  1. I also placed an order with Shelts. I had the same experience as RP. Ordered 1.5, 1.5 med diver, little john shallow and the 110 all foiled. Just as RP stated all the baits showed up dumped in a small box all rubbing together. The foil was scratched on every bait except the 110's. Each 1.5 had a spot where the foil didn't cover on the side of the bait, every bait same spot. The 1.5's also had excessive glue from the foiling process on the nose of the bait, that will have to be sanded. The LJ's had linear scratches on both sides and a bad flat spot on the top of the head from grinding the plastic sprue. A pretty good flat spot at that, will be very noticeable without a lot of sanding. The 1.5 medium divers were bad as well. All had some sort of missing spots and poor foil overall. They also had a bad sprue on the top on the head that will require prep work. While the foil on the 110's was acceptable, some had glue drips on the head from hanging while drying. Hook hangers on a lot of the baits were bent and needed to be straightened. While bending some back the two plastic body halves started to separate. I agree with RP that these baits are rejects. I emailed Jack@shelts to tell him how disappointed I was with the quality of his baits I explained the flaws with each bait and why I felt that they were factory flaws. I also told him that the lack of any negative reviews on his website was a total manipulation on his part. If he were to state that these baits were factory flaws and that some had these blemishes that would one thing but to advertise that these are quality baits is a downright fabrication. In my email I asked for half my money back as most of these would wind up as key chains. He replied that while he could not refund my money he could send some non-foiled baits in the same models. Something is more than nothing I figured so I emailed him back to say "Send me what you think would make this right". I did receive another package with the stated baits. My initial order was about 100 foiled baits and he sent me another 41 clear baits in addition. While these obviously did not have the foil issues they had some of the same other problems, bent hangers, sprues not prepped and white stuff stuck to the side of the bait in the scale areas. He gets credit for getting back to me and attempting to make thing right. I have not gotten any wet yet so I can't comment on how they run or if they are able to be tuned. So my opinion is if you value your time and painting skills and want to produce the highest of quality custom paint jobs, these baits are not for you. I would have no problem if he advertised them as what they are, as blems. Even as blems, at that price I would fish them myself if they will run true. Most would probably be OK if you wanted to totally opaque them out, but if you want to do any transparent work, forget it! You get what you pay for could never be more true here. If you are into bargains and want to sell at the swap meet or make custom club key chains these would be great. I hope I haven't offended anyone here, that's just my take on his products and service. Happy painting and a great New year!
  2. Never received my order from Stampee. Six emails not returned. Filed a claim thru Pay-Pal and was found in my favor with no explanation. Haven't got my CC statement yet to see if the $ has been refunded.
  3. Has anyone ordered foil from Stampee before? I ordered on Sept 7, have not received anything yet and four emails to them have gone unreturned. Three weeks and not a word. I guess I'll have to take it up with Pay-Pal. Ordered for Kingsley on Flea-bay last week, should be here tomorrow.
  4. Lure Parts Online has a couple, check out the 4 1/2 jointed swimbait, # 2715. Might fit the bill.
  5. I also ordered foils from a nail art place. They had a great selection of cool foils to choose from. The main drawback is the foil comes in strips only one inch wide by five feet long. Each strip costing only one dollar each. Now this works on smaller and very thin baits and some spoons and blades, but on larger baits you'll have to use two pieces and line them up. Can be tough to get them lined up just right. In one of the posts on here about foiling there was a link to Stampeecrafts.com. I placed an order with them last week but have not received it yet. Stampee's foils come 4.75 inches wide by five feet long for 4.95. Stampee's selection of colors and styles was only about ten percent of the nail art place. I ordered about 20 different styles from the nail art place and they are cool! Holographics, metallics and some unique ones like checkerboard, they have a killer selection but again only one inch wide. I only ordered four types from Stampeecrafts because of their limited selection. I should get the order in the next few days and I'll repost and tell you what they are like. Good lookin baits Glider! Keep it up!
  6. I downloaded a 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby's website and used that on a Iwata Neo. Print one every time I go to buy Wicked paints and save.
  7. Thanks for your replies and the helpful info. I think I made a little headway. I needed to start with blue pearl as a base. Still don't have the color like I want, but it's closer. I understand what you mean about layering trans. colors, looks like this color was created that way. I used to run a screen printing shop prior to color mixing software, had to mix inks by hand and eye, so I have a decent background with colors. This one has me scratching my head though. Thanks for your advice and what a great resource this forum is!
  8. Hey guys, my name is Will, I'm new to the forum and could use some help with some color mixing. I'm trying to recreate the blue on the back of "Cellmate" baits. I have been trying to mix with C-tex, trans br.blue, Iri. elec. blue, opaque sky blue and opaque blue. I can't seem to get the blue stripe on the top of the bait dark blue enough. The color on the bait seems to be some sort of a trans color. I've used combos of these blues with a little trans black or some pearl black to darken but I keep coming up a medium blue instead of a darker blue. The rest of the bait looks great then I screw it up with the wrong blue. Do I need to start with a different base blue? My Hobby Lobby has limited colors. Do you guys ever use the cheap paints from Wally World? If so, do these mix well with C-tex paints? If I was not supposed to mention name brand lures or their colors I apologize, I read the rules but did not see anything pertaining to this subject. Love this website and forums hope to more of a participant in the future, thanks for any help offered, AZ fisher
