rate it as a Senko mold. I am thinking about telling my friend about it because he wanted to get a Senko mold and since Basstackle is having a sell now would be the best time to get it.
  18. Yeah I got the email. I am thinking about getting a new mold myself. I might as well while the sale is going on.
  19. I was trying to use fluorescent orange from lurecraft the other day and when I tried to mix it with the plastisol it just stayed in clumps. It was way different than any other color I have used. So I called lurecraft and the lady told me I have to add it to the plastic at room temperature. I am wondering does that mean I have only one shot at getting the color right. The only thing I can think of is adding it while the plastic is still in that milky looking form and once I do that and it cools again to room temperature it is going to be a glob of Jell-O and I can't add orange to it in that stage.
  20. The first plastic I used was Jann's Netcrafts and that stuff yellowed really quickly. After that I bought a gallon of lurecrafts #502 plastisol and I think that it works really good. I can get the plastic pretty hot and it doesn't turn yellow and I don't have problems after I reheat it. But I just noticed because of this post that baitjunkys plastisol is cheap in comparison to lurecrafts. I think I might try them out next time. Plus I like that everytime I ordered something from baitjunkys I got a lollipop.
