  8. I make a variety of crappie plastics and jigheads.
  9. Does anyone have a good recipe for a pearl silver? I've played around with it but can't get it right. Any help would be appreciated
  10. I have found that taking pictures outside in the sun is best. It allows the true colors of the bait to show.
  11. O alright. Good luck with your search
  12. Do it smooth tubes have an insert you can put in the spline to make them hollow. Take it out and it's solid. Or you can cut some off like I did and make a hard head tune like you're talking about
  13. O yea I'm sure they're expensive. I wonder if I can put one on lay away lol

  15. Thanks for all of the responses. If really like to hang my baits as I think it would be easier and faster for me. I recently saw a video on YouTube that showed the production of some bobby garland baits. They hung them on big racks as well. I'd love to get my hands on one of those hydraulic mold press deals. If you guys haven't seen it, look it up. It's short but pretty interesting
  16. I have always laid each bait put on a giant cookie sheet for at least 24 hours but I've been getting busier and needing more room. I do a lot of small crappie baits such as stingers and grubs. Is there a way to hang them so they cure and remain straight? I'd love to know how you guys cure your baits.
  17. As far as the fumes, a ventilation system is a must. Fumes build up quickly and are not good to breathe in. I modified a range oven hood with a 800 cfm blower and vented it up through the ceiling to the roof vent in my shop. It does the job. Where do you plan on setting up at?
  18. Alright thanks. I'll have to try that. I knew someone here would have the answer I'm looking for
  19. I picked up a do it flapjack mold and a tail mold. I love the idea of the tail mold so I don't have gobs of plastic to remelt but it seems to be causing an issue with air. When I put the tails into the full body mold, 3 or 4 cavities in the middle of the mold aren't filling with plastic. When I open the mold, the bottom and top baits are great but the middle cavities are empty. I was thinking about enlarging the body vent a bit with a small file. If I inject a solid color, the baits come out fine. The tails aren't covering the vent on the side of the bait, only the vent at the tail end. I've tried everything I can think of as far as temperature of the plastic and mold temperature and speed of injection. Have any of you guys had issues with molds not venting air correctly?
  20. I just wanted to let you guys know I shot some baits last night and they turned out a whole lot better. For it to work for me, I had to have both colors right at 300. I also took time to warm up everything in my oven really good. I just wish there was a set of smaller injectors available for those of us who shoot small baits. Once again, thank you all for the input. You guys sure know what you're talking about. One last question I have is where is a good place to get custom molds made? I want to get some cnc molds done for a project I've been thinking about. I googled a few places, but the only one I got word back from quoted me well over $600 for a 12 cavity 2 1/2" mold.
  21. Alright frank. Thank you. I'll shoot some baits later today or tomorrow. I'm definitely going to watch the temps a lot better
  22. Alright thank you ipt . I was thinking it might be a heat issue. I'll give it a try tomorrow when I shoot some baits for this weekend. No bait making tonight. I can't miss the game
  23. I understand I'm not going to get the same effect as the plates. It just seems like the bottom color is overtaking the top color. This picture won't load because of the size. I'll take another tonight . I appreciate all of the input
