    Musky Lure

Stainless Wire Form Watch Paul Adams's videoMaking A Weight Shift Balsa Fishing Lure Part 1. https://youtu.be/1ZBJLt1Rm0Y He shows hand bending the wire. ( 520 on the video) If your planning to make a bunch of lures, a jig can be made. Simply drill holes to accept metal pins in a metal or hardwood block at the proper locations and bend metal around them. Bolts and nails can be used to make pins.

    Musky Lure

I make some wood saltwater thru wire plugs. Tip: For these I have found Annealed 304 Stainless Steel wire to work well as it is easier to bend. I have tried hard SS and while it works it is considerably harder to bend especially for tail wraps.
  5. Can you just press them on all at once from the strip? I am thinking it would be great to program scale pattern as close as possible. Then press all the scales on at once, or at least a row at a time.
  6. That's ingenious. After it's cut out how long does it take to apply to both sides?
  7. I't sure feels good when a plan comes together. Good for you porkmeatballs!

    Flutter Jig.jpg

You are right It weighs about 4 oz and casts pretty far. Was hoping to use it for Cobia or Blues.
  9. I tie flies and have the same concern. What I do is press them against the handle of an artist paint brush to shape them. Hope this helps.

  11. Apdriver thanks for the compliment. I have to say your painting skills/knowledge are top shelf.
  12. I befriended a local powder-painter owner. Turns out we both like to fish in saltwater. I showed him an assortment of unpainted jigs. He was interested in what I was doing, and willing to help by selling me PP @ cost. Check out a coater in your area, you might find someone that can help you too.
  13. Apdriver attached is a jig I colored with markers and then top coated with clear PP. Water based paint can be used as well.

Finish: First emboss foil with scale pattern then attach, then color with markers & add 3D eyes. Lastly coat with clear Powder Paint and baked for hard finish.
  15. Thanks for the lightning quick response Apdriver. I heard good things about DK topcoat but i've never used it to see how well it protects. Like you I also prefer to Powder coat all my jig heads as it is fast and very durable. I also use water based paint and markers when powder painting. Then use clear PP To protect.
  16. Can't an acrylic or water based paint be used with a top coat of Dick Nite's clear for durability?
  17. I like the painting, do you use mesh for the scales?
  18. You can also spray powder paint then bake in a toaster oven for a very hard finish. Toaster oven should not be used for food once used for powder paint. http://www.barlowstackle.com/Powder-Paint-Spray-Gun-P1006.aspx
  19. Never tried shrink tubing. How about using Grafix - Frisket Film, it's good for flat and rounded surfaces. It comes in sheets 9" x 12" (12ea $13.00 @Amazon). It has a- Low-Tac adhesive on the back & can be repositioned. Hope this helps.

Page 29 & 30 self adhesive tape in many colors just cut with scissors and apply Page 73/98 lists spinner jig and spinner parts. Formed wire, blades, clevis, bodies, beads all the parts you need for a one stop shop. You can get 10% discount for first time you place an order . The code is "TUmember10" 2. http://www.dicknite.com/descript.htm I haven't but some guys here use Dick Nite's Fishermun's Lure-Coat and swear by the clear top coat S-81 to protect. You could probably paint with acrylics or any water base paint and top coat with Dick Nite's clear. S-81 is a laquer based paint so use safety precautions and use with adequate ventillation.
  21. Thanks for the info Glen, I do break flat waxed if I pull too hard. I like it, thanks BLT. I am going to get some 46, if you can pull without breaking, it's way stronger than flat waxed. Also thanks for the applicator tip, I can use all the help I can get.
